On Balance.

THE SPEAKING TREE ON BALANCE::::::::::::::::::::

We find summer, rain, winter and spring seasons following one another in perfect harmony and balance. This is because these seasons are working on The Theory of Balance. Balance is a weighing scale where exactly equal quantities are put in the 2 scales for the scale to balance. I have identified 4 major problems in the world and I put these problems in that order: Relationship, Education, work and Rest. The idea is to obtain perfect balance among the 4.
• Relationship is based on Truth where balance comes into play. A true relationship can be developed where there are no fear and no selfishness but only love and understanding. If you know to balance between love and fear or selfishness and understanding, you have a solution.
• Education is another aspect where balance comes into play. Education always shows a person what is right and wrong. How to strike a balance between right and wrong is what education gives us.
• Now, as far as Work is concerned, it is the most important activity for Man. Without work, Man is Dead. Work gives the body activity which digests our food and thus maintaining our health .This keeps our bodies in perfect Balance.
• With work goes Rest. If you work too much, you become tired and if you work too little, you become lethargic (or tired). Here also, balance comes into play. If you can balance between work and rest, you have a solution between prosperity and health.
In conclusion, it can be said that balance is the only ultimate solution of every problem in the world, because balance begets harmony.

Preserving Our Marine Life

We always hear of our shrinking fish reserves while fishermen complain about the ever decreasing fishing quotas, robbing them of a decent living and sending their children to bed with empty stomachs.sigh

A recent survey proved that it is not man who is raping our marine resources. It was found that the larger predators like sharks, dolphins, and seals are to be blamed for the current state of affairs. Penguins also came under fire but they were excused on grounds that they only eat the smaller fish that is not worth catching in any way.doh

At a special session of the UN last night, it was decided to restrict the eating habits of large marine predators. The resolution rules that the said marine animals must, with immediate effect, eat one less fish every day. In addition they will be limited to only one jellyfish per week.mumbling

It was said if humans can get along with desert on Sundays only, so can fish. This will spare the lives of billions of fish every day and cut down on the obesity of some of our predators in the ocean.idea

To implement this new ruling the UN will work in close co-operation with Greenpeace, the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and the Coastguard. All large predators are to be weighed at least once a month to see if they shed some of their excess weight. Those not complying with the resolution will be thrown in the sea to be drowned.scold

Japan, Norway and Iceland offered to send their whalers to assist in the weighing process. Whale weigh stations perhaps?giggle

When asked about it, a representative for the sharks said that they appreciate the problem and will gladly stop eating fish altogether if humans were prepared to remove the shark netting from all beaches worldwide.grin

Just thinking aloud

Just recently, there was an increase in people with student visas. I understand they are allowed to work for something like 28 hrs per week and hence enjoy tax free. Some come here with trainee visas. All of them young even as young as 18. Not sure if the people who contracted them are Japanese, otherwise they'll realize they're not helping the govt at all. Being tax free, they don't add up to the govt coffers. Aside from the fact that some if not all are juggling two jobs yet doesn't pay the proper tax perhaps. And even if they do, they are allowed to refund their contributions. Hence at the end, they've only contributed to their own pockets and pockets of their contractor. Life really sucks! confused

Is It In Our Genes?

Humans have honed the art of killing other humans into a fine art. Our modern military hardware is proof of that. Biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons are just some examples of the destructiveness of man. Whether we want to kill one person or wipe an entire city off the map, we will know exactly how to go about it.frustrated

This is not the case with most other mammals but there are a few exceptions. The most notable of these, is our closest living relative (according to scientists), the chimpanzee. A large proportion of chimpanzee males are on the run their whole lives long, being chased by other chimpanzee males… and killed.shock

Male chimpanzees patrol the perimeter of their territory in large groups on a daily basis. They will think nothing about raiding a neighboring community, killing all males and infants. And killing is not always enough. Sometimes the victims are tortured before being killed.wow

But why do they kill each other? Studies have shown that they kill to gain access to females, territory and food resources. Does it sound familiar?confused

This murderous behavior is not restricted to the males only. Females were often observed to kill infants, and in rare cases to eat them. Observers witnessed an infanticide, where a bleeding mother with a one-week-old child, was pursued by six females, five of which had clinging infants themselves. After a 10-minute struggle, the infant was taken and killed with a bite. These infant killings are more prevalent when food is in short supply.uh oh

At first, this behavior was attributed to the interference of man, but countless studies by reputable researchers indicate that it is in their nature to kill off competition. When I compare their behavior with ours, their violent nature makes it easy to believe that we have a common ancestor somewhere in the distant past. Our primal instincts are still very close to the surface.hole

Good News Is No News

They say ‘no news is good news’ but methinks it is the other way around. Maybe that is why good news does not sell newspapers. If our newspapers and TV bulletins were filled with good news, nobody would have bothered.confused

The only time when good news sells is when a celebrity gets married or has a child; and then it has to be a BIG celebrity. Nobody is interested if Jack Sprat’s wife gave birth to a baby boy but if she cuts off her hubby's ding-a-ling then everybody wants to know about it; and even more so if he’s willing to tell (or sell) his story.doh

We want to hear about scandals, conspiracies, air disasters, earthquakes, floods, war casualties, train smashes, and the likes of it. We’re not interested if Ol’ MacDonald treats his wife like a lady, but when he murders, her we want to read all about it. Lady Godiva can ride her horse until she has calluses on her butt and won’t make it into the news until she dies of exposure. Nobody would have known about Jack the Ripper if he handed out religious pamphlets to prostitutes. dunno

It would seem that the bigger the disaster the better the news. We thrive on humiliation, death, maiming, mutilation, and other bad things, thus making it good news.cheering

But if good news is no news, then papers won’t sell. Maybe it does not work the other way around.hmmm

All Out There

I have noticed that the most mean of people appear as angels infront of others while they are slowly killing away what you stand for.

It doesn't help that some will befriend all those you trust making it impossible for them to believe when you tell the truth about that person. It may take you a lot more will power to deal with them because they can drive one off the bridge sooner then the most leathal of weapons.

Not that this matters but, you notice how polite they close off their most rude statements?

Proudly South-African

Yes, I am a typical South-African male and Afrikaans-speaking on top of it. The story that we like to keep our women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen is utter nonsense and classifies under hate speech. It is an insult to both our men and our woman. No woman with any self respect will allow such abuse.thumbs down

While I don’t deny that there are still men who think that way, they are a minority and in no ways restricted to South Africa. You will find them in the East, in Europe, the USA (where the saying was born), and everywhere else. Generally speaking, South Africans are rational, kind, hard working, hospitable, and deeply religious people who maintain high moral values. Yes, we made our mistakes but we mended our ways and we are trying hard to redress the injustices of the past. But as with all other countries, you do get the exceptions.grin

Don’t allow the hate speech of irrational and/or deranged individuals to cloud your vision of South African people. I’m proud of what I am and when somebody continuously try to belittle my nation, my ethnicity, my gender and/or my person, I’m bound to react rather unkindly. Those who constantly soil my blog with their caustic comments, without ever adding something positive, will testify to this.doh

Cyber Lollypops

Does anybody know where I can get some Virtual Lollypops urgently? I have tried Google but I can’t find any. Hence my appeal to you.help

My father has 9 great grand children and some of them are at the ‘difficult’ stage. On Sundays when the family gets together, they sometimes get very difficult when they get tired. My father always keeps a few lollipops in his pocket and when they get difficult, he simply hands each of them a lollypop. It’s amazing to see how well it works. Before you know, the whole lot are quiet and in front of the TV to fall asleep on the couch.sleep

I need a few virtual lollypops. Please help if you can. doh

And maybe a few virtual pampers as well.laugh

What Do People Remember Best?

I wonder what part of a conversation is remembered best. Do people remember how you begin a conversation or how you end it? Or does it not work like that? Perhaps they remember the good part better than the bad part. Or is it the other way around?confused

Let’s assume that you need to reprimand somebody for some minor offense. Maybe it is your child, a student, or a junior at work. Do you first pay him a compliment to get him in a better receptive mood and then chew his balls? Or do you first cut him down to size and then pay him a compliment to insure that the meeting ends on a positive note? Of course, this is providing that the person took in what you said. Some people don’t listen to what you say.uh oh

And what if you cannot think of something good to say? It is easy to find a stick if you want to beat a dog but to find a brush for his coat is somewhat harder. I suppose one could make fun of it. I mean, if the person is sulking after you told him that he’s not using his head, you can always comfort him with a corny crack like telling him that for a dumb a**, he’s not really that dumb at all. It should cheer him up a bit.grin

I suppose one could argue that it may be best to start with something positive, do the unpleasant part, and then to pay another compliment but then the purpose of the meeting may be buried so deep between all the lip service that it may be missed altogether.dunno

I notice this phenomenon on the blogs as well. A large proportion of the comments deal only with the heading (often misconstrued), the first paragraph, or the last paragraph, while the body of the blog, that contains the juicy morsels, often gets very little or no attention.doh

Back In the Market

Ok, I’m back in the market, but not just anyone will do. I’m looking for a very special girl. The properties I’m looking for are very hard to find. My high standards will not allow me to settle for anybody less.snooty

I want somebody who has seen the bad side of life as well. She has to be young, beautiful, and orphaned, living in a refugee camp, somewhere in Central or West Africa, outside of her own war torn country, and coming from a very prominent political family in her original country. If her late father was a political leader or an industrialist and held a doctor’s degree, honorary or self awarded, it will be an added bonus.wink

However, an offshore banking account in London, boasting at least 6.5 million US Dollars, is a prerequisite, even if there are some logistic problems in securing the money. I will gladly supply my bank account and pin number in order to facilitate the transfer of money to my country. Preference shall be given to the candidate with the most money, unless if she is very ugly. But even then, it will be weighed up against her cash reserves. Money talks loudest.blah blah

I can fully anticipate that she will be in a great hurry to expedite this for I know and understand that her greedy uncles and cousins will also be trying to lay their hands on what is rightfully hers. For all we know, they may have been instrumental in the demise of her parents. I shall protect her against her conniving family.super

I'm fully prepared to send to her the money for a passport, airfare, and any other incidental expenses, providing that we work through a reliable and trusted intermediary, maybe the preacher man that we find in every refugee camp. If we cannot trust him, whom else can we trust?grin

No, this is not about the money; I really do love her. I know she will have a wonderful personality even though her English grammar is not that polished. After all, she speaks French. The problem is that I don’t know where to find such a girl. If any of you happen to come across somebody in this position, please refer her to me. I will forever be in your debt.laugh

Oh, if you find her, don’t keep her to yourself. My happiness depends on her.rolling on the floor laughing
