CLIMBING UPWARDS

We are not all chosen
To attain the heights;
To gain our cherished hopes.

Some must remain
To struggle on along
Life's slippery slopes;

To fall,
And rise,
And say,
' We'll try again'.

TRAVELLING LIGHT

Travel light, don't let your cares
Become a heavy load.

Travel light, not overburdened
As you walk life's road.

Travel light, take nothing with you
Save a loving friend.

Travel light,enjoy the journey
To the very end.!

A rolling Reverend

To reclaim God under a deep black sky
in these times the heavens may shake
keep one hand on the wheel
the other on the crucifix brother
a rolling Reverend
into the night we drive
sing, sing Hallelujah
to all the earthly creatures
camped under a full moon
O be wise and watchful
the Devil may take his care here
yes he may loiter in these dark lands
but freeze him out my brothers
like the church on a hill
be steadfast and true
and not bent and deceived
yes we go down into the lands
of the downtrodden and repentant
to bring the light
bring the light
bring the light

LIFE....

My life has been a progression, of what I will call
Projects and hobbies, that certainly had a pull
Towards interests, forming routes throughout life
Giving me much pleasure, rather than daily strife

So when you finally focus in maturity, what you enjoy
No longer sharing, with young friends-cousins-girls-boys
One can developed interests, become a loner of sorts
Crafts, dance and writing, just some interests I caught

When did I become a teacher, it happened over time
As a married woman I accepted, travel became a sign
Changes came rapidly, family almost lost, left far behind
One forges a new lifestyle, and a new direction is refined

When we cross the world, we rarely know how it'll end
When new strangers, become our now important friends
I wonder how many people, accept such life changing times
Opening up new horizons, somehow displaced of a kind.

I often wonder what my life would have been, if I stayed
Would I have had so many opportunities, that came my way
Or could it be change, making us venture outside comfort zones
Giving unexpected adventures, when accepting a new husband/wife...
Together to roam .......

Weaver Of Words

Wordsmith and poets, weave-sew
Phrases-words, kneaded like dough
Mixed together, eased into verse
Poetry-descriptive, kind not a curse

Lyrics of songs, can't control fate
Lighthearted banter, can act as bait
Strung together, a storyline unfolds
Whatever the subject, gentle or bold

Words lead to a journey, possible delight
Encouraging followers, with hidden insights
As a patchwork quilt, tells those who know
Where fabric came from, the dressmaker sews

Memories, reminders from a former time of life
Gift giving pleasure, brings happiness not strife
Poets can tell a story, as song lyrics can weave
Dreams of hope and pleasure, joy another receives

So smile when you read, or sing a song for pleasure
Maybe it holds special words, you can treasure
From back in time, unlocking memories past
Triggering the mind, so special thoughts last

Written words so special, to memorize over time.
Woven by the wordsmith, to retain in the mind
Released into a moments, unlocking-images-signs
Yet all they really are, words strung to form a line.

POSITIVITY #C

There's reason some writes touch on things dark
life doesn't equate to 'walk in the park'
Feeling our existence resembles a 'gift' insanity
exclusion of fairness a spiteful injustice to humanity

I feel pain enveloping those who suffer undeserving
societies indigents being treated as irrelevant unnerving
This despicable world mentally beats us down
some hover just above water rather than drown

Most disheartening knowing futures destined for worse
mans insatiable appetite for destruction they can't reverse
Majority believe in their gods others some devil
evils alive "god" quiet on every level

Arduous writing about 'positivity' when so little of it
that could reverse if laws had true grit
Again not a pessimist slowly turned into one
grateful if 'one' benefitted from write I done

UNDISPUTED CHAMPION

Let's put whose GOAT to rest
doing it all better defines best
Smartest and clutchest the just buzz
if anyone depicts 'greatest' he does

Founder of Fifty Forty Ninety club
'basketball genius' not just random hubbub
Others played checkers he played chess
other former 'greats' did personally confess

"Basketball Jesus" not show-boater in 'Air'
career Twenty-four Ten Six NON share
Laughable is "he wasn't that athletic"
total domination of league wasn't synthetic

"Couldn't jump and way too slow"
further proving he's NBA's #1 show
Jumped just enough to outrebound you
speed obviously more than adequate too

Haters choose rebuke over 'just' due
not being 'best' arduous to chew
Blatant racist only disgrace civil society
loss of 'Republic' inevitable from variety

"To the Greatest basketball player ever
but more important a friend forever"
Opinions on GOAT are simply that
with 'Magic' is where I'm at

GOAT FINAL WORD

The Quotes Garden – Poems in two verses - [ III ] - Believe –

The Quotes Garden
*** Part III – Poetic lines in two verses ***
*** Believe – ***

***
“Believe –
True stories weave;
***
Spindle twist,
Beneath thy sleeve; -
***
Quill and ink, -
Epitaphs cleave;
***
Ticking heart,
Pulsing my wrist -
***
Shall I sink,
Silent, to grieve?..
***
Believe, –
Dreams come true!..
***
While me and you,
Within a heave -
***
Two stars blink,
- Adam and Eve;
***
Shadows kissed
- All we have missed…”

The Quotes Garden – Poems in two verses - [ II ] - Hurray!..

The Quotes Garden
*** Part III – Poetic lines in two verses ***
*** Hurray!.. ***

***
“Hurray, hurray! –
Sun, bless this day!..
***
Middle of may,
Burnt shadows, fray; -
***
Sweet cherries, sway, -
Tiny girls, play;
***
Hurray, hurray,
Glimpse of a ray!.. -
***
Along the brae,
Shy willows, pray;
***
Sweet dolls of hay, –
Flowers of bay!..
***
All sing, to stay!
Where shall I lay?.. -
***
Bees, in a spray,
- Humming my way:
***
Hurray, hurray!..
- Leaving away…”

The Quotes Garden – Part III - Two verse poems - [ I ] - O, nightingale!..

The Quotes Garden
*** Part III – Poetic lines in two verses ***
*** O, nightingale!.. ***

***
“O, nightingale, –
Merciful beak!..
***
A fairytale,
Where shall I seek?!..
***
Thy voice, so meek, -
My silence’ ,peak;
***
When rising gale,
Follow thine trail, -
***
Wither, or pale,
Lifting the veil;
***
Leaves, on the scale, –
My heart?! A tick!..
***
O, nightingale!
Thy art so frail, -
***
Bless me, to speak!
- Wisest, the snail!..
***
Thy chest, a jail,
- My love, a squeak!..”
***

Someday

Today is like any other some say,
But nothing comes easy hard is the way.

Someday I’ll make something good of myself.
Someday I’ll be famous and have so much wealth.
Someday I’ll save up and get me that thing.
Someday I’ll succeed and live out my dream.
Someday I’ll have and won’t know what to do with.
Someday I’ll marry her I swear I’m gon’ do it.
Someday day I’ll quit for real, for good.
Someday I’ll get fit and lower my blood.
Someday I’m certain, you get the gist.
One day I’ll get sick of living like this,

But someday can wait for a season because,
I know it will come I just put it on pause.
I know what I said before but I meant,
Some other day when time is well spent.

Today I will act like a coward and so,
Today I’m afraid that my shadow might grow.
Today I just need more rest, more sleep.
Today it’s bad weather and snow covered streets.
Today it’s still early it’s only begun,
Today it’s too late and the evening has come.
Today I am willing to settle for less,
Today I can’t give it my all or my best.
Today is just Monday of course there’s still time,
Sunday’s a day of rest, I must get mine.

Today there are so many reasons why,
you will not decide, you don’t feel alive.
How long has it been? Maybe it was five,
Or more years ago when it first was a lie.

Was it New Year’s Day or the date of your birth?
Precious that day, but what was it worth?
Plans, a bright future can be delayed,
But Someday, that day for you is today!
