Tony, there are heaps of ways to eat cheaply, for us... food is not an issue here... our issue is that we are taxed to the hilt and our commodity fees are way over the top.

I dont know about you, but I just manage to be OK on my own, and I have enough to give to mine... but I dont have enough to give to strangers...

and nor do I intend to...

I dont think I am mean spirited... I need to be able to one day when I stop working make sure that I am not a burden to mine. I think that is fairly logical. ????cheers

serene56: The birth control programs are in place but I honestly think there must be some kind of political agenda behind this.

It's outrageous that the Western world is getting fatter while people are starving to death.

The last I saw on TV was that they were handing out birth kits! In Africa?

that’s the sterile swabs and stuff for pregnant women who are giving birth,

The so called western world revolves around taxes! But to have that we require jobs,
The poorer countries have no or little tax and very few jobs because of it!

Just think about how much money you pay out just to live where you do and what it takes to provide you with that life?

You cant blame the western world way of life for the poverty off others!

Just like you cant blame others for you life’s decisions!

Oh, I know tony...for Blizzard. Nothing wrong with baked beans...I just added my 2 cents in terms of my own taste. But if you buy a bad of dried legumes, as you would know, and mixed beans for winter soups, they are really cheap and go a long way. Eggs are also relatively cheap, and can make yummy omelettes. Also, baked pasta with veges, shepherd's pie with cheaper mince, good ol' chilli con carne(boy, that takes me back!)...and so on...for dessert, baked apple or even stewed. it's not expensive.

If anyone has to have lots of meat, buy in bulk from a farmer's market, and save heaps.

Not unless you wash the dishes!

No I don’t eat dog food or lentils?

I am far to better a cook than that,

As for coming to dinner at my place?

You will just have to wait in line like the rest of them!

The best kind of cooking, tony.applause ...I often make a large pot of yummy soup which lasts me over a week, so that I always have some to warm up for a light meal while it's been so cold.

Apart from the fabulous Thai and Indian curries we can concoct these days.smitten

bluejay2011: Greed

There is enough money and food in the world to feed everyone. If the politicians really wanted to help, they would build dams, wells, etc and teach them how to grow their own food.

If they stopped spending so much money on wars and put it into these countries the world would be a better place.

And they do use them as lab rats, unbelievable the things that happen in the world.

I cannot imagine watching my child starve to death ( a long and painful death ) and not be able to do a thing about it.

Very sad

I agree BJ, I've been reading through the comments, and keep thinking of the old saying..

give a man a fish and feed him for a day .... teach a man to fish and feed him for life.

Droughts, wars, civil unrest, and dictatorships seem to be the reasons for the problem. Greed, power and wars, seem to be the reason for no solution. JMO

well said Tony... I think the whole pensioners eating petfood story is a load of BS!! very mad

I went shopping yesterday a tin of cat food is $1.09, and yep baked beans are $0.65 and loaf of bread is $1.00. A 6 pack of 2 minute noodles is $1.00 - all those items are far cheaper than pet food

if they can afford to be eating catfood everynight... they must be pretty well off laugh bloody luxury
