posthumous life

I think I'll die before I live
from time to time, I suppose
life seems more take than give
a cynical opinion sometimes shows

Michael, Gabriel or Azrael may
come to bring me my pink slip
and leave my future in disarray
ticket punched for the return trip

yet if I can get the jump on it
go ahead and postulate anyhow
a posthumous life might better befit
than what I've got here right now

today's stance an intractable position
a life well lived, for argument's sake
could depart now of my own volition
and leave some witticism at my wake

then folks who knew me, not one iota
could say "just seemed to be so content"
"though lately colder than North Dakota"
"To hell is what I think was meant"

and maybe I'll live on in my words
to make life both meaningful and bold
'stead of day's living for the birds
a posthumous life a thing to behold

'course I might need to think again
considering all the prose and cons
my best thinkin' might be just insane
afterlife might be a big come on.

maybe it's not any better than this
my Shangri-La might be right here
too hard to look back and reminisce
if I just posthumously disappear

"I THANK HIM"

I thank the Lord every day
When I open my eyes
I know He is responsible
For the land and sea and skies

I thank Him for another day
To be lived here on earth
I thank Him for allowing me
To live well past my birth

I thank Him for the open fields
And meadows filled with flowers
I know it's all His doing
For He has the ultimate power

I thank Him for the beauty
That surrounds me every day
For I know if He wanted to
He could take it all away

I thank Him for a star filled sky
With a harvest moon so bright
For I know He's the only one
Who could have gotten it all so right

But most of all I thank Him
For all life has given me
For I know deep in my heart
Without Him I wouldn't be.

Progressive Thinking

Here I am all by myself
No one to bother me
Yet I am searching for an opinion
It is all good
I find my self watching football in the evening
I also watch Dave Letterman at night
It is all entertaining
However there are places in my brain
That are missing something in sane
However I go on
It is all good
The jets and the sharks
Carmen the opera is a good thing
Ironman the movie is entertaining
CFL football on tv is also good
I love my siblings
Although we do not see each other
At 54 years of age I still have my parents
Gods gift to my loneliness I guess
However I am independent and looking
For way to improve my negativity
I ask God for his grace
Sometimes I think He is on holidays
However I am progressive and thankful
It is all good
It is an act of contrition
Thank you God for all of your help
I may not notice it at times
But I have been blessed
With progressive thinking
Positive thinking over negative thinking
It is all good
It is all progressive

About this poem:
Sometime it can be mind over matter
Although depressed I can program my brain to think positive
And that is the way
and that is the way
Peace and love to all

Life....

Life goes on even we were hurted and lied
But memories remain in our souland the pain
Also remains.
But we must get up again and go on the life
And learn from mistakes.

The Sanctity Of Love

Loving another – for what will be sacrificed...?
Enabled to lay our life above-their-own...?
Casting aside our dreams and ambitions for the sake of theirs...?
A planned future - separate or unified...?

It is not 'love at first sight' – truly 'love defined through time'
Love blossoms-not without time and patience...
Healing hands soothe hearts of discontent
Understanding of the needs within shall grant 'love unsurpassed'

Compassion, trust, confidence, admiration – in quality or quantity...?
The paths that lead forward not carry backwards
The offering of a pillow-of-comfort during a time-of-grief
Through the courage of strength and the belief in one another... does love's true form appear...?

A journey-of-love... a 'walk of faith'...?
An overnight obsession or a thought-less passion...?
Our minds lie in this emotional abyss of misconceptions and misdeeds
Gifting our hearts with the 'sanctity of love'

SIMPLE THINGS

we should dance below the full moon
softly humming a 30's tune
feel dewy grass between our toes
wish upon stars for our friends and foes
take time to smell the flowers
forget days don't have enough hours
open our windows breathe in the air
walk in the raindrops without a care
kiss the one you love with meaning
embrace yellow sun rays beaming
write music put your soul into words
close your eyes listen for chirping birds
play in the leaves hide behind trees
remember those gone are with you in the breeze
happiness comes with simple things
not money, not cars, not diamond rings

About this poem:
its all about the simple things in life...we take them for granted too much too often:( i dont think its our fault, we just get caught up in the craziness of it all.

Spirit Guide

I am there in the dark of the peace of the night
I am part of the dawn's soft hush
I am part of the light of the daybreak sky
As I sigh at the rush hour rush
I dance in the dust of the morning light
I rest in the dark of the deepening night
I am there in the warmth of the nigh high sky
And I sit on a cloud when the heaven does cry
I am a beam of the sun on a dazzling day
Healing the Earth, showing you the way
I am there in the thunder when the skies are torn
I am a flake of snow when the winter is born
I am part of the wind sweeping the plain
I am there in a drop of the tingling rain
I am always with you.

About this poem:
For Michael, my main guide.
I know it is repetitive and rhymes but they are fun to write in this way and are best read from the heart, not the intellect.

Once Upon a Star

As my mind floats amid the stars,
where Old Man Time wanders throughout eternity.
It was somehow different this once.
*
I beheld the dark of night as her cotton soft
touch eased Isolation's trembling fear.
*
Voice of Direction lay muted, mouths of North,
South, East nor West could not speak of
Journeys Way.
*
My heart danced in the tones of her voice,
as her baby sweet smile whispered away
Solitude's sadness.
*
Here we roamed together into Mystery's Hall,
where only we could be.
No others have preceeded before,
sacred to us amidst the sky of shimmering lights.
*
Her eyes glistened of brilliance
in the sparkling moon,
as their rose blossomed beauty
melted away frozen
tears of rejection.
*
It is here, we are one with Heavens breath,
Our sea amongst the stars,
this place, created by,
and existant soley for us,
forever.
*
A distant lonely star softly flickers,
set aside for rememberence of this time and place,
where I thought I felt her say,
"Yes..I feel it too."
*
I quietly weep to that Star
where Heavens Breath fills lonely seas with passion,
where two voices drift aimlessly,
joined in silence by the beat of Love's timeless heart.
*
As my mind floats amid the stars,
where Old Man Time wanders throughout Eternity,
it was somehow different this once,
in my dreams...

Once upon a Star.

Where is the man in me?

I do not drink, nor do i smoke. Where is the man in me? Severed is the link, with me and coke. Where is the man in me? I do not gamble, i avoid the track. Where is the man in me? That makes for shambles, and that's a fact. Where is the man in me? My garage is empty, don't own a sports car. Where is the man in me? Though legs are weiry, they carry me far. Where is the man in me? A brawl or fight; i do not crave. Where is the man in me? I saw the light, yes, i was saved. Can you see the man in me?
