The Rusted Shovel

I don’t know how long it has been this time
Just leaning against the wall inside the door
You’re always there when I needed you
Through many years we have toiled together
Your handle polished smooth by my sweat
Slowly digging away ….. all the little stones
Watch them crumble and split in half and half again
A whole lifetime now wears pretty thin
I am more gentle with you and you with me

Old faithful friends are the best - been through good times and bad. Who wants shiny new - you have history together.
