The god of Christmas shopping

A speaker invited to a school to talk about the meaning of Christmas instead went rogue and told the kids – some as young as 4 – that Santa doesn’t exist and then handed out chocolate Santas for them to smash up.

wow

Parents have rushed to assure their shattered kids that the nasty crazy Christian was lying and Santa DOES exist and is the reason for Christmas.

Yikes, how embarrassing it would be to admit the pile of prezzies came out of hard-earned cash (or credit card debt) from Mommy and / or Daddy and aren’t freebies from an elf-factory at the North pole!

How much of your Christmas this year depends on the existence of Santa, a commercial entity created to build greed in children, guilt in parents, AND teach us to lie through our teeth to our young to protect a consumer icon?

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE AN ANGRY BLOG AND PLEASE, IT IS NOT RELIGIOUS. This is SANTA talk, okay? rolling on the floor laughing The question, if any, is how big a role does the god of Christmas shopping have in your Christmas, and has anyone noticed a difference from childhood to now in the size of his role?

Things I Don’t Do Anymore

I used to fix my own cars until they started making them so you have to be a computer expert to figure out what’s wrong with them; or at least that’s the reason I gave myself for stopping. There was barely a DIY job I wouldn’t have a go at; no matter how daunting. I don’t own a house anymore so it’s easy to justify why I gave that up. Sex is a third thing that has been consigned to the category of erstwhile activity.

It’s an age thing, really, I just can’t be bothered anymore. I certainly don’t miss lying underneath a jacked up vehicle covered in oil and grease, and the thought of never drilling another hole in another wall carries absolutely no regret whatsoever. As for sex; apart from the odd day after I’ve had an erotic dream, I can’t really say I miss that much, either.

God! I’m getting old.

The end of the year medical stuff...

It's the end of the year and I'm planning to take a few days off. Not as an official vacation, but a day here and there. Company policy is vacation doesn't roll over and they don't pay the days and allow you to continue to work. Hopefully, it will be slower at the office in the next few weeks. Some of my coworkers will be doing the same. I cannot afford to be out more than a day or two with no one to 'oil the machine' while I'm gone. So, a day here and there should work out fine.

With a few 3 day weekends, I'll use the time to move to my new condo. Painting, moving furniture, setting up storage for things and moving my home office. Oh, my back is beginning to ache from the thought of all the work needed before the end of the month.

Part of my year-end rituals is to have medical tests. Physical exams, blood work, etc. My wife went for a mammogram last month and the all important mail-in poop colon cancer screening tests have been completed by both of us!

Earlier this year, I decided to have 3 teeth crowned. Thinking I could have the best fit with them done in one session proved wrong. I had 2 removed last week and go back next week for the replacements. I'm not sure if it was the fault of the dentist making the impressions or the laboratory who actually cut the teeth, but the dentist did a lot of grinding before setting them in place. I was unhappy with the results. Several trips back making adjustments wasn't enough to satisfy me. I switched to a new dental team and there is money still available on my insurance plan, so I'm taking advantage of the 'use it or lose it' this calendar year.

That reminds me, I need to add to my 'Do List' to rewrite my do list. laugh

Ok let's roll out the hot potatoe

Why do so many bloggers find the need to cover their eyes

uh oh

When I was growing up I was told that people that have something to hide cover their eyes

Untrustworthy people or those who are telling lies can't look you on the eyes

Shifty ,

Weak willed

Etc etc

So what is your profile pic saying about you

tenant or home-owner? does it make a difference?

Some people rent all their lives, and some buy as soon as they can scrape up a deposit

Some tenants would like to buy but only if they found the perfect place.
Some buyers regret buying and sell even at a loss to get out of a bad property.

Some tenants are careful, paint and decorate and keep their place immaculate, with constant small improvements - if there is a garden, it is kept in perfect order. They'd be devastated if they were given notice to leave.

Some tenants don't do a thing to the place, not theirs so why bother? When it gets too much of a mess they can move on at any time

Some tenants are actively destructive - they should care, the most they lose is the deposit, right? They flit and disappear having near destroyed the place

Some owners, true, true, are also pretty lazy and neglect the property

If this was on a single's profile, I'd find it interesting to see how a careful responsible tenant, versus the owner of a ramshackle ruin, works out romantically - whether a tenant by choice, or an owner by preference, is more stable in a relationship

I have no idea how that works out, by the way. The countries I have lived in, most people are home-owners, and I know in other countries most people have to be tenants, so my research is very restricted! A guy living in a cardboard box under a bridge is likely not a great prospect on so many levels anyway

Marrying for money

Granting that Melania married Trump for money. Is it wrong?

After reading the biography of the FLOTUS from Wikipedia, I can't make a judgment that she married for money.

I would say this, though: anyone who claims she did is not only condescending but lacking self respect.

President Trump.....

and most of the rest of us. In AA, there are lots of intriguing and helpful sayings. A favorite is, God gave us two ears and one mouth, so perhaps SHE meant we should listen twice as much as we speak. Applies to all ten tweeting fingers, as well, No?
