Your post is an oxymoron. You brag about how great you think you are and then you pull out the puppy dog eyes saying you aren't good with dating in general hoping someone will stroke your feathers. Sounds like you're looking for someone to confirm that you are so good looking, so funny, fairly wise, goal oriented and social.Here's a clue, stop bragging.

I did take a moment to check your profile out. You are a good looking man, the one thing that stood out for me is your relationship status is seperated. I know a lot of women prefer a man that is more available than seperated. I have known men who were seperated for years and still had a difficult time attracting a good women. Seperated is read as "I am not available". 
And then again what do I know. I have been single for years.

Ok, a real answer this time.
When people hit a certain age, they generally know what they want and what they don't want. Women and men tend to be more picky than when they are younger because after some experience, they know themselves more and know what they are looking for and a lot will not settle for anything less.
Dating do get harder as you get older because most people are looking for something specific more so and will not settle for less.

And maybe this is why they say that youth is wasted on the young. By the time you've worked out what you want, nobody wants you.
Speaking of all this, real Mr Khan, one of the reasons women forgive an older man is because they don't mind him looking a bit crappy and seem to prefer his less to impress approach to life. There is less standing on ceremony and less butthurtedness afterwards. I don't think funny and wise when you've told me that you're funny and wise, very goal-oriented.. is that won't take no for an answer, will get really upset about it? Have you ever heard the saying love finds you when you're not looking for it?
