galrads: Hel! I owe 11.700 USDs on my zero engine emission 2015 Audi Q5 3.0 Turbo Diesel that originally cost $55k.
What do I do?
<> Sell it and pocket the cash and use Uber and buses?
<> Trade it in on a new $75k Audi vehicle
<> Junk it.
<> Give it away
Never understood the paying huge monthly payments for a car, if you can't afford to pay cash why buy it? Get something you can afford, that way you get better discount/extras and you can sell/scrap do whatever you want with it. Your car is valued at around 26k I would guess, so trading in for a new same model is going to mean paying maybe $800 a month, personally I would sell it, pay off the excess finance and use the remainder as a deposit on a car that is cheaper, after all a car is only a means to get from A to B conveniently.
In the UK there is a scheme whereby you pay a large deposit, and a very small monthly payment, then after a set number of miles or two years, you return the car and take home a new one, obviously there are certain rules applied, such as regular servicing and not excessive mileage, it started for businesses and progressed to private ownership. But once started you really can never get out of the contract, so limits you to one brand of Vehicle, unless the original dealer sells more than one brand of course.
if they have really stuffed its performance then perhaps you might, but how much would you loose probably best to carefully consider before you talk yourself into parting with it.
I just attempted to check USA second hand values and though most on offer were 2Lt not three i amaged to find a couple 3Lt

Car loans say it all, don't they? Stop trying to pretend you're more important than you are, you know this is all connected to Trump, image is everything, and not landing on the moon anymore? Materially resourceless men from the fake bourgeoisie.
If you want to help small business and the shrinking middle class don't take out a car loan. Buy a car which fits your standing in society and pay for it outright, and then spend the money no longer going to pay down debt in your local bakery, stable, swimming pool or whatever.
AUTOMAKER Volkswagen says it’s being fined 1 billion euros ($1.550 billion) by German authorities in connection with the diesel emissions scandal.
Volkswagen said in a statement on Wednesday that it would accept the fine imposed by prosecutors in the German city of Braunschweig.
Prosecutors concluded that Volkswagen failed to properly oversee the activity of its engine development department, resulting in some 10.7 million diesel vehicles with illegal emissions-controlling software being sold worldwide. Volkswagen admitted in September 2015 to manipulating 11 million diesel vehicles worldwide with software designed to reduce harmful emissions during testing but that allowed them to rise to many times legal limits in real driving conditions.
The scandal dubbed “dieselgate” has so far cost the world’s largest carmaker more than 25 billion euros in buybacks, fines and compensation, and the company remains mired in legal woes at home and abroad.

The auto industry here and everything that supports it would flop overnight if consumers could no longer obtain loans to buy cars, SUVs etc. everyone would be driving junk too or walking. We don’t have a lot of alternate transportation he like those found in Europe and other places.
I have a 99 Nissan Altima I bought in 2008 for $3275. Including repairs, tires etc., since 08 my total cost is $5157. I've put 53K miles on the car which works out to under 10 cents/mile (including the cost of the car). The car gets 33 MPG. and runs great. I wouldn't trade my Altima for your car even if you paid me.
Mazda gearbox started whinging four weeks ago, is currently on its way back from gearbox-doctor-Brett, repair main box $1,700.00 + freight, + new clutch $400.00 I purchased off eBay, + out and in etc etc If its not one thing its another, is 75km from here to town. Financing a car in the US is much different than Europe ( if they even offer such financing). Positives: on a 3 yr lease your paying for less than one half the vehicle cost/ maintenance is nonexistence except for normal wear and tear expenses/you get a brand new car every 3 yrs/ the money you save by eliminating the original cash outlay for the vehicle could have been invested in the stock market, in the likes of Apple/Netflix/Microsoft and made much more than the lease payments. So, in essence your car is for FREE........

Christ , you have once said something that I agree with . Most farmers around here lose 4 times in depreciation per year than what my car cost me . Others lease their vehicles costing as much as hire purchase , and then buy them when the company wants out as its time for repairs etc . Dumb fec's , miss out on all the depreciation for tax purposes and "miss" out on the guarantee period .

Why would anyone spend $45K on a second hand vehicle that you can buy for under $30k all across the USA, and what happens when the powers above, decide to stop selling Diesel altogether? By a bicycle, cheap and renewable energy, easy maintenance, and you can boast how you are helping reduce your carbon footprint. Turn the audi into a playroom for the grandkids. Win win win situation

Why? Because galrads owned it and he put 35k miles on it.
