Happy Birthday Prince Charles

There will be many celebrating today
for it is Prince Charles special day

Champagne glasses brimming to the rim
one thing certain eyes will start to dim

Banquets and feasts a plenty
dishes price set at twenty

All the nobles of the land
on bended knees in the sand

Royalists world over raise a glass
those against royalty take a pass

What ever your stance
have a swirl in dance

For me I say have a great day
and at the end maybe even a lay

unsung heroes

Your future hangs
on a seamless lines of hopes
to make up for the torrid
love affair of morning and night
of a dream that seems to dwell
on all your sorrows
on a life you wish you had
up until now.

Your child that has yet to be born
on a future of uncertainties
you built your strength
on their hopes that their years
will count for generations
unlike you..
it has to end right here
among the shadows of
torment and hopelessness
in a foreign land
where you haven't even have a clue
on how they spell, write and say
"i love you".

But you knew, as you were
facing the front lines
of whose sides you would stand on
their truth or yours, like
it makes a difference
knowing it will be right...
this war that divides
whose supposed to have
the truth of who's wrong and who
is more deserving to be right,
but...

Did you know?
those whose lives, ransomed
for freedom to make you a hero?
felt the same sentiments and hopes?
the same aspirations and ambitions?
same pains and sorrows
and like all of us,
they, too, have a heart,
have a soul that is pierced
by the bullet of hatred
we sustained believing
that their death is our
prize for freedom.

Is it?

A soldiers body

Darling your head is held low darling your chin touches your chest
Honey this head was once held high, a helmet upon it I thought I could reach the sky
Darling your eyes seem cold and distant darling those eyes I've never know
Honey these eyes have seen battle honey these eyes have seen many men die
Darling your ears why must you shield them. You cover them most of the time
Honey these ears have heard the screams no man should give honey ears they remember what it was like at the front of the line
Darling your mouth it's thin and it quivers, darling you you wake up screaming at night
Honey I know what the truth is but I must keep it inside. Honey I wake shouting for my men to retreat, to back away from the land mines
Darling your back it stoops over darling your shoulders sag
Honey my back carried many men from both side darling these shoulder carry the guilt of a war
Darling your hands they shake and tremble, why do you hide and wipe your palms
Honey these hands have a rifle. Honey these hands have killed. I try to hide what only I can see, the blood that stains these palms
Darling your feet you stumble and you shuffle, I've never a man walk so
Honey these feet have been to battle, stood beside my men with pride. Honey these feet carried me away from death.
Darling your soul seems weak and weary, darling your soul seems so old
Honey I have been to battle, honey I was in a war. All of the truth was not as I knew it. I carry a battle I'll never forget. Honey I am so lost.
Darling why not put it behind you? You have every right to move on.
Honey I can't put this behind me. It has become part of my soul. I wish I could remember what this body did that was any good
Darling your head is good with plans to get men home safe. Darling your eyes see what's around you keeping many alive. Darling those ears have heard laughter from your men in the foxhole. Darling your mouth holds a strong voice. one that sings your a grand old flag. Darling your back had carried unknown children who wanted to play. Darling your hands remained steady when you salute your flag. Darling your feet were sure and steady when you met your men for the first time. Darling your soul will never forget but you have to let go. Darling your here and that is what matters. You brought many back that should not be alive. You have known war and been to battle but you cannot live in the past. So raise your chin, hold your head high. Salute the flag. Remember the reason why you went to war and why our flag flies.

Frown and they will pass you by
Say hallo and a hi and smile goes a long way
Be miserable they don't want to know

Alone you will be
Not a sole will want you
Cry and cry alone you will be
Sad and depressed

Your days long and dark
Sadness you dwell upoun
Emptieness
In a rut you become

Dependant on depresants you becum
So briten your day do not dwell
Get out of bed

Yankee's "40 words" challenge...

Fast that you may know
how hunger transforms you
Sleep on pavements, experience
no roof nor for your butt a soft bed
Turn off taps, shower not!
Feel what's like having
no water to drink or wash!
Maybe you'll understand!

About this poem:
I have no idea if this will cut it Yankee but I'm fuelled still by what's happening in my home country. To show respect to the victims I've not posted anything on social media except sharing posts about what's going on...and what people and places are doing, big or small, to help...or at least understands the plight of the victims. I am disheartened that a lot of my own people are rampant in posting "look at me I'm beautiful" or "look at my stuff" kind of photos. I wrote a poem to express my dismay.. from which I extracted the 40 words I have submitted for your challenge.. Thanks for the opportunity...

FLAUNT NOT

When calamity strikes...
life ain't gonna stop
and us, the unaffected
as usual, carry on,
drop a coin,
with life, move on

My only wish, to consider
for a moment, let's stop!
feel their pain, their grief
respect how they're suffering
the departed and survivors
both victims!...

On social media pages
give a bit of space
a chance for the world
to hear, feel, digest
respect for the unfortunate
deal with the aftermath
of this haunting catastrophe

wear their shoes...will you?
Fast that you may know
how it feels like
tummy grumbling
for having none to eat
Even just a day,
will help you understand
what they're going through

sleep on your floor or
better on your lawn
that you may experience
no roof over your head
or a soft bed for your butt
Even a few hours will help
you understand
what they're going through

Turn off your tap
And shower not!
That you may feel
what's like
to have no water
to drink or wash!
Even just a day will leave
your throats all dried up!

just for a wee moment
would be nice, not to flaunt!
expensive cars, branded items
made up faces, sexy dresses
awesome holidays and cruises
tone down the brightness of
your gems, stones, jewelries!

Nor do they want to see or watch
what sumptous dinner you got tonight
or your gourmet cup of coffee, tea
from the posh cafe you so love
That killer slice of
dark chocolate mudcake or white
Just keep that out of sight
just for a very short wee while!

Take your snap shots
just the same
All I'm asking...will you hold
for the right moment
before you plaster, post them!
On your colourful,
popular social media wall!

let's hold hands and give
the thousands of victims
a chance to be seen,
a moment to be heard
opportunity to be aided
right to be acknowledged!
and may be a tad relieved?

We all expect countries,
organisations to give
to help, to rebuild
But how soon we forget
Giving starts from within
right here, right now, their plight
by simply respecting!

For a moment let's not be selfish,
Can we help others have a grasp;
FLAUNT NOT yours but theirs
Victims' faces and ordeals
Words that empowers, inspires!
And your Acts of random kindness!

Hero..... a haiku

Stemming the tide of
evil he walks in glory
and honor follows.

senseless world

Bloodied pool of life
Nourished by forces of evil
In a senseless world
Where remorse is stacked
In a pile of dead emotions.

We are facing a war
Far deadlier than the brutalities
And mutilation
Guns and missiles can cause
It is our lack of strenght
To stand against such strangulation.

This is the indifference of the soul
The mind's submission to defeat
The heart blocked by the pains
Of desertions and abandonment
Hanging on our shoulders,
Dead cold and retreat.

There is a hope, a big one,
It can begin now!
Get up and unite, carry your courage
Join the many and seek more to make an impact
With determination and commitment
Step up in the front line and join hands.

We can do it. Senseless world no more
No one will do it for us. Are you kidding me?
The wealthy will buy our silence. Fast.
The cost? Your freedom. Yours and mine
So either you grab the money and run-

Or all of us, the poor and the lowly
Be united, be forceful, committed
For the clean up, our world badly needs.

Before it's too late.

banksy

Who's this banksy
Who draws on walls
His pictures he creates
Statements his drawings

Create
He make you think
A story he tell
His political view
His picture tells

A polition he is not
An artist he is
He creates his picture
To create conversation
Talk and statements
his views

A Rifle is not just for Christmas

Private Gant looks at his watch,
And makes a quick calculation.
He reckons his little son Mason
Will soon be up,and running down to the tree
To open his presents, from Santie.
Yeah,he sighs, its another year, that he wont be around to share
In all the joy,and the festive fair.
He shakes his head, and adjusts the rifle on his shoulder
As he ponders the life of a serving soldier...
Stuck in some God forsaken land
In which rival factions fight for command
Caught in the middle
Dodging the bombs and the missiles
Both peacekeeper and referee
In a war you don't understand
And for what?
And for whom?
Nobody cares,
Nobody gives a damn.
Right now, he feels its all a sham...
Theyre just pawns on this political chessboard
And right now,Gant doesn't want to play anymore
God,he so wanted to be home this Christmas
With his little boy and Mrs
But due to tensions,
That might need military interventions
No leave was permitted.

As he patrols the perimeter fence
He looks across no mans land
All looking peaceful now
With Christmas at hand.
And for a moment his mind goes back...
To the Christmases of old
When he was a child,
His life just beginning to unfold
And how all he ever wanted as a present
Was a rifle,like his Daddys...
And one that could shoot corks
Would be just right for a little soldier laddie.
He thinks of the old man now,
And how he had never really got to know him
Before he was cut down in a distant land
And its only now lately he has begun to realise...
To analyse...
The senseless waste,the terrible loss...
More cannon fodder for the political bosses
In yet another sham,
And boy,did he miss that man.
But he also remembers how he couldn't wait to enlist
At seventeen, and carry on the battle too...
Guess at the time,it was all he knew.
Gant grins to himself,
As he unslings his weapon and checks the magazine
With an ironic expression
Well Happy Christmas man,..He jeers
I guess you've got your present for this year.

He knew little Mason had wanted
Something similar this time
He remembered him mentioning
An AK47 or an M16 carbine.
But this year there would be no toy guns
For his son.
He wanted to set Mason on a different path
And not the death or glory one that
His father had planted in him
As a young boy.
Oh no...it was time to break with that family tradition
Of seek and destroy.

Nearing the end of the peremeter
He thinks of his wife Yvette
As he reaches into his tunic for a cigarette
He knows it is against orders, but
He is in no mood to worry about that tonight
Of all nights.
Yes, he remembers how they had discussed
The future when his term of service ends
In the New Year.
Man,he thought,he would sure make it up to that woman
For all the times he hadnt been near
Gant strikes a match and as he lights up
He looks to the sky and curses
More God damned rain
As the sniper takes careful aim.
