Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

A Tear

A Tear!

Tis naught but a tear

But yet, tis a wetness one cannot forget

It starts it’s journey deep within one’s heart

A journey from birth to death

A tear of joy when baby’s start

A different one for when love one’s depart

A cry of anger as life goes bye

Of war and death and there goes I

Of tenderness, love and walled up grief

A wetness that tears down one’s stony cheek

A tear that cannot be contained

Emotions when the heart is strained

A flood that tends to overflow

Of sadness that all of us can know

Children were told grown men don’t cry

Oh! How could someone to them, so lie!

For Men and women have emotions too

Sometimes a cry is good for you

Of joy, love, sadness, loneliness, and grief

Of departing lover’s who left you as a heart stealing thief

Cascades of tears walled up behind your eyes

If let loose would flood the stars

Tis naught but a tear and yet

It travels with us through life so we cannot forget!

If I had one wish to give to you

It would be for
a tear of happiness your whole life through!

Twelve candles all in a row

Twelve candles all in a row
One candle in my hand
I light the candle in my hand
With the one candle I light the twelve
One for the ones who have passed on
One for the ones still here
One for the sick
One for the homeless
One for the lonely
One for the children
And six to eternally light their way
Twelve candles all in a row burning eternally
One in my hand burning for one and all

Shining Star

Looking back at what I had,
maybe I'm just going mad.
The voices they could all be lying,
gives the reason to stop the crying.
Could take a while for me to sleep,
my mind, my thoughts they go to deep.

Times will lose & times will win,
but tonight again I'l be staying in.
Raise the glass get slowly drunk,
whatever baby call me a punk.
In the morn, it will be my day,
I still have a hand left to play.
It could be warm, it could be cold,
there is still a story to be told.

I called the shots, I made the bed,
I will take the crap with all things said.
Chase the money, chase the fame,
show me the rules of such a game.
Shiver and tremble, or straight as a dime,
it doesn't matter in the sense of time.
I'm making you happy, I'm taking you out,
take it or leave it, this is my shout.

Stop the worry, stop the moaning,
believe this offer that I'm loaning.
The broken heart, it learns the skill,
that will beat and better a magic pill.
I see the light, I see the love,
Its time to release that little white dove.
Hold my hand and will take you,
into a life where all things are true.

When it all, crumbles and dies,
where do we collect the prize.
No matter who, or what we are,
we all see the same shining star.

"pyrrhic victories"

Twenty twenty in hindsight
Overrated perhaps
Was the means that day
Did what I did hastily.

Into a recessed corner stood I
Feared decision made
Momentary gain
With shadowed pain of sacrificial loss.

Imagine the dice in a toss,
Induced regrettable cost
Often to win
You've lost!

Shangri-La

Like beautiful yet unkempt hair, weed flows gracefully at the bottom of the woodland stream,
Sticklebacks play tag between the strands, ten or twelve to a team,
The weeping willow does anything but, as it sighs without a care,
Tousling it’s own green mane, from here to over there,
A woodland breeze springs up,
Bending the bluebells slightly, emptying a buttercup,
Playing the leaves like an infinitely stringed lire,
When day turns to dark, we find our way lit by St. Elmo’s fire,
While the man in the moon looks down,
Smiling without a frown,
Reflecting quite happily.

STUCK FOREVER

He tore through the forest
looking for someone
something to claim.
He found what he was
looking for.
He clawed at them as
if he was an animal.
Yet in the end he
could not transpose
for he was caught in
this act forever and
a day he would stay.
He had thought he had
saved them you see but
only made them claw
more at human anatomy.

The Journey

I have written the poet said
Of things past and present
My memories, my thoughts
My feelings there described in

My heart I wear upon my sleeve
With all that I am writing
Please Lord guide my hand
When I put pen to paper

The journey long has just begun
Though two score years and thirteen
The journey's end is not in sight
Somehow that does not matter

On this road I travel on
Many I have met there
All have left some of themselves
To influence my perception

Many there were rushing on
To reach their destination
Never knowing all the while
The journey is all that matters

Oceanzest

Nietzsche on the beach

the breeze from the ocean
paused in sequence
with his entrance
the immaculate beachwear
gold rimmed Polaroid filtered
temple of a man
who had accomplished
the two women act
both now sizzling
in his undertow
energized by
Dionysian impulse
for the ultra man

He toasted me from the distance
"to the cause my friend" he nodded
"to liberty from your slave morality"
and with the whitest smile
he raised the glass
and returned to his entourage
