phoenix: The first time was '94 and I was behind a bar the Les Halles area of Paris..It was a Friday evening and there was a thunder storm and two girls walked in like drowned rats..something clicked with one of them...She returned the following night looking amazing, a few years she gave me two fantastic kids..unfortunalty the fairy story didn't have a happy ending...c'est la vie.........
As for the second..she is someting else, I'm mean she's cookin', just her look would melt a snow man in the North Pole.......
love is like other feelings, ephemeral ..., first, second, third, whatever sight. What happens after is second sight feelings, third sight, yada yada, they just build on one another.

BnaturAl: yes.love is like other feelings, ephemeral ..., first, second, third, whatever sight. What happens after is second sight feelings, third sight, yada yada, they just build on one another.
That may be ,but can you say that the feelings you had the first time round still add up the same 5 years or so later ? does that not then mean what we call "puppy love" is untrue ?
For years kids have never been taken serious on the subject ,but if it can happen to an adult ,who is to say its not the same for kids ? most of you i know will disagree ,but to me first sight love is no different from puppy love to infatuation .
yes it can be grown but how deep does it really become then if its not built ?
I had gone with a friend to visit another friend of hers I had never met before ...
We were just about to leave my friend's friend house and were standing in the entrance hall when the most beautiful guy I had seen in my life started walking (actually more like gliding) down the stair ... Him and me both stood transfixed staring at one another ... time stood still ... everything and everyone receeded into nothingness apart from us standing there for a timeless amount of time ... We eventually shook ourselves out of it while my friend and her friend stared at us with their jaws hanging before dissolving into a fit of giggles. Nothing was said ... but we later started "going out" together as boyfriend and girfriend as he turned out to be the brother of the friend we visited ...

dillydally: "Love at First Sight" is really kind of a misnomer. Love usually takes some time to develop. There are several times when I have seen someone and been immediately attracted to them, when I have been able to see from the first minute that there was something special and interesting about them -but that doesn't constitute love for me . You can't really have that deep caring about someone from the first moment you see them (other than in the case of a newborn baby, which is the exception to the rule). What's your take ?
I am trying to remember. I think it's been a long time since I experienced love at first sight...meaning like I really felt love at first site. I think I was 21 when it last happened...and nothing happened. It was some girl from Alaska, she gave me her number after we chatted in some parking lot, but she never was home or returned my calls....
Actually now that I think about it, I do experience some powerful emotions upon fist sight. However, I know better not to call it love at first sight, but I do wonder if this initial feeling of connection when our eyes meet means that she is a potential soulmate for this life time or from some other lifetime.
I can usually gauge this pretty well if I don't immediately undress the woman upon first sight with my thoughts. It's like I get lost in her eyes and feel something strong coming from her energy field...
yes i have and I'll never her or how she turned my young life upside down.
Whatever she needed I woud do anything to get it for her. My love for her was so complete and overwhelming, it effected my job ,my studies, even my relationship with my family, but nothing couild distract nor pull me away from her. I'll never this love at first sight....

So then do you associate the "love at first sight" feelings with lust or infatuation ?
My own experience of lust at first sight has taught me it doesn't have to be with a long term thing ,iv had the feeling and never did anything about it (although yes ,i have wondered) .Love tho is a different ball game altogether ,how can you give reason then why you love that person ? "just because" doesn't cover it and "i just know" doesn't mean jack .

In many ways, yes. Like I said in my last post, if I feel something without undressing the woman with my eyes, then I think it is a little more profound than lust or just wanting to slam it vigorously...but I won't call it love at first site. Love to me is something manifested over time.
But to call it love at first sight is a personal experience and love has different meanings for different people. So if somebody really does feel love at first site, I don't think we are the ones to tell then it's not.

God no and sorry if i came across that way .Iv never been in love so really dont have enough evidence to slate any claim on who has .Lust fizzles out eventually and infatuation can turn creepy ,well at least i think so .I suppose my opinion will differ as i get older but right now this is how i feel now .
So then i ask ,your own personal experience do you think it's lust =head love = heart ?

The problem is that in the English language there is not any clear cut consensus on the definition of the word love. Many languages have different words to describe different facets of love.
Still, I do believe in "love at first sight". You are right that a deep lasting love often requires time and consistent effort to develop. However, I still believe that a person can detect something beyond physical attraction in even just a glimpse. Call it kindred spirits,or whatever. The only way to know it is to experience it.
The feeling is so eerily familiar that it is frightening. I know because I have experienced it. We don't want to call it love, because we are afraid to believe in it. Maybe afraid of what people will think of you if you tell them you love a person without knowing them. Maybe afraid of being mistaken, and getting hurt as a result. Too often our feelings confuse us, when in reality their purpose is to guide us.
Why on Earth should it be so outlandish that two souls are connected, or destined to connect? It is a universal theme, in literature, music, or whatever artistic medium. How can peoples and cultures across the globe share this as an ideal, if it is nothing more than fantasy? It does not make sense to me that so many would share a fantasy were there no reality to link it to. Love at first sight must be real. Be careful not to kill it with fear.
