Spiritual Pests & Problems (Part 3)

Spiritual Warfare: Effectively Armed in Mind and Spirit

Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 2 Corinthians 2:11 KJV

The Lord makes it clear that learning to recognize the spiritual warfare, and working with those who are helping us from the spirit would, as well as fighting against those who seek to hinder us are secrets to success and survival at this time in history.

This is a unique time. It's a time that is different from all that has gone before, because this is leading up to the grand finale, so things are different, more intense. The Enemy, as was foretold in the Bible, knows that his time is short and he's trying all sorts of new tactics and pulling out all the firepower against us that he can muster (Rev.12:12). It's very important for us to remember that, as it will help the battles and all that the Lord is showing us to make more sense and fall into perspective.
Maria Fontaine

SO MR. MACHOWSKI SLAMMED HIS BIBLE SHUT and SAID, "OK, IF YOU WON'T CONFESS JESUS CHRIST, THEN YOU'RE NOT OF GOD! IT MEANS YOU'RE EVIL and OF THE DEVIL! GO AWAY! LEAVE ME ALONE!" But he didn't know specifically then how to really take authority over the evil spirit and command it in the Name of Jesus to leave with the authority of the Lord. He just sort of told him to get away, he didn't want him around.

IT'S LIKE HAVING AN EVIL BOARDER IN YOUR HOUSE! He's not in control of the house, but he causes you trouble and annoyance and you don't like him. You tell him to leave several times but he won't leave, so finally by the authority and the law--in this case of the Word and the Name of Jesus--you literally throw him out! Otherwise he just won't leave!

SO ALL THESE YEARS I KNEW THAT CHRISTIANS WHO ARE THE PROPERTY OF THE LORD COULDN'T BE LITERALLY POSSESSED OF THE DEVIL. My Mother recognised that, She'd say "Well, they're not possessed, they're just oppressed and being annoyed by an evil spirit." Because she didn't see how the property of the Lord could be in possession of the Devil. But some Christians certainly were pestered and annoyed and caused a lot of other people to be annoyed as a result by having those oppressive spirits.

YOU NEED TO TAKE ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY! First of all, you need discernment to recognise the spirit, what kind of spirit it is and what it's the spirit of, whether it's a spirit of fear or whatever it is, then you need to take charge and recognise that you have the authority of the Lord and the Spirit of the Lord to rebuke it in Jesus' Name and command it to go!

THIS IS WHAT THE DISCIPLES WERE SO EXCITED ABOUT WHEN THEY CAME BACK TO JESUS and SAID, "EVEN THE EVIL SPIRITS ARE SUBJECT INTO US!" (Luk.10:17) In other words, they had to go when the disciples told them to depart in Jesus' name! But there were some stubborn ones, Remember, Jesus said of one, "This kind goeth not out but by fasting and prayer." (Mt.17:21) In other words, they had to really get down to business with God and fast and really pray together to have a real anointing and real power to rebuke a powerful devil.

IT TAKES AN ANOINTING, THE RECOGNITION and DISCERNMENT OF SOMEONE WHO IS REALLY ANNOINTED and I BELIEVE THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE THAT GIFT--Not only of the discerning of spirits, but of the casting out of devils. They've got a real anointing for it, a real discernment for it, and whoever has it needs to help that person and help them along with united prayer and even fasting, if necessary, to rebuke the devil and recognise the demon, what kind of demon it is.

Engaging Our Societies (Part 1)

A compilation Sep 22, 2015

Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols. So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.—Acts 17:16–17 (1)

*

The effectiveness of Paul’s evangelism was not just a consequence of divine calling, but also of careful planning. An important principle he applied to his listeners was to teach what is unknown by means of what is known. If our attempts to communicate something new begin with the unfamiliar, we will almost certainly confuse our listeners and leave them disinterested. But if we start with what is already familiar and carefully build a bridge to the unfamiliar, we are likely to gain interest and understanding.

Paul looked for a common platform on which he could build a bridge that would take his listeners from their familiar territory to the unfamiliar truths of the Gospel. … In the one recorded Scripture of Paul preaching in a synagogue, he connects with his Jewish hearers by addressing them as ‘children of Abraham’, and begins to talk about the dramatic deliverance from Egypt under Moses, all very familiar territory to them. To a group of women in Philippi, worshiping a God they didn’t know, Paul joins them and introduces a positive message about a God they could know. To the pagans of Lystra, he finds common ground in creation, and how a living God sustains it all, putting food on their tables and joy in their hearts. To Greek philosophers in Athens, he refers to futile attempts of men to express God in terms of gold, silver and stone, and tactfully leads them to a God who gives life and breath.

When reaching people for Christ, our starting point should be in the thinking, culture and presuppositions of our hearers, so that we first get into their territory. Then, like Paul, tactfully building that bridge that will lead them to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.—Charles Price

*

Jesus indicated that our problem is heart trouble. The greatest need of our great cities at this moment is evangelism. The apostle Paul stood in the heart of pagan, secular, immoral, and violent Corinth and said, “We preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness, but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”2 The proclamation of the Gospel is still the desperate need of men today. We are never going to reverse the moral trends without a spiritual awakening, and we are never going to have a spiritual awakening until the cross of Jesus Christ is central in all our teaching, preaching and practice.—Billy Graham

*

Many sincere Christians everywhere find themselves in situations where the Lord leads them to invest more time in building relationships with people, in being willing to be patient as they live their faith, witness as the Lord leads them, and wait for the fruit to come in God’s time. As the “salt of the earth,” the Lord is putting more of us in situations where we can build relationships, friendships, and give a more in-depth witness over time, which will allow people to discover the truth and the Lord’s Spirit for themselves as a result of seeing it lived before their eyes by faithful Christians.

Many past methods of reaching people still work. Of course, much depends on individuals and their needs, as well as the culture and mores of the society you’re in. In general, however, the world has become more skeptical, and more people are looking for “proof” and have a need to be fully persuaded before accepting spiritual concepts. Your example and your interactions with them can go a long way toward convincing them that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Heavenly Quotes on Heaven! Pt. 8

Embedded image from another site

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Psalms 147:3-5 KJV

"You are still going to be you. You'll look a lot the same, only better -- much better! --David Berg

"Our heavenly bodies are going to be similar to our present ones, only better. We'll look enough like we do now to recognize and identify each other. We're going to have a lot of the same characteristics that we have now. --David Berg

"In Heaven, our bodies are going to be the same make, but a new model. Our old, decaying, worn-out natural, physical body will go back to the dust. We will trade it in for an entirely new heavenly model!"--David Berg

"When Jesus came back from the dead, He still looked like Himself, still felt like Himself, and could still eat, drink, and even cook, just like when He was on Earth. He said to His disciples, "Behold My hands and My feet, that it is Myself. Handle Me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones as ye see Me have" (Luke 24:39). His followers could actually touch and feel Him, as well as see Him, and yet He was in a miraculous supernatural resurrected body! His new body could also materialize or dematerialize, appear or disappear. It could pass from one dimension to the other, and through locked doors and solid walls. (See John 20:19, 26.)--David Berg

"We are going to have bodies like Jesus did after He was resurrected. Each of us is going to have a new eternal, glorified body. It will actually be constructed as we are now, of flesh and bones -- but eternal flesh and bones, incorruptible, immortal flesh and bones. It's going to be material, natural, recognizable, seeable and feelable. (See 1 John 3:2.) --David Berg

"All of the pleasures of this present physical life can be continued into the next life as well, since we will have a body which is similar to our present physical body, but so much more glorious and wonderful and supernatural. We will be able to eat, drink, be merry and have fun without ever suffering pain or sickness or weariness or death.--David Berg

"From the accounts of those who have had glimpses of Heaven in visions and revelations, it seems that we do mature somewhat in Heaven. Those who arrive in their youth grow to maturity, while older people appear more middle-aged, in the prime of life.--David Berg

Learning, Learning, Learning!

"We're still going to be learning in Heaven. We will still be developing and are not yet absolutely perfect. That's what the future is all about -- to continue the learning process that we have begun here. We've all still got a lot to learn!--David Berg

"God has a lot of things to teach us in Heaven, things we didn't learn in this life.--David Berg

"Contrary to popular belief, the moment we land in Heaven we don't immediately know everything! If we did, we'd be God Himself -- all-knowing.--David Berg

"God has left that for the rest of time and eternity in order to give us something to do in the hereafter. We'll be able to learn more about the past and why things happened, as well as God's logic and purposes and the meaning of it all.--David Berg

"Eternity is a constant learning process. It will be another grade, another step, a chance to do what we failed to do before and to learn what we failed to learn before. Thank God for eternity! We've all probably got a lot of bad habits to change and failures to make up for. Maybe God will give each of us a chance to meet people who we've wronged and straighten things out and tell them we're sorry.--David Berg

In Search of Truth Pt. 7

Embedded image from another site

BUT HOW CAN ANY RELIGIOUS PRACTICE BE WRONG IF IT'S DONE SINCERELY?

The Bible tells us that Satan, the Devil, is an arch-DECEIVER, and is often "transformed to APPEAR as an angel of LIGHT."--2 Corinthians 11:14,15. The Devil often mixes in a lot of TRUTH and a lot of GOOD with his lies in order to make his deceit all the more clever. It's true that many of Satan's demons are OBVIOUSLY evil, violent, destructive and horrific, but many times the Enemy of our souls will try to CHARM and lull people into his deceptions by baiting his trap with some TRUTHS!--To lure his victims into his clutches!

If the Devil didn't teach any GOOD or any TRUTH, most people wouldn't swallow his LIES! So he wraps up his bitter pill in a sugar coating--which may look and taste good at FIRST, but it will result in severe spiritual INDIGESTION!--In fact, it is usually pure POISON, and if you SWALLOW it, it will ensure your spiritual DEATH!

So it is of vital ETERNAL importance that, in your search for Truth, you find the TRUE God, the God of LOVE, Who LOVES you and wants to SAVE you! No amount of religious forms, ceremonies, rituals or traditions can ever bring you the wonderful soul-satisfying peace, joy and love that can be YOURS once you have a living relationship with the living God!

MANY RELIGIONS TEACH THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR US TO SUFFER IN ORDER TO TRULY PLEASE AND DRAW CLOSE TO GOD.--IS THIS TRUE?

No!--As we mentioned earlier, God is LOVE, and He LOVES you very much and wants you to be HAPPY! This is WHY He's placed you here in this beautiful World in the first place! He intended for you to ENJOY living, and has given you the ability, the senses and the environment to do so. He created you to ENJOY the life He's given you, and to love and enjoy HIM forever!

But sad to say, a lot of people do not realise that God wants them to be happy. Their concept of religion is like that of the young boy who, while walking home from a religious service that he attended with his strict and ultra-religious grandfather, stopped and spoke to a neighbour's mule. As he stroked the mule's nose he said, "You must be an awfully RELIGIOUS creature, you have such a long, SAD face!"

To many, godliness and saintliness are supposed to consist of a denial of all human happiness and general enjoyment of any kind. Some go so far as to believe and teach that any kind of physical pleasure must be SINFUL or WICKED!--And they think that godliness consists of such suffering, pain, self-torture, self-denial and self-crucifixion that you must be in utter MISERY and AGONY in order to get close to God! This, thank God, is NOT the case according to the Bible!

Nevertheless, some poor folks are so obsessed with a fetish for self-denial and self-torture that they actually sit on nails, put skewers through their cheeks, walk barefooted on hot coals, whip themselves and even have themselves nailed to crosses!--PURPOSELY suffering all kinds of physical torture because they think that the more they SUFFER, the more "RELIGIOUS", "holy" or close to God they will become!

It's true that there are times when we may need to sacrifice or suffer, but according to God's Word in the Bible, we do not have to do it on PURPOSE, as some kind of means to gain personal merit or favour with God! If we suffer, it's usually because God ALLOWS it for some reason, but it's usually a result of our sacrificing and giving of ourselves in order to help OTHERS.--NOT because we necessarily ASK for it or WANT it or think we are gaining any MERIT or righteousness by it.

The King James Bible proven to be fiction

An Ancient Manuscript Of The Bible Has Been Discovered, Proving That It Is A Work Of Fiction

A manuscript of a handwritten copy of the Bible has been discovered at Cambridge University. The fascinating document shows the King James Bible in the early editing process of the work and shines a light on just how much of the original text of the Bible has been omitted from the version that Christians read today.
King James Bible heavily edited from the original text

According to academics at the prestigious university, the handwritten manuscript had been mislabelled which meant that it had been left undetected and without investigation for an incredibly long time. However, once the manuscript was discovered it caused something of a flurry of excitement in historical and theological circles as it proves that the King James Bible, which is one of the most widely read editions of the Bible in the modern world, has been heavily edited from the original text.

Whole sections of the original text of the Bible are reported to have been cut out from the finished product with notable people and events being completely omitted from the finished product.

King James Bible The Old And New Testaments Version

Professor Miller, who was responsible for re-discovering the astonishing text and bringing it to light, says that he believes that these omissions were due to the academics of the age either falling ‘down on the job’ or just being too lazy to include everything. He says that his find really illustrates the human impact on the creation of the King James Bible which is often overlooked by Christians and academics.
Handwritten Draft Of The Bible King James Version
Two pages from Samuel Ward’s translation for part of the King James Bible.

The discovery of this highly edited text is bound to cause some degree of controversy in theological circles. The vast majority of Christians who use the King James Bible today believe that it is the divine word of God, and yet this discovery proves that the Bible is really a product of the whims of the translators, the editors and the political figures who lived long after the death of Christ.

This manuscript will surely raise questions as to whether Christians today are really following the original line and letter of Christianity.

God’s “Perfecting” Gifts (Part 1)

Embedded image from another site

By Philip Martin Feb 03, 2016

Today I had an interesting thought. As I was having my devotions, I read a portion of Streams in the Desert by an old saint of God, Maltbie Davenport Babcock, about this verse in James 1: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”1 What I read triggered something inside me telling me to look deeper.

The first thing that caught my attention as something worth deeper examination was when Babcock shared the idea that “every good gift of God is a ‘perfecting’ gift.” That word “perfecting” was intriguing. I read on, “…as well as a gift without defect, a gift which is complete in all respects, a gift which is sound and one which is flawless.”

“Every good gift and every perfecting gift is from above.” In the past when reading this verse I tended to think that every good gift and every perfect gift were the same, or through simple deduction that good equals perfect. Therefore I was inclined to think when things went “good” that it was from God and when things went “bad,” those things must not have been from God. I was failing to see these perfect gifts as perfecting gifts.

However, now I started to look at God’s perfecting gifts through the microscopic lenses of Romans 8:28: “All things work together for good.” And John 15:2: “Every branch that bears fruit, he purges.” And Hebrews 12:6: “For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.” The light came on, and to paraphrase Paul, “Before, my natural man could not receive the things of the Spirit of God, because they seemed foolishness to me; nor could I understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”2 I felt I was starting to get “the mind of Christ” on the matter and see it as He does.

So what are these perfecting gifts from God supposed to do for us or to us? Paul said, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”3 What is this eternal weight of glory He wants in us?

Babcock explains:

“Character is worth all it costs, and since God is ceaselessly, changelessly bent upon building character, the denial or trial that helps to bring it to pass is as much a tool of His invariable purpose as the gift that makes you laugh with joy.

“Circumstances do not make character. The noblest character can emerge from the worst surroundings, and moral failures come out of the best. Just where you are, take the things of life as tools, and use them for God’s glory so you will help the kingdom come, and the Master will use the things of life in cutting and polishing you so that there shall someday be seen in you a soul conformed to His likeness.”

Through these “perfecting gifts” God is changing us, changing our character to be “conformed to the image of His Son,” and as Paul also said in 2 Corinthians 3:18, “We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” God wants our characters to be reflections of His Son’s character. All the chiseling, sanding, rubbing, polishing, purifying, molding, breaking, making, and remaking is for one purpose and one purpose alone. It is so that when people look at us they will see in us a reflective image of His Son.

J. R. Miller put it this way:

“The word ‘character’ in its origin is suggestive. It is from a root which signifies to scratch, to engrave, to cut into furrows. Then it comes to mean that which is engraved or cut on anything. In life, therefore, it is that which experiences cut or furrow in the soul.

1 James 1:17 KJV.
2 1 Corinthians 2:14.
3 2 Corinthians 4:17.

The Wider Life Pt. 1

Embedded image from another site

By J. R. Miller OCTOBER 16, 2014

“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes!”—Isaiah 54:2

We do not realize half our possibilities. We do not more than begin to possess our inheritance. Our hills are full of gold—and we only scratch the sand and the shallow soil on the surface! We live in little bungalows in the valley—when there are splendid palaces waiting for us on the hilltops.

We should never be content with a narrow life. We are made for breadth and fullness, and we rob God when we fail to reach our best. Some people assert that Christianity’s ideal for life is narrow. They say it cramps and limits us. It has no place, for example, for physical or intellectual development. It says nothing about art, music, science, or the many phases of human activity. It presents only the moral side—conscience, obedience to heavenly laws, spiritual attainments and achievements.

The answer is that while Christianity may not definitely name the things of the intellect, or distinctly call men to noble achievements in art, in exploration, in invention, in research, in the culture of the beautiful, it really includes in its range everything that will add to the fullness and completeness of life and character. It excludes nothing but what is sinful: disobedience to law, impurity, selfishness, uncharity, and these only narrow and debase, do not broaden and enrich life. It includes “whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report.” Is this a narrow life?

Our Christian faith places no limitation whatever on life—except what would mar, blot, or debase the character. Japanese horticulturists have a trick of stunting trees, and the world is full also of stunted men, only dwarfs of what God made them to be. But the call of Christianity is always for whole men—men reaching up to their best, and out to their broadest in every way. … Christianity seeks the fullest development of every power and capacity of the being. Jesus Christ, our pattern, would have us become full-grown men. As leaders of others, as teachers, as followers of Christ—our influence should be toward the enriching and broadening of lives. … There is no way in which we can prove ourselves better friends to others—than by such influence over them as will make their lives fuller, truer, more loving, more helpful. …

There are many people who live in only one room, so to speak. They are intended to live in a large house, with many rooms, rooms of the mind, rooms of the heart, rooms of taste, imagination, sentiment, feeling. But these upper rooms are left unused, while they live in the basement!

A story is told of a Scotch nobleman who, when he came into possession of his estates, set about providing better houses for his people, who were living huddled together in single-roomed cottages. So he built for them pretty, comfortable houses. But in a short time each family was living, as before, in one room, and letting out the rest of the house.

They did not know how to live in larger, better ways. The experiment satisfied him, that people could not be really benefited by anything done for them merely from the outside. The only true way to help them is from within, in their minds and hearts.

Horace Bushnell put it in an epigram, “The soul of improvement, is the improvement of the soul.” It is not a larger house that is needed for a man—but a larger man in the house! A man is not made larger by giving him more money, better furniture, finer pictures, richer carpets, an expensive automobile—but by giving him knowledge, wisdom, good principles, strength of character; by teaching him love. …
