Can America be great again? ( Archived) (107)

I think so, but I know however, I know that there are so many who would not agree with this statement.

First off you have to live in a country that is far better than America, ie SWITZERLAND, to laugh at this slogan. You can be very lucky and live in the other countries that can absolutely ridicule this statement or the goal of the President in making it great again.

I am referring to most of us, who once felt that this country was great and that it can get back its luster again.

Note: if 69 percent or so of the world are living in poverty and way below the standards of an ordinary American citizen, I am sure you say, America was great and that it can be great again.

Another note: Why would there be no other country that consistently for the past 50 years been sought by illegal immigrants?

Anyways good morning forum land and may you all have a good day.

I can see this being a troublesome thread Lindy ...

How are you defining 'Better than America?'

I ask as using SWitzerland looks as if you might be focussing only on money ?

The USA lags behind many 'poorer' countries on many scales, infant mortality, access to healthcare, crime, deaths by medicine, crime levels, number of people incarcerated, number of people killed by police, core educational skills ...

Even looking at 'apparent wealth' ... well, the nation is 20 trillion in debt (which nobody is talking about as you continue to bomb your way round the globe) and there's more millionaires in Moscow than any US City ...

So ... how ARE you defining success Lindy ?

Hex good question. Although even success is very relative. I was more referring to the social benefits and ways of life in general but you can be right. In the meantime I am getting ready to work and I will get back with you later, okay?

Thanks for your opinion.

Isn't it the case that your time comes and then goes? Britain has had to come to terms with that. Many seem to think it's China's turn next. Not a thought that fills me with optimism.

Absolutely harbal.

There's no doubt any country can rise up to be great.

Speaking of G Britain, it was the leader of colonization, too asbd look at it's wealth it still intact.

Now this thread is about the ability to make it great again.

But yes China is a possibility of becoming the greatest.

The USA only stopped being great for the 8-years prior to POTUS Trump.

What defines a great country..... I like this explanation, “Since a nation is nothing more than a collection of people living within a set of physical borders, we can measure the greatness of a nation in the same way. By the contributions they have made to the world, to mankind. And by their generosity, how their ideas have benefited the human race.

I think Israel will be another great nation. They have a great spirit that keeps bouncing back.

Dedo, that's a very goid question.

Here's what I can say, if a country gets to be great, the world benefits in the form of assistance or donation. And even protection.

oh bunny nobody buys that ,,,The US became great after dropping an A bomb and started racketeering other countries
donations are always recalculated or a bribe
With all due respect to American people and others who think that they are patriots or do gooders but in fact refuse to face reality that they are only serving a small group of psychopaths

wow what? confused

“America has been named as the world's most generous nation in the world, where its citizens give the most to charity, according to a new report. The USA, New Zealand and Canada have the highest rate of charitable donations as a percentage gross domestic product (GDP), the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) found.Feb 2, 2016”

“Norway and Sweden were next. In dollar amount terms, the U.S. give more than any other country, spending more than $31 billion—though that accounts for a comparatively low 0.19 percent of GDP. (By contrast, Americans believe that as much as 28 percent of U.S. budget goes to foreign aid, which would be something.)Apr 9, 2014”

“According to the federal government, for fiscal year 2012, “The United States remained the world's largest bilateral donor, obligating approximately $48.4 billion—$31.2 billion in economic assistance and $17.2 billion in military assistance.”Oct 15, 2014”

The U.S. disbursed $33.2 billion—$19 billion in economic assistance to 184 countries and $14.2 billion in military assistance to 142 countries. Out of the top six U.S. foreign aid recipients, five of them were Muslim countries. And yet it seems the U.S. can’t buy good press in the Middle East.

“The UN boasts 193 members, and the U.S. provided economic assistance to 184 of them, or 96% of the countries in the world. To be sure, the amount of assistance drops significantly after the top 10 countries or so, but still.… Of course, State Department officials might claim that some of that money is to help the poor. But China has the second largest economy in the world—and is a major buyer of U.S. debt. So we borrow money from China in order to give them financial assistance?”

Yeah thats one way how they ``justify `` draining the budget- taxpayers money , the other ``justification`` is war on terrorism and keeping America safe by sending Americans off to war in some far far away countries ...The U.S. Has Only Been At Peace For 21 Years Total Since Its Birth,America has been at War 93% of the time – 222 out of 239 ears – Since 1776-baby...wink
