Miwagi: I'll leave you to sort it out then. I'll just stick to issues in my own country.

Politics aren't quite as divisive in others countries

I won't be sorting anything out, I don't have much interest in politics. It's over 30 years since I last bothered voting.

John Smith, he was a Scot.

Last of the old school and a very nice man, as I recall.

He was the leader after Kinloch and succeeded by that twit, Tony Blair.

ChesneyChrist: In other news the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce is recommending that we give £10000 to everyone under 55 to help weather the storms of an ageing population, Brexit, and the rise of the machines. The reactionary retired who grew up spoiled by social democracy, high wages and free uni are do everything they can to make capitalism harsh for the young in the hope this will spare more resources for their pension, but the reactionary retired will have to contend with a rebellion from many of those still useful to society. You can bet young and working age people vote in coming elections like they've never voted before reacting to this attempt by the old to eat the young.

Actually my first 'high wage' pay packet was less than £20 a week (it might even have been a month, I can't honestly remember), my first car cost £20, and I never had a penny left at the end of the month. This was 1975.

The real reason that the older generation 'appears' to have had it easy is that we didn't go clubbing, foreign holidays were out of the question, marriages and wedding receptions were usually just a cheap suit, a buffet do in a village hall, and a honeymoon on the south coast. We never had smartphones, so no contracts to pay every month, no pc games as no pc's, and yes, we paid our parents for our board and keep from the day we started work. Getting our own roof over our own heads was expected, and anyone who stayed living with their parents was considered a bit of a mummy's boy.

I worked 12 hours a day most of the time and 18 hours a day quite often, and never went home for 3 days once.

Oh, yes, these journo's know it all don't they, though the only skill that most possess is to take cheap shots at easy targets that can't shoot back.

I earned about £3.65 for a Saturday afternoon job in 1982, Bristol.

It must have been £20 a week you were earning in 1975, because my wages were low and a struggle to manage on, even though I was at school and I had some stuff provided by my parents.

jac_the_gripper: The daily mail is a trashy paper for people who are not quite stupid, or trashy enough for the Sun. The Sun aims for a reading age of 13 years old.

The person revealing the 'news' about Corbyn avoids substantiating any of his claims using techniques believable to those who read spy novels, or watch a bit of James Bond.

From what I've seen, it's no more than a desperate smear campaign.

The Conservative's are likely very concerned about having their butts whooped in the next election. A smear campaign is probably the only way they can get rid of Corbyn and doing it too close to the election will arouse suspicion.

It's quite a clever bit of media manipulation, given it neatly hits at its target of stupid people. It's nauseating, but I think it will work - the nation will vote in unprincipled, power hungry, egocentric low life's again, forgetting they'd rather see children burn alive than lose a couple of grand profit.

Well said Jac
If the Filth, Special Branch, MI5 or 6 had anything Tangible on JC for his activities in the 1980s we would have heard about it by now just the same as the Romans tried to stitch up another JC and succeeded IT IS ALLEGED .
