Evolution

Kindness
In the afternoon
Speaks to my lonely soul
Breadcrumbs in the park
Scattered after dark
Hunger beyond control

Blindness
Floating on the wing
Falling from a high perch
Clutching in my claws
Incoherent of my flaws
Craving all I smirch

Goodness
Searching over me
Coming and going
Never lasting long
Like a bird’s song
Hidden in a tree

Wiseness
Gaining over time
Taking and giving
Spoken words of truth
Even the most uncouth
Hearing the bells chime

Soundness
Challenging my mind
Rising and falling
Testing it for faults
Bending somersaults
Becoming so defined

Greatness
When the time comes
Growing and shrinking
Like cloudy shadows
Coming through windows
Sounds of beating drums
