Merriweather: Nope, never watch movies... I live in my own wee world..

But yeah, the $$ will come in handy, and all the blood taken will reveal if there is anything wrong with me.. so all in all, I guess its not for everyone... but tis done now...

I have been outside paving, so I know I am not dying... just lacking my usual bounce...

You might not be Dying but I have ...sent away for some clothes dye Bahama Blue from the UK I also got 200grams of Flamingo Pink much cheaper from there.

I put half the blue in the washing machine with salt and saw what a glorious colour it was so raced around getting old shirts, dressing gown and nighties....Now I have got heaps of beautiful clothes in a Aqua turquoise in different shades as the ones I added at the end of the cycle came out a lovely pale Aqua am thrilled to bits. They all look look like new again.

Now to start on the deep pink.

gotta go joy cartwheel

It's not easy finding dyes eh Martia confused

There's been times I've wanted to get some and all I've found is black or navy in the supermarket sigh

Back to the topic though - onya for doing what you did merri, but you wouldn't catch me doing it.

I don't even take malaria tablets anymore, just up the Vit Bs.

Call me stupid but I think some of these preventions are worse than the diseases if you're not susceptible/exposed to them.

Fair enough Serene, wave but whilst I was having my checkup... with the doctor, he was saying that in this months medical journal that he was reading, all those vitamins and things that I take, he was referring to... that I'd be well off them, as they have just proved that they can take 5 yrs off my life... I was a big shocked actually....

Just stuff like Multi vitamins, magnesium, calcium etc.. weird what we are told, one day, then a couple of years passes, and the information changes...

Mind tho...It would sure be better if the medical professionals could make up their minds...

No offence intended but from your bio working for a NGO i am assuming that you and your "colleague" would have been well aware of all the risks/side effects in participating in these drug trails?
You certainly don't look "silly" and your age precludes that anyway
so one can only assume that your "greed" overcome you common sense/
intelligence and life experience?.

Yes true... I look forward to the money in Sept. But seriously, I posted this thread when I was feeling lethargic, last two days I have been fine, did a lot of work in the garden yesterday, and have been outdoors paving this morning since 8am. so its all done and dusted now. I feel fine, bit of a sore back, but that will go away..

Most nights I come home from work and do something in the garden. At the moment its paving.. when the paving is finished, I have more retaining walls to build... stairs to build, and then hopefully it will be done as I want it.. cartwheel cartwheel

Would be interesting to know the basis for that information merri wave

I understand that vitamins and herbal preparations should be used sparingly and only if necessary .. I think many of us pour products down our throats and pop vitamin pills thinking we are doing ourselves a big favour confused

I guess it falls into the category of self-diagnosis and self-medication, however one would think that with the abundance of fresh produce that is available in the Western world and a healthy diet, vitamin supplements are mostly unnecessary.
Mar 12, 2012 12:42 AM CST Talk about being silly...
Some popular multivitamins run 1,500 micrograms a pill, twice the recommended daily amount and a level that, in one recent study, doubled the risk of bone fractures. Some supplements provide as much as 4,500 micrograms a day, well above the level that the National Academy of Sciences calls an upper limit for safety.

measured tracked mortality of women over a 19-year period. Researchers found that women taking vitamin supplements died earlier than those women who did not take anything.

Response from the Vitamins May Increase Women’s Risk of Dying Research Finds

Shaklee’s head scientists, Dr. Jamie McManus, and asked if Shaklee had a response to the results. This is what Dr. McManus wrote back.

Hi ah Serene and Robwave wave

To Serene... yes you are right. we do have a good supply of fresh food, and I suppose if one eats correctly, there should be no need. However, I find that magnesium stop cramps for me... and its to do with lifestyle... I am generally crouched over on my knees doing something or rather, I find that mg stops my feet from cramping.
If I did not do all of this paving and building walls and planting etc, I prolly would not need it...

Thank you Rob for posting those links... Yes, that is pretty much what the doctor said to me...

and I will not be purchasing multivitamins anymore...

But I still need calcium, that is my own doctors orders...

You guys are great...applause

I do take a multi and Bs every day as being a veggie I tend to get run down if I'm not conscientious about my diet .. need to keep up with the chickpeas/lentils etc for good nutrition and I'm not always in the mood to cook bigtime.

At times (probably 2 or 3 times a year) I take iron, I tend to know when I need a top-up.

I remember that you dont eat meat... so I guess the iron would be good for you...

but you know, sometimes its really hard to feel in the mood to cook when you live alone... I eat lots of raw veges, but boil potatoes. thing is I find, that if I cook and have left overs, I rarely go back to them, and its just a terrible waste.

Tonight tho... I cooked with my granddaughter, and we both sat down to tea... It was lovely...smitten she is such good company...

You must look after yourself I found that when I was on my own I did the very same thing, plus I am of an era when potatoes was the main on the plate and I love mashed potatoes, peas with beef and I make my gravy with oxo.
Or porterhouse steak, salad and Idaho potatoes. Not keen on pasta except with spag bolonaise,Stir fry is not my thing except now and again.

But when on my own beans on toast, soup or scrambled eggs. Not a good diet.dunno

My daughter suffered with near constant headaches and cramps and the doctors couldn't do anything except Panadene Forte.

She ended up going to the witchdoctor who gave her some vile liquid to drink - made up of lots of things her body was lacking. She had to stop as it was making her queazy. But after doing the non-wheat then non-dairy bits for a few weeks and knocked them out as the problem, it was on to magnesium tablets for a couple of weeks. And it worked.

So now she makes sure she has lots of green vegies as they are a good natural source of magnesium. No more cramps and rarely with a headache.

Merriweather: I was urged by a colleague to participate in a Flu virus phase 2 trial. so I decided, alrighty, sounds OK.. money sounded OK.. so I bounced off to the hospital. Silly me... I was bouncing on Wednesday, but the last two days, I have been so very tired and barely managing to keep my eyes open, my joints have been sore, and I now wonder what on earth possessed me..

Does anyone else do silly things like this..??

I've only had the flu shot once, never again, was sooo sick.

I still need to have an ordinary flu shot... find that they help for me, as I work with so many people.

Didn't much believe in the flu shot because I never really had anything than a couple of days feeling weak and taking a sickie.

Until I had a full dose of the flu. 2 weeks of of sweating chills. Now I have the flu shot, even thought it does give me a minor dose the next day. Got to remember not to have it on a Friday as it means a waste of a weekend.frustrated frustrated
