Rotate This!

Do you find that sometimes, things pop into your brain without any warning and you have no idea where they came from?

I had one of these moments today. I was driving home and looking at a new apartment building. I noticed the balconies were all in shade at that time of day, and then thought, because they were facing west, that they would be really hot in the late afternoon and how much that would suck - for me, anyway.

I though of my own house, and how hot the living room is in the late afternoon. I then had this 'brilliant' idea that wouldn't it be great if all of our houses revolved? If they were all built where, with just a click of a remote, you could turn your house however many degrees you wanted it to turn, to be in shade, or in sun and everything in between.

Too hot but still want the sun? Click, turn the house so that you're not getting the direct sun.

And then I thought, how would apartments work? You could have each floor individually move, but you couldn't have each unit move. If each unit moved, the whole thing would be spinning like a top. I want it here. Click. No! I want it here. Clickekty click. No, HERE! Click, NO! HERE! Clickety click. Click, clickety click, click, clickety click.

People would be leaving the building dizzy. Even having the floor revolve could be an issue. One person would have control and - well, we all know how that would work. You could have the floor revolve consistently, around and around and around, so no one ever gets too much sun. (Who am I kidding? In this area, there's no such thing as 'too much sun' ).

So, back to houses. This would be great! Along with revolving, you could have them lift up and down, so that you could see over the neighbor that built a huge house in front of you, blocking your view. Well, maybe not. It could end up like riding a bucking horse.

Hmm... maybe have the kids rooms revolve, and when they're bad and they get sent to their room, put it on 'fast' spin. Bet they'd learn to behave in a real hurry!

But still, a revolving house? Seems like a great idea to me. Heck, they have houses that unfold now, so why not just add a 'spin' feature? Maybe that'd be too much like being in a dryer cycle. Rotate may be more accurate, and less dizzying.

I Was Emasculated By A Kitten

No joke, I really was.

My kitten overpowered me and took my hamburger by force. I kept pushing him away but he come back more and more relentless until it was like trying to stop a mini bulldozer with one hand. The kitten took my hamburger!

No Idling Here...

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity, perusing my thousands of photos to utilize in a couple of exhibitions. A local photo finishing store is featuring my photos for this month, and they've been awesome in ensuring I have everything for their display.

Searching the photos was the most time-consuming part, figuring out which photos I wanted displayed. I thought after choosing them, that'd be it. Ha! Nope. Last week the manager phoned to remind me to have business cards, and to write a bio for their floor stand. Ack!

Although I probably would have done something more with my business cards, I pretty much grabbed one of my photos and added my info to it. I just didn't have the time to really mess around with it. The bio I had attached and sent off several times, and each time they kept asking me for it.

I presumed they'd received it until Saturday afternoon when they said they still didn't have it. Rather than try to add the attachment again, I copied and pasted it into the email - which was received, thankfully. So it must have been the attachment that prevented it from being delivered.

The first exhibit was in a local nursery amongst their plants, and it was a fabulous venue for us (the photo club). The nursery also has an incredible restaurant, my favourite place in my previous community. Our exhibition was Friday and Saturday, which meant matting and framing the photos and hauling them to the venue. It's a pain in the rear, but what one must do for one's work to be seen.

I have another exhibition at the sister photo finishing store in my old community and have to get some photos ready for that one, but that will have to wait.

This weekend and next I'm in a local festival as a vendor. Wouldn't you know, I'm short on bottles and sprayers and have had to get a rush order shipped to me. I guess that's simply a sign that that part of my business really isn't my passion, although it offers me a good income. I guess too many irons in the fire at the moment.

The bottles and sprayers will be delivered tomorrow afternoon, at which time I'll go across the border to pick them up, and Friday will be spent ensuring I have enough product for this weekend. I'll have next week to replenish, but this week is a big push.

Lots to do, and in the meantime, still finding time to bike ride and enjoy the sun now that it's finally appeared!

They say idle hands are the devil's playthings. I'd venture to say idle minds definitely are - neither one I have to worry about at this point. rolling on the floor laughing

The Wall

Having a large property that borders onto derelict homes and orchards is becoming a security risk; I am finding illegal animals coming over the boundary and stealing my animal’s food, hanging around and generally causing the legal residents to be too scared to venture out after dark.

Some illegals are drinking my pool water and often drowning in it, these wasps are unwanted; I have birds that think my fruit trees are purely for their consumption, cats that normally live in the olive groves bring rats and other vermin to illegal parties and probably take drugs.

My solution is simple, I shall build my walls higher, add razor wire along with booby traps, I shall make a point of taking baby birds, kittens, young wasps away from their parents and detain them but humanly supply them with little tin foil blankets (I’m not a barbarian).

I will make my gardens great again.

Am I seeing things wrongly?

Is it me, or are all the personal attacks on people here on the blogs reducing the blog activity by people? If so, what a great way of trying to make a meaningful connection with somebody....encourage them not to return. doh

what would you rather do?

Sit at home, let loneliness and depression creep in ever so slowly, or get out and be a part of the environment...even if that environment is deemed as not so good?

...like a bar
...like a casino
...like a dance establishment
...like a party

I feel if you don't let those places become you....they can fill in any available gaps one has in their life in the meanwhile.

Of course, given if you are a single person.

Otherwise do what? Go to a movie by yourself? Go to a restaurant by yourself? Go to a cooking class that does not exist in your area by yourself? Go hiking by yourself? Go traveling by yourself?

Don't get me wrong, I do spend time doing things with my family, but sometimes those things don't bring you in the most social situations.

Any ideas?

Couple tips for men to get women

When you are going out in real life....

I stumbled on one by accident and the other one has been very well known for a long time but I do not think many men adhere to its wisdom.

Okay....the one that has been known for a while now. You should exfoliate your face at least once a week. It gives you a clean and shiny complexion that women love. They don't want to touch some grease ball. Well, most don't...I don't think. laugh dunno Not to mention, it does make you look about 5 years younger. If you are too shy or embarrassed to buy some at a store, you can buy it online. Clinique for Men has a great face scrub product. thumbs up

Secondly, this one is by accident. My sister once worked at Clinique and she got me this cologne for Christmas. I have used it a little here and a little there. I have about 6 different expensive colognes and I change which ones I wear. But, just recently, I discovered this one is like magic. I have had several women compliment me on how I smell. The last compliment came from a woman who was married. I know her and her husband well. She went to reach out and give me a hug and then she whispered in my ear that I smelled good. Then, she latched on to me like a freaking barracuda or something. laugh I was stunned. Her husband was standing right behind her and I could see how he looked confused and didn't know what to do. I had to tap her on the a** to get her off me.....that is the only place I had access to.

There was this other lady, when I was standing at the bar, she was weirdly bent over near me. Just bent over near me...for about 10 seconds. I finally had to look at her like she was a weirdo or something. She told me that she was just smelling me. laugh

Like I said, I have several different scent choices, but this one in particular drives the women batty in the head. lol It is Bleu De Chanel Eau De Parfum. Do not buy the toilet water version of this one....I have that and it has nowhere near the effect that the parfum has.

Okay....just a quick blog before I splash some on and head out. grin

Women & Men.......Decorating tastes......

Sure, as with beauticians, some men get it, mostly those a little light in the loafers. But I love the man cave as it is, fully functional. And tasteless. Ashamed to post pics even. No joke. Exercise contraptions, Guitars and amps, full suite of drums, music and stands, doggie toys, poorly hung art from travels, libraries, amateur radio station, Large flat TV and VHS/DVDs player, computer station, Plants and wild flowers in random bases, Girlie Calendars, 20 plastic blow up GF's, Houka sans 420, nice area rugs--- poorly located, Touring MC in various stages of repair/maintenance, Collections of peeping tom drones, I Ching texts/tarrow cards (sp), Board games strewn about, Pile of unread mail/journals adorning otherwise nice tables, and lots more. A woman's touch, a woman's touch. Touch anything---anywhere.

putting smoking in its place

this is a blog for the smokers on CS - the social, the regular, the trying-to-quit, and even those who call themselves non-smokers but turn up for meets reekin' like a lum, or keep bumming 'just one' from you.

smoking

And no, we are not convening this meeting behind the stinking garbage bins. That's partly what this is about. We're being hustled, so we are. I don't think any countries allow smoking indoors in public buildings or any public transport any more. Public open spaces are under threat. Laws are coming in making it illegal to smoke in a house or car if there is a child around. Some countries already have them, so the kiddies have to sit down and think about their options. Do they shop mommy or daddy or the grandparents to the authorities, and likely get cut out of the will? Or did they remind themselves that shutting up will mean mommy / daddy / grandparents will die all the sooner, making them rich rich RICH in the shortest possible time ...

smoking

My blog, my rules - this is only for smokers, and our special places to smoke. In fact the importance of having a special place to smoke. Whether you have one or two cigs a day, or a few a week, or whether you smoke thirty or more every day - it's time to make a special place, or talk about the special place you already, the haven where no-one can get on your case.

smoking

Any non-smokers who feel the urgent need to say smoking is unhealthy / a disgusting habit / they quit cold turkey from 100 a day and never looked back / any other hostile, pompous, boastful or unpleasant comments, should go look at a handy blog Harbal has up for unwanted comments. Our lungs, our choice. When we want to make it your choice we will ask for your opinion. Thank you for respecting our rights.
