Am I beautiful?

Have I gotten the definition wrong?

Its the word I've longed for so long

the make up permanently on

eyes filled with tears as I know I wouldn't be close to beauty without none.


I wish for a kiss

then my prince to grab my face and say

“you're beautiful”

but am I?

I wish for a long night of hot passion

for my prince to pull my arm back as I reach to draw the curtain

and look into my eyes and say

“you're beautiful”

but am I?

With no designer clothing and make up still on but barely holding?


I wish for a hour in his indoor swimming pool

and as steam lingers on the windows

he uses his finger to write

“you're beautiful”

but am I?

With the letters fading, I ask “haven't you got the definition wrong?”
