They'll start with a numbing solution applied with a q-tip, and then inject both sides of the gum adjacent to the tooth with pain-killer. What followed was more uncomfortable than painful - a lot of grinding and drilling to prepare the tooth for its cap. The uncomfortable part was breathing at times.

As I wrote, very little pain - just a slight burning with the two painkiller shots.
