Rain

In certain places you'd be a welcome sight
But lately here you've shown your might
The intensity of your combined forces
Has created liquid highways an changed coarses

Its been 30 odd years since you were around
A very long time with stable ground
Time allows people to forget
The season's ripe it is the wet

Your might has taken many a life
Caused sorrow deep an much strife
Pain inflicted on everyone
For hands tied could only watch on

I give my heart an soul to those who've lost
Family an friends an immeasureable cost
Nature again has created much pain
By delivering this unrelentless rain

There's one thing i've noticed since those days
Is the capacity of people an their ways
Strangers coming from everywhere
To help out to show they care

So when nature wields its mighty sword
Dont ever think you will be ignored
For the defining moments of human nature
Are its caring qualities of insurmountable stature

Hi, Nuwahri61,
For the defining moments of human nature... It is wonderful when human nature, amidst such great loss, rises above the flood waters to reach out a helping hand to neighbors. Such caring gives one hope for the world.

An excellent poem Nuwahri

The previous two comments say it all really... you captured graphically the desolation of the bereaved and dispossessed.

Best wishes
