HealthyLiving: Marty, you have such a beautiful heart! How wonderfully thoughtful! Wish we all could! It would be a blast and such an act of love!!!
Can't think of anyone who would be more deserving to receive this act of kindness!
We all love you BEB!!!
thanks marty and HL...those words have deep meaning to me, just to know you said and feel them are comforting. "we" the town have been using the phrase..."we can either laugh or cry"...i think everyone is out of tears, we all lost so much. its overwhelming to watch your house go under then see it after the water leave, but to know so much of the state was hit...32 ft of water in one city...its amazing...
ppl are getting upset and losing what patience they had, its a long road ahead for most. I listened to the warnings and advice others were giving and got the majority of our things out before the major water hit us. so i try to keep that in mind, that my loss isnt as big as many, but at times i fall into a pity party. I will never forget standing in the 4 ft of water stacking sandbags for 9 hrs, then it just went under. My oldest son stayed up til 2 am trying to help our neighbors, it was like we knew it was a losing battle, but was too hard to just stop and walk away. the water just kept coming...anyways, not sure how long i can be on here as our electrical power isnt in full force so it gets turned off at times.
blue_eyed_blonde: Hiiii to all...just wanted to stop in and say Hi and I miss you all. It's been crazy here and sometimes almost horrible with the flooding, but good news the flood water has gone down for the most part at least around me. Just sending love and hugs!!!!
Love and Hugs right back at you... You've been missed....Worried about and much loved.... It's good to see you Sweetie X a bazillionkatrillion
Just stand in the silence of it all and open your eyes... look at all of it with clear eyes. If that means you have to cry them clear, then do so. Once you have noticed all the losses, look around you. Look at the little stuff that you didn't notice.
After Katrina, I took a silent moment just to listen to the sounds of people coming out of hiding. It had a deafening roar to it & I almost let it bring me down. I was spending so much time looking around the ground I almost walked into one of the biggest spiderwebs ever! It was about 4' across and had been spun in the bend of a destroyed pine tree. Most impressively, was the huge Monarch butterfly it had caught. No doubt this little guy had been hiding somewhere throughout the storm & now he was about to enjoy his first real meal. I think I watched him for 15 mins, carefully wrapping up this delicate meal for later. It was as if he was saying grace before dinner.
This small moment brought the reality of all the sadness into perspective.... it was just one second in time & now all my tomorrows were fresh & new. You too have all fresh & new tomorrows. You have the most important jewels anyone could ask for, your friends & family. All is well now. Be alive.

hi alan...naa theres a couple here from Iowa, thanks for your flowers....very sweet. parkerburg was something else wasnt it? my boys went to new hartford and worked the weekend there as soon as they were letting volunteers in. they were quite surprised by all the damage and losses they seen there.
i wish the sandbags would of worked in more places..it was just too high. i think they did save a couple buildings as the waters went further south. the rivers were mean and unforgiving to those who stood in its way. for once my town had the white rapids as we watched the force of it.
ive been watching the news alot its tuff over there... im glad your area is salvageable
been praying of course not knowing you guys were ok was awful im so glad you found a moment to let us know!
the mighty mississippi- yikes-mother nature is in a mood!
thanks for the prayers mf...last night was the first time i was able to get online....the servers and still tryin to get everyone online..so i never know how long i will be on. otherwise i would of let you know sooner. i do enjoy having electricity, water bck..the sewer would be nice to have..but those portapotties are better then nothing..LOL this was a big wake up call for many of us, what we take advantage of and what we need to appreicate more..
