At work, We thought a lot of our unsupported automated systems that couldn’t be updated, at work would fail. These systems ran on Earlier IBM and DEC Computer Operating system platforms .

Thank you Selene, Harbal and Galrad for posting.

BTW Selene ... no worries about our opinion of "soul". I don't get offended when people have a difference of opinion with me. hug

Now, back to the end of the world in 1999 laugh

I was scared to death at that time. I remember holding my breath when the ball in New York was falling. I expected all the lights to go out, for people to cause a stampede trying to get out of the corral they have for viewers of the crystal ball. I worried if I would still have a job.

Today is the first time that I read what the software problem was and I still don't understand it uh oh

The question is, will the same panic happen in 2999............if there is still an Earth? sigh

What was a disappointment? This thread or the fact that what they projected would happen at midnight in 1999 didn't happen?

What I should have done was thrown a house part and about 5 minutes before the count down, leave the crowd and go to the circuit breakers and when everyone counted down, I would kill the power and make everyone think the world was ending smile

laugh OMG that would have been the ticket but also might have caused a few heart attacks. The screaming would sound like cheering on New Years Eve.

Do it next time Track laugh

We all survived but it was touch and go for the month of December. Reporters, experts, scientists, electricians, they all had us building bomb shelters as you saw in the link I provided, buying Coleman lanterns, stocking up on food. It was more frightening than when Khrushchev was in power.

You haven't realized all the other hyped threats fall in this same category, yet.
I ignoried it. Never been into any version of numerology.
BTW, Mr. K wasn't nearly the bad guy Stalin was; just an apparatchik with fears of his own.
