gemery: I've noticed that some posts can go on for several pages. Sometimes for days, weeks even years. After all, it is a public forum and everybody has a right to post for as long as they wish on a topic. If people are still posting on a topic, then obviously it is not dead. So maybe your thinking incorrectly.

Yes, crude manner could work...as could derogatory, degrading, crude, rude...I think they would all work equally well. But 'maybe ' in a 'crude manner '? You mean there is a possibility that it was not a crude manner and that it could be acceptable?

I wonder why your trying to rescue him and control the thread by attempting to shut it down. And yes, I can very much imagine that it is wanted to get sunk into oblivion...out of sight, out of mind for certain people.

I am not even sure who you are referring to here.

Anyway, all I can suggest is if the thread does bother you, then don't read it.

geo

No, not trying to rescue anyone, and the only circumstance I can see his original post being anywhere close to acceptable is if it was meant for one person in specific. Don't know if that's the case, but anything is possible, and in no way am I trying to "control" this or any other thread.
It gets tiring reading the same crap every day on the forums where people are bashing each other. Whether it be gender, race, religion or anything else, and one member in specific has done it numerous times and yet she coontinues to make comments about other people doing it, like in this thread. Ask her if she's attempting to "control" or "chase" people off the forums.

The rest was for Hollandgirl, and she knows exactly what I'm talking about. If she wants, she can explain it to you. The apology isn't for me, but a few others on the site.

Okay, I can accept that. I do disagree that it would be close to acceptable though for anybody, even one specific person.

It is possible there is some history here that I am not aware of.

I have to chuckle at the original thread here. Some people just have not lived or live in a fishbowl. Age is an unimportant factor especially given that most "older" people have taken to eating well and exercise programs. Statistics say that we will probably out live the younger generation. We (us so called older people) are looking better than ever. I do not look my age in fact nobody can believe I retire next year. I have had the pleasure of knowing many incrediable ladies who have aged beautifully. They walk with pride because they know how great they feel. BUT with age comes experience and we can communicate about important items, because we care about what is going on and oh yah...we actually read books.
Yep! Give me older lady any time. Brains and beauty...is there anything more?
Hey Cranbrook2 get out in the world and try and educate your mind.

I have been quietly observing some of these forums from the sidelines...this one in particular...I just can not believe that someone could be that ignorant (Cranbrook2) and then not having the nerve to resurface again with something he started in the first place!

In my opinion his post was put on here for nothing more than to be hurtful and unkind. Unfortunately, some persons appear to get their kicks that way, but I think it is just that they a very have a low self esteem. In some strange way, it makes them feel better to bring others down.

I was particularly impressed with the above post and would like to commend Northern for his comments.

I wonder if cranbrook was a troll and just made his post to get others riled up and reply. A negative way to get attention?

At first when I read the post, I felt it was a dig and Hollandgirl. I hope not.

He is entitled to his opinion, but maybe if he used a more mature way of expressing himself, it might have been better.

Not all men feel the way cranbrook does, and if they do, they still respect older women.

Cheers!

That is unfortunate but you have the right to make your own choices.
I find though men usually look older then their age, long before women do.
Though there are the odd ones that do not.
I never did understand why the younger men feel the older women want them.
Most do not mainly because they know they are good for one thing only.
More to a relationship then just that.

handshake To be that ignorant dose not put a feather in you cap.

When you grow up and I don't mean phycially, mentally you would see

the most beautiful love if your lucky to find it is from us older women.

What a shame your not that young either. Please do some homework,

it will do you some good. Aged wine the best in the world.

blushing My dad had me when he was 75 so when you talk of age

make sure you can stand at least at the 1/2 hour mark -- because I

know at your young age you don't. scold
