John 8:51-59

51 "..., Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.”

52 At this they exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?”

54 Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.”

57 “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”

58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

Daniel 10:5-6 5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

1 Maccabees 3:48“And laid open the book of the law, wherein the heathen had sought to paint the likeness of their images." If color doesn't matter, then why hang up a false image on your wall? Should I write about the story of Adam and Eve?

Its a very dark story, one which brings great sadness to my self just thinking about it.
I have been wanting to write this story for a long time, but writing this story is like walking on thin ice one step the wrong way and I will fall into the coldest water you could possibly imagine. Dead in an instant.

It's trying to tell the story in the most humbling way possible as to not insult Eve in any way shape or form.

The Miracle of Christmas

In our hectic holiday season, many have neglected the true miracle and meaning of Christmas- the coming of Jesus to our world. He is why we celebrate Christmas. Why? Because God sent His only Son to the earth to die for our sins that we might inherit a free gift of eternal life through personal trust in His Son (John 3:16).

Philippians 2:5-8 points out that the sovereign, infinite, all-powerful, eternal second Person of the Trinity actually took on a finite human nature through the virgin birth (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:18-25; Lk. 1:26-38). Why? The Bible specifically teaches that Jesus came to be our representative and die for our sins on the cross of Calvary (Heb. 2:17; 1 Jn. 2:2; 4:10).

God sacrificed Himself for us- yes, died for us, even His enemies (Rom. 5:10)! He willingly took upon himself the infinite penalty due our sins so that he could graciously offers us a free gift of eternal salvation. Jesus' atoning death opened up the door for us to live in Heaven forever with a God of infinite love, joy, grandeur, wonder, peace, beauty, and splendor- to be with the greatest Treasure in the universe everlastingly.

Jesus birth was unlike any other. The theological term for his coming, the incarnation, is a doctrine unlike any other because it reveals who Jesus Christ truly is.

Like the One it celebrates, Christmas offers it's own paradox; a time of joy and celebration for many but for others a time of discouragement and depression. In it's own unique way, the season tends to shine a light on the color of our souls.

Particularly at Christmas, people have searched for both meaning and happiness in life. In this season of joy, it seems we often need reminded that God is actually the only possible source of genuine meaning and enduring happiness.

As the ancient and wisest King Solomon learned the hard way, a person can acquire virtually everything the world has to offer yet remain as unhappy and empty as ever. Material and temporal things of any sort can never satisfy beings who have an eternal longing for lasting happiness and ultimate meaning, which only an eternal, infinite, Person can satisfy, forever.

It was for this reason that God sent his own Son: "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him" (Jn. 3:16-17).

When the Bible speaks of "salvation" and "eternal life" as a gift (Rom. 6:23), it is speaking of a specific, astonishing, and excellent quality of life everlasting life only God can give. In Heaven we will find more love and meaning and contentment and happiness and joy and peace and fun and excitement and adventure than we can possibly dream of- and it will last forever.

All of this is possible only because of the incarnation or earthly birth of Jesus Christ. But we need to personally trust in Jesus and honor Him for who He truly is. However, with the birth of Christ, another irony of the often self-absorbed Christmas season seems to be that no matter how we may try to ignore it, life isn't about us; it's about Jesus. Getting what we most desire in life doesn't really make us happy. Whether we have what we want or not, that's why many become depressed and wonder about life's meaning. We aren't big enough or good enough to satisfy ourselves. Nor is anyone or anything else. As the famous French existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre pointed out, only an infinite reference point can give our lives meaning. This famous atheist yearned for God: "That God does not exist, I cannot deny, that my whole being cries out for God I cannot forget."

Some may speculate as to how they could really and truly ever find God. After all, given the many religions in the world and their conflicting beliefs, where does a person start?

Actually it's a lot easier than most would think....

Matthew 26:14-25

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
14 Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests 15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

The Last Supper
17 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”

18 He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

20 When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21 And while they were eating, He said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”

22 They were very sad and began to say to Him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”

23 Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. 24 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

25 Then Judas, the one who would betray Him, said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?”

Jesus answered, “You have said so.”

Is life really meaningless ?..1

MEANING CAN BE understood in two ways. There is meaning that is somewhere far away, you have to reach to it. It is extrinsic.
Life is not meaningful in this first sense. And it is good that life is not meaningful in that sense, because then life becomes only a means to reach to the faraway goal, the faraway star. Then life loses its autonomous beauty. It is just a way; the real thing is tomorrow.

Meaning has another category too: intrinsic. Life is tremendously meaningful in the second sense. Then meaning is not separate, somewhere else; then meaning is in the very living itself.

You don't ask, has love any meaning? You know love is itself meaningful, it is not a means to some end. You do not ask if the beauty of a rose is meaningful. The beauty itself is enough; it does not lead anywhere, it contains its meaning within itself.

In existence everything that is really valuable is always intrinsically meaningful. And life is equivalent to existence. Life has meaning. If you just change the word "life" into "living," you will be able to understand more easily. Living has meaning -- each moment -- because living is not something dead like "life." The word "life" is dead -- all nouns are dead. But the language is created by dead people.

Some day the new man is going to create a language which consists only of verbs, because that will be authentic to existence. In existence there is no noun. Have you seen "life"? Have you met "life" anywhere? All that you meet, experience, is living.

Sipping a cup of tea, going for a morning walk, doing your work -- all these small activities make up your living. And each part, each moment of living, is meaningful. You just have to be there; otherwise, who is going to experience the meaning?

People go on drinking tea, but they never are there; their minds are wandering all over the world. People are making love, but they are not there. It is a very strange world that we have created. In one bedroom there are at least four people. Already the bedrooms are so small, too difficult for two people; and in the bed there are four people, or even more. These two people who are making love are not there: the man is thinking of some Hollywood actress, the woman is thinking of Muhammad Ali. So there are four people. Who is making love to whom? These two people are simply going through the gestures of love -- they are not present -- mechanical gestures of love. And then they ask, "Is there any meaning in life?"

You go on losing every moment by your absence.

WHEN I WAS A STUDENT, my principal in the high school was continuously troubled by my absence from the school. My family was troubled. I would start going to school, but never reach there. Life was so much, and so many things were happening on the way... and the school was almost one mile away from the house.

The principal called me one day and said, "You are almost always absent."
I said, "That's where you are wrong."
He said, "What do you mean?"
I said, "I am always present wherever I am. To be absent is not my style of life. And what can I do? -- this one mile between the school and my house.... A magician was doing his tricks on the street, and I became present there. It was far more interesting than your teachers, and I learned more than I could have learned here -- because whatever your teacher is saying I can read in the book, but I will never meet that magician again. And he did such beautiful tricks that when he was finished I followed him to his tent outside the city.

Liberating Our Perspectives - Final

Love much. There is no waste in freely giving;
More blessed is it, even, than to receive.
He who loves much, alone finds life worth living;
Love on, through doubt and darkness; and believe
There is nothing which Love may not achieve.
–Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Sometimes what seems like something bad, something unjust or unfair could be His way of warning us of some even greater trouble that we’re heading for. Recognizing the potential for trouble can often help us avoid something far worse. Picture your computer sending you warnings by shutting down, causing you to lose work because something is wrong with your hard drive. If this happened, would you assume that the computer or the programs running it were just getting back at you by not saving your files or making you suffer loss? Or would you realize that there must be something positive that can be gleaned from what’s happening; namely you realize that your hard drive may be starting to fail and you need to buy a new hard drive before you risk losing everything.

The losses hurt, but that doesn’t mean the intent is to cause you harm or punishment. The upside of those troublesome setbacks is to help you in some way. That new hard drive will hold lots more data, run more efficiently, and make your tasks easier in the future.

That’s what our sometimes debilitating struggles can do for us. They can help us look at what is most important. They can spur us on to do more than we ever dreamed possible. Often, feeling the hopelessness of the circumstances, the frustration with the way things are, the impossibility of carrying on business as usual, helps us realize the need to get in deeper, more solid, unbreakable communication with Jesus.

And just as Jesus’ love for us was manifested in using His suffering to help us, so His love in us can be used to help others. We’re each a work in progress, but that doesn’t mean we can’t use each small step we take as a tool to help others. Even as we are progressing toward spiritual victories, our faith can provide us with so much to offer in counsel, answers, and hope for others who are struggling with monumental upsets or times of severe discouragement and a loss of vision. As we learn more about the freedom, joy, mercy and compassion that Jesus makes available to us, we come to understand His nature more clearly and how to emulate Him in our own lives, today and for eternity.

The Touch of Tenderness Pt. 1

The fruit of the righteous - a tree of life!

A compilation Sep 15, 2015

Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.—1 Peter 3:8

*

Everybody needs encouragement! Most people feel a certain amount of inferiority complex and tend to get a little discouraged with themselves, so encouragement is a very important thing! We all need the encouragement of others, and yet most of us fail all too often to express appreciation or comfort to those about us.

The Lord knows that encouragement is very important. … “Whatsoever things are good, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things!” We need to apply that to those around us and try to remind ourselves constantly to think on and praise others for their good qualities, the good things, as the Lord does with us! Amen?—David Brandt Berg

Father forgets

Listen, son, I am saying this as you lie asleep, one little paw crumpled under your cheek and the blond curls stickily wet on your damp forehead. I have stolen into your room alone. Just a few minutes ago, as I sat reading my paper in the library, a stifling wave of remorse swept over me. Guiltily, I came to your bedside.

These are the things I was thinking, son: I had been cross to you. I scolded you as you were dressing for school because you gave your face merely a dab with a towel. I took you to task for not cleaning your shoes. I called out angrily when you threw some of your things on the floor.

At breakfast I found fault, too. You spilled things. You gulped down your food. You put your elbows on the table. You spread butter too thick on your bread. And as you started off to play and I made for my train, you turned and waved a hand and called, “Goodbye, Daddy!” and I frowned, and said in reply, “Hold your shoulders back!”

Then it began all over again in the late afternoon. As I came up the road I spied you, down on your knees, playing marbles. There were holes in your stockings. I humiliated you in front of your friends by marching you ahead of me to the house. Stockings were expensive—and if you had to buy them, you would be more careful! Imagine that, son, from a father!

Do you remember, later, when I was reading in the library, how you came in timidly, with a sort of hurt look in your eyes? When I glanced up over my paper, impatient at the interruption, you hesitated at the door. “What is it you want?” I snapped.

You said nothing, but ran across in one tempestuous plunge, and threw your arms around my neck and kissed me, and your small arms tightened with an affection that God had set blooming in your heart and which even neglect could not wither. And then you were gone, pattering up the stairs.

Well, son, it was shortly afterwards that my paper slid from my hands and a terrible sickening fear came over me. What has habit been doing to me? The habit of finding fault, of reprimanding—this was my reward to you for being a boy. It was not that I did not love you; it was that I expected too much of youth. I was measuring you by the yardstick of my own years.

And there was so much that was good and fine and true in your character. The little heart of you was as big as the dawn itself over the wide hills. This was shown by your spontaneous impulse to rush in and kiss me good night. Nothing else matters tonight, son. I have come to your bedside in the darkness, and I have knelt there, ashamed!

It is a feeble atonement; I know you would not understand these things if I told them to you during your waking hours. But tomorrow I will be a real daddy! I will chum with you, and suffer when you suffer, and laugh when you laugh. I will bite my tongue when impatient words come. I will keep saying as if it were a ritual: “He is a boy—a little boy!”—W. Livingston Larned

For Where Your Treasures Are

Embedded image from another site

Written by Rosane Pereira February 2015

As a child, I loved to visit my grandmother Sabina’s small house in the mountains. My aunt Iota lived next door, so my sister and I would spend our days exploring with our cousins, going to the waterfall, swimming in the river that ran behind the property, or climbing the many mountains in the Mantigueira Ridge. It was heaven on earth for a city girl like me.

Their family didn’t have as much materially as ours did. Once, my cousin Anette said, “I may not be rich in things, but I am rich in my heart, and Grandma told me that is the most important!” That was a new thought for me. Was there another kind of riches other than material ones?

I also remember how impressed I was when my mother took me to see The Ten Commandments1 at a movie theater. Moses could have stayed in his comfort zone until the day he died, but he didn't — he left everything to free his people from oppression. It took me until adulthood to understand how much it must have cost him to follow God.

When I first read the Gospels, one of the stories that stood out to me was the one of the jeweler who discovered a pearl of great price and immediately sold all that he had in order to buy it.2 Jesus explained that this pearl was the kingdom of God, and when I read that, I felt a burning in my heart. I too wanted that pearl!

Jesus also taught: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”3 Being from a metropolitan beach city with a high crime rate, I understood that concept very well.

As I matured, I came to understand more clearly that true riches are not things of this earth; they are joy, peace, love, goodness, faith, and all the other real valuables that God wants to give each of us daily. Ours is the easy part, opening our souls to receive His gifts. If our treasures are in heaven, our hearts will be filled with happiness both now and in the life to come.

"WE'RE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS!" (GAL.3:28).

God's people are called out of every nation and religion on the face of the Earth to become one nation, one people under God.--Not just under Him, but in Him! All the millions of Saints throughout this Earth who know and believe in and love Jesus are part of the Kingdom of God.--Regardless of their race or color or creed or language or nation!

We, who have received Christ, are nothing but Christians in the realm of the Spirit! God doesn't see any fleshly characteristic! In spiritual things there's no longer any Jew nor Gentile, no male nor female, no Black nor White, no bond nor free! (Gal.3:28). "Man looketh upon the outward appearance, but God looketh upon the heart!" (1Sam.16:7). It's the color of the heart that counts!
