uptown girl

you and me
in a little car shop
buying dreams
with the money we got
but dreams are free
at the break of dawn
one by one
we let them go

ninety nine cents
ain't a dollar
your daddy's rich
and I'm blue collar
floating down
the highway high
ninety nine
red saloons go by

ninety nine bucks
in my pants
limits us
and our romance
you wonder why
I even try
as ninety nine
red saloons go by

ninety nine
is a soft ice cream
I watch you eat it
like a queen
and we sleep beneath
the blanket sky
as ninety nine
red saloons go by

black the haze
in a mug, soft chair
we wonder if there's
something out there
"you're so cool"
you'd sweetly lie
as ninety nine
red saloons go by

stepping stones
your every word
your beauty
made me look absurd
you lit a fire
beneath the sky
as ninety nine
red saloons go by

bivouaced in blonde
you dream
a smile that silenced
every scream
cantankerous,
I said goodbye
as ninety nine
red saloons go by

yet every now
and every then
I pay my bills
and still have ten
you smile
as on my skin you lie
as ninety nine
red saloons go by

all our dreams
are in assembly
in the valley
of our memory
another girl.. another try
as ninety nine
red saloons go by

Last Day of Black History Month

I started my day of celebrating black history month by listening to Sam Kinison
On his Live From Hell CD he talks about how rap sucks
In it he mentions 2 Live Crew's album As Nasty As They Wanna Be
The songs are offensive
I sang to Bobby Brown's No Humpin Around in my car
I also sang to Michael and Janet Jackson's song Scream
The movies I saw were Lean On Me, 187
Both movies about teaching, the first had a good ending, the other didn't
Higher Learning was another movie about teaching with a bad ending
I think of my old neighbors from my childhood, the only black people in town
I think of Anthony Ferrill, a black man who was racially harassed at work
He shot five people dead, including himself
He had a good job as an electrician for 20 years there
My hero Bill Cosby was Fat Albert and on Captain Kangaroo when I was little
Michael Jackson wowed me with his moon walk and his Thriller Album
Sammy Sosa played for the Cubs and the Orioles and had a cool gesture
Reggie White was the most popular defensive player for the Packers
Oprah brought me Dr. Phil who I still watch five times a week
Dave Chapelle has been making me laugh since 2003
I even liked Barack Obama till 2013, I still have my tshirt from 2008
Martin Luther King and Malcolm X were hope masters for us
I am thankful for them all as they have deeply enriched my life

Hope springs eternaly!

So, you try and be, what the world wants to see?
Lost in the fantasy,

When the world doesn't want you, what will you
do, find the real you?

I hope it's not to late, I hope it's not your fate
I hope you have time, to recreate!

angel

Into the bowl the angels went
Mixed and mixed
Till they gained
A heavenlly

Sent
Wings where added
A hello
Too white robes
To look the part

A name they all wanted
Magic and sparkle
Or gabriel two
Upto heaven

They all went
Fresh new recruits a course they attended
To learn to be a angel
To fly to play the trumpet too

Too earth they asend
Their work to do
To be an angel looking
After me and you

hold on..........

my heart goes out
for how you feel
nature's force
now does reveal
too close to home
too close to heart
too far away
for you to start
but your bloodlines
they are strong
and when things happen
or go wrong
you band together
and merge as one
from all parts
to get things done
united in spirit
also in voice
raising awareness
that is your choice
to lend a hand
and help your clan
those in need
with no demand......

Walk Beside Me

Walk beside me
Written by Paula O’Sullivan

I do not wish to own you,
I want to tell you that I care,
I want you to know
that if you’re in darkness,
just reach out your hand,
you’ll find mine there.

I do not seek to
change your mind,
or make you more like me,
I just wish to show you,
there’s another side
of this world
that we can see.

We are really only
moments of awareness
apart,
so I’d like to share
what’s in my heart.

Come walk beside me
on the path of life awhile,
I’ll show you many
reasons to smile.

There is a different
world out there,
one that we can
all share,
it’s free from shadows,
fear and pain,
you’ll never view
your life
the same again.

Come walk with me
let’s discuss,
all the similarities
that are
between us.

We are the same
under the stars
moon and sun,
we all live
and breathe
we all are one.

When we learn to love one another
we will walk together,
heart to heart,
like sister and brother.

So come with me,
learn to love,
give grateful thanks,
for all you have,
see the world
the way I do,
there’s plenty of love,
for me and you.

We want..

We want many things in this life
Love,power ,money and fame
And we want them faster
And we want all.
But we forget to ask
One thing ad maybe
The most important one.
To be a healthy person.
What sense has to have all
If u are sick and can't enjoy by all.
Better to be healthy and
Little from each one
Instead be sick and
Enjoy nothing from all.

T-minus

life flight, plastered to our seats then float
oh...oh...the beauty of it all, take some notes
can I express what it now means...adequately
or will solemn words only ring hollow to you

just beyond the apex on the slightest curve down
he sees her looking back across the arc afore
when engines thrust fired hot, and so did love
and reentry was a thing to come...ahead

blackout is coming a few minutes down range
remember when we looked through life's portal
and saw all the earth before us, spinning days
to nights and back, all framed in India ink black

hardened and hot the free fall begins quickening
to the inevitable touchdown of life's recovery
Challenges and Discoveries were met and passed
to another time, reverently remembered

the roaring music now faintly smolders
a million million billion points in mind
all are here, but I can't hear you anymore
blinding...blinding...fade to white

Stand Strong

Every single step I take
Pushes me till I nearly break
Only one thing left to do
Believe that my heart is true

Falling down happens in life
That's all part of the strife
A battle within must be waged
Like a fine wine as it is aged

Learning is the key to struggle
A fall soon becomes a fumble
Pick it up and keep on walking
Not enough to just keep talking

Words are words, spoken aloud
They are muffled when in a crowd
So shine bright with actions bold
That shows a truer story to be told

Do what needs to be done for the moment
Have no regrets, no need for atonement
For if it comes from the heart, it is right
Let your essence shine ever more bright

Don't look back, not for one second
The road lies ahead, you are beckoned
Grasp the invitation with your hand
For now is the time to make your stand

Poets (Jade Challenge)

Embedded image from another site

Poets personally
Post phenomenal poems
Picturing painted pictures
Penning prose perfectly
Profoundly pretty
Piercingly patterned
Poetically portrayed
Pondering philosophies
Pouncing playfully
Purporting purposefully
Perceptually poignant
Providing passions
Perfumed peripheries
Penetrating powerfully
Pulling passively
Poets possess panache
Peace patient poets
Pen plentifully
