Twin Girls' first home....

from university summer jobs start soon. First real jobs. Check out at our food cooperative. Pretty cushy gigs, if one can find them. I began work for pay to help family budget at around age ten, Saturdays, in season, veggie picking on local Azorean Portuguese farmers' truck farms, 35 cents US for a ful basket of greeen beans, but it migh tave been 50. All the stale bubble wrapped pastries on the truck we could eat, to and from the job. Free expired date food for the pigs. And a paper route soon there after. Are times diffrent for our kids, at least in paradise countries? Memoir fodder, all. Aa.

I've lost my mind (again)

On my way home from looking for work
in the city today, I stopped on the side of
the road for some reason.

I heard a small whimpering sound coming
from the tall grass. I looked. I found two
very young puppies. One was dead. The
other managed to climb into my shirt and
came home with me on the motorcycle.

It's eyes are just open and still blue. It was
able to lap up some milk, so I think it's about
3 weeks or so old. Now it's having a nap.

My old dog is not impressed. He's so used
to having me and the castle all to himself.

I'm TOO OLD to be a mother again. I need
a volunteer to come and look after us all.

Any takers?

Women, and their mom's.....

For that matter, other women in their close family. Pretty well known that personal patterns, good and bad, tend to repeat themselves. Education, success in business, marrying well, grounded offspring. Many more. Sadly, the other sides of things seem true. Teen pregnancy, choice of abusive partners, addictions, life on th dole. And of course, another side is true for men, but perhaps with less supporting data. If you want to get a fair, but off course never certain, idea, of what type of partner someone will be years down the line, look no further than paerents and family. Thee exceptions are interesting. Teenage daughters....gotta love 'em...

No shortage of love about, for sure. But the song, "You always hurt the one you love" seems prophetic for many dads. Picked up the two at university for Easter break, and Goddess forbid, asked if it was OK to briefly stop at the MC shoppe to get a part for the vintage touring Wing. Eyes, all 4, screwed up to the ceiling, clutching i Phones. "We just want to get home to the critters, Popsi, dearest". So, ever a glutten for pain, I ask if they"d like to come in with me to see the shiny new road machines. "C'mon Dad, and have to be around all those grubby googling fat old bikers?" Third voodoo doll pin....to the heart. "Well, you are both so nice and beautidul, a father, especially if he's proud and a bit of a show off, likes to be seen with you". Giggles all the way home. Am I missing something? Aa.

So there is this lady I know

who has a job, but it doesn't pay much. A night job, from 6 at night till 2 in the morning. What we call suckie hours.

The man she lives with also has a job, a better job, with daylight hours and 3 times the money.

The have been together for 5 years. They began in his parents house, living in the basement, then in an apartment, now he has leased a house, and his parents talk of marriage and she thinks of it.

Not too long ago she noticed her man's facebook page no longer says 'in a relationship' and he has some new female FB friends she doesn't know.

Loke any couple they have up days and down days. He likes her cooking, but leaves his socks on the floor. The usual stuff.

Her car died two months ago. She had enough money for a new used car, but thought that if she could get him to co-sign a loan, she could put half the money down and still have some money so she could buy some things for the house. She was a little hurt when he simply refused. Gave her a spiel about learning financial responsibility and not wanting to tie up his money yet. She thought about the times when his salary didn't cover enough for the apartment and furniture so she picked up the payments on the furniture and bought the food too, but she said nothing. Instead she took all of her money and bought a new used car. She has no more money, but at least she has a reliable car.

This is Christmas week. She got a line of credit at a store and bought a big screen television for him. She has been hiding it at work and was planning on bringing it home tonight.

Yesterday morning he told her he was going to the gym, which he has been doing every morning for years. This time she decided to surprise him with a brunch after his workout. So she went to the gym to get him. He wasn't there. Worse the clerk told her he hasn't been there all week.

So she goes home puzzled. She thinks also she may be coming down with the flu. Last week he had the flu and lay in bed all day. She nursed him as best she could, but she had to go to work. This week he announced he felt better and was going to the gym again. He has said so every day this week.

He comes home a few hours later freshly showered and tells her he had a really good workout and played some basketball too. She is both stunned and hurt, but says nothing.

Later, they argue. Something silly about how much hot water the washing machine uses. A normal argument or discussion in any household, but last night it took an ugly turn.

He tells her as she is getting ready for work, this isn't working out, I think you should move out.

And there it sits. The dream is being smashed in front of her and she has no clue why.

Girl missing.....

On Bravo and my walk to the city launch, we saw a crowd, with three police vehicles, across the street. Seems a 16 YO girl has been missing since early today. No special issues that would place her at special risk, as if being a teen these days isn't enough. Parents frantic. Neiborhood and police knocking on doors. Prayers. Aa.

living with a stranger

Picture it - I'm renting out my spare room because I need the extra cash right now, okay?

Tenant scored a hat-trick this morning. Went out leaving the electric shower switched on, skid-marks in the loo, and the hair-trap in the shower clogged with hair, so the water couldn't drain away.

a) increase his rent to include a cleaning fee?
b) scream like a fishwife?
c) ???

I'm not used to living with someone. Is this standard guy stuff? moping Sure as hell not with the men I know.
