Caution to the Wind

It is not beauty of the face nor body
Which I seek...although to be attracted to
a fair gender is not an evil thing
I seek beauty of the soul which is
extremely hard to find...most of us
much older and wiser have doubts
and opinions of an obsessive kind
My faith in fairy tales is not totally devoid
As I hope to someday find true love
that will not be destroyed
Why is it so hard to win a heart today
Perhaps its because most have been
Shattered somewhere along the way
We live our life with armour plate
And caution twenty fold
The caution becomes scar tissue
as we slowly grow old
But is it not possible that two souls
Can still entwine...Perhaps it is the
Child within our hearts that should
be unleashed in kind
As love should never be lost or considered dead
So take a chance, roll the dice, throw caution to the wind
Perhaps love will happen this time my melancholy friend

About this poem:
I think we need to approach love at a much more simple level.
If there is a connection does distance, status, money, and materialism
really matter that much.

The answer to the question is no boyshchrm...material things mean nothing, even your favoured address when the right person wins through, but that scar tissue....does hold you back...

Beautifully expressed! Who knows but what layers of hurt and unfullfilled desires build that wall of mistrust.. thumbs up

thanks Jazzy. We seem to overthink everything these days and I think love should be more impulse or it looses its impact...or we hesitate and the moment is lost.

I actually think the older we get or maybe I should say the more mature we get the more difficult it is to find love. Our expectations and our wants seem to crowd out what could be a connection if just allowed to be. But if I felt that feeling speaking in my soul I would throw all caution wants and expectation to the wind to dance the dance of love again. Nice poem teddybear

Thanks Niah. got a little out of sync here. Yeh I am niave enough to think that true love can overcome any of the other obstacles as long as people can put the relationship first and after all isn't that what we should all automatically do? TY

Hey there Larry,
As you know it is achievable cause it has happened for me!kiss applause But it is not without a price. I made the move..and I miss my friends and daughter very much.crying Please dont ever decide simply with your feelings..you will hurt in the end that way. You really need to weigh it all out, and think if you can really sacrifice all that was dear to you.Feelings come and go, but good sensible decisions will last a lifetime.

Best of luck to you my friend.teddybear wine ..JG..wave

You see Boyshchrm6, Love is basically the same since always, love comes expressed basically the same since always. Nevertheless, i do believe that us, people, love or the will to show it, comes twisted by the new times we are living. It may seem absurd or strange to you what am i going to tell, but my opinion is this:
We are living in times and society guided by urges...not by romance. Lovers will always be rebels from now on. And no rebel has an easy life.
Good work with this poem. I like it !handshake

Boysh....I think there is so much truth in what you say. Unfortunately as you get older and have gone through these experiences you do get more cautious. More cautious to take risks but then again there is also that old adage "that there's no fool like an old fool". Nicely done. cheers

Beautiful poem Larry. I hope we will find true love as portrayed in the fairy tales... I had it once and I long for it again.....

This may serve as a fine profile of yours on this site. I think "caution twenty fold" is the answer to question: "Why is it so hard to win a heart today?" to which you answer yourself in the end by your encouraging words to take a chance and throw caution to the wind. If your "melancholy friend" followed this advice he/she would no longer be so disheartened. Good luck to you! wine bouquet
