annaroach: I think this saying is very appropriate for a dating site.
When listening to people on the forums, and from private mail. we can possibly make a a decision on their character, we think,, yes he/she seems nice.
When it comes to meeting them we could change our minds ,based on what we see.
All free to discuss,, try not to go off on a tangent
Totally agree, have had some great banter in mails and I thought this guy is definitely my type, but unfortunately on meeting, there was often no physical attraction at all I`m not hung up on looks, but there has to be some spark . jmo

Looking at a woman has never made me angry I don't find women to have punchable faces. I've known men orbit a woman's world because she's hot, it would be amazingly difficult to find the wrong words for him. Anything she says is all leeway when she's the apple of his eye.

It's a slippery slope
You can think them nice online, meet them and be relieved they weren't hit with the ugly stick but then find when they're not behind a keyboard they're somewhat lacking, conversationally-speaking
HexagonKeySet: Never heard this saying before and neither it appears has anyone who made entry on Google ... so, I'd be interested to know where it came from :-)
Opinions about people on here ... they tend to vary like straws blowing in the wind!
I've had messages over a long period from some telling me wise I am when I agree with them and what an A/H I am when opinions differ ...
I can marvel at the behaviours displayed here, but that's not sufficient to form an opinion as to how the person actually is !
It's the Internet Anna ... nothing here is 'real'
Everything doesn't come from google.
This comment was made by a very spiritual and learned lady that i had the pleasure of listening to last week. To me it made perfect sense,,, and it relates perfectly ( to me ) for this site.
I am very well aware that not all is real on here or anywhere for that matter.

Indeed you're dead right ... NOTHING comes from google, it's just a repository for things that PEOPLE put there - and I look as it interests me to know the origin source of material and often there's a 'thread of new learning to pursue'
I don;t mind admitting 'I don;t get it' ... I see all of the senses as 'receptors' ie receivers of data / information and apart from giving someone a dirty look don't understand how they eye can be an aggressor ...
Happy to hear your PoV ... no worries if that's too personal a thing to expand upon!
Maybe it's not necessarily looks, or the eye when we meet up.
As a deaf old git I've become aware of how much we hear through feeling vibrations, maybe with our skin, our bones, our hair.
When we look, 94% of our neurones follow one pathway to the visual centre in the brain. 6% go different ways.
People who have a disconnection in the 94% pathway can't see, but have been known to be able to point to objects in a room when asked.
People who have a disconnection in the 6% visual pathways have reported a sense on unreality, one man so convinced his father was an android, he cut off his head to prove there were wires inside.
So, before we even get onto the complexities of smell and information we may glean from others through aroma; before we even discuss body language and the way we give off information about even our most formative experiences, hearing and seeing are way, way more complex than prettiness, or handsomeness can ever touch upon.

i think i explained it quite well on first page
Briefly,,,,,, if ,when men and women meet,,, they might find things about that person that they find, unattractive about them .
Hence the saying,,, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!
