In this life we live
We must learn to give
We must be selfless
Practice it till it becomes effortless
It takes some effort on our part
We wouldn't make it if we never start
Sometimes we must give in
No, it's not about who's gonna win
Or who committed the mortal sin
It's about growing up
In life, learning will never stop
We must learn from life's experiences you see
Because it's inherent to our maturity

That old dead grass is burning
Along the hillock's gully
With all those rocky outcrops
Its smoke lifts up and o’er the fields
The earth still damp and flattened
Clumped from winter's burden
And a vanished blanket of snow
Now exposed and thickly matted
Freeze dried and turned brown
Soon to be fringed with black ashes
Dozens of these trailing plumes
Rising up and down the valley
One by one as I watch 'em burn
Their smells now watering my eyes
Now making my clothes smell
A controlled burn billowing smoke
Fanned by such gentle breezes
Blowing on this first day of spring
Slowing waiting now to turn green

Special emotions, we hide
Stirring feelings, use as guide
Aroused by event, music or place
Accepting emotions, with grace
Times in life, we take control
Necessary, to remain whole
A little voice, speaks too
Reflections, see us through
To ourselves be true
Knowing, and seeing it through
Priority for us, a must
Accepting, with respect-trust
What for us, feels right
To look forward, into light
Not dragged down, by grey
Moving on, to a brighter day

THE BROOK THAT BABBLES
Slivers of sunlight flit through the trees
Orchestral manoeuvres, shadows of leaves waltz in the light
Willows, ferns and lilies majestically bow and pay homage
All stand in awe of the Creator of the brook that babbles
Frolicking, giggling, winding, crystal clear waters run gleefully like children
Gliding over smooth boulders and stone, shaped through patience and time
Dispersing currents divide, swirling in crevices, playing hide and seek
Cold, fresh water spills over my naked feet and I cannot help but smile
Protective branches, a mother’s embrace, overshadow this giver of life
Yet she outruns these rooted giants, congregating later in sun reflected pools
Rocks of ages stand sentry both along and inside this brook that babbles
Multi coloured silhouettes uniquely fingerprinted, textured and sized
And our Creator said … “It is good” and mankind smiled heavenward
Nothing man-made can ever compare to God’s perfect beauty in nature
I stand humming in this rivulet, birds flutter and sing in the trees
A gracefully spun spider’s web glistens with dew drops
And I am grateful for this remarkable brook that babbles

About this poem:
This brook and its natural surroundings are a welcome respite most city folk desperately seek these stressful days. We often forget that it is the simple things in life that afford us the greatest rest and pleasure.

In a seemingly crazy world ,may we not necessarily forget but strive to overcome our yesteryears
Move on in unity and peace with love for our fellow human beings instead of being crippled by hatred and fear
On this our borrowed land that’s been stained by innocent shed blood and drenched from grieving wept tears
Move forward together, irrespective of when or where one came, what was brought or sought
Some may abuse generiousity but in a world of such inequality, injustice, how can we just look the other way, bury our heads in the sand
For who does it all really belong to anyway, why not offer a helping hand ?
Who gave a Robin his song to be sung and who can say where he was born is where he shall only belong ?
And, whos place is it to declare, to shout, or say who is really right, or who is wrong ?
Who shall throw the first stone, if the truth be known who is right to cast any blame ?
Who really deserves to be clothed in robes made from shame ?
We’ve had too many wars where the heavy burden of evil came to rest upon the shoulders of young soldiers
Who believed and declared that peace was the food they fought for, I wonder how it tasted
when so many gifted lives around them were cut down in their prime so tragically wasted ?
Where did the melting pot go, does anyone know ?
Does it, or should it matter who is right or wrong ?
Or, from which religious organization you may, or may not belong
Who said we must humiliate, segregate, isolate, kill, destroy
someone else’s prescious, beloved girl or boy.
We cannot change the past only try to change the future, have hope and a purpose for which to aim
So let us all rise up against such evil, stop playing this destructive blaming, shaming game.
Stand up and be counted, claim victory, wear a crown of great pride and dignity again
Let’s not waste time trying to propagate, exterminate but instead try protect the children of the future, try embrace
And do so now, today, before all of tommorows promises expire, vanish, gone without a trace !

There's a hollowness inside of me
Bigger than I can be
It's searching for nourishment
To set myself free
It seeks the billowing sails
Of a yacht on an angry sea
Lunging into the voids
Of a unknown quantity
Or maybe galloping across the desert
On a steed black and fine
Searching for that lost city
Or an oasis full of wine
Climbing rock faces
Without rope or sane in hand
Then diving off them into pools
As deep as they command
Snowboarding down the mountains
Racing Avalanche and will
Mustering tenacity
To get what needs to fill ...........

Thunder and Lightning … Bang Bang
Your words sharper than a two-edged sword
Slice with precision and Ricochet around the sunlit room
Piercing my beating heart with each word
Whiplashing all sense of reasoning out of my brain
Trust and respect retrace their steps, slink away
Exploding memories crystallise into a million unimaginable colours
I turn to run and yet too stunned … I stay
Once unbridled joy now just an after thought
Flesh, blood, sweat and tears hurtle into darkest space
My mind’s eye stares … but cannot see …
My emotions cascading … but I cannot scream
You have decimated my very being …
And all because … you could

online today!
Lost and trying to find my way
In a daze not knowing what day
Nothing making sense anymore
Desperately seeking the right door
But every place I turn is the wrong way
Not trusting and not easily persuade
Not knowing what evil awaits ahead
Must use my heart instead of my head
Hunger and thirst a constant companion
Life stretching out before me like a deep canyon
Then suddenly I knew and picked the right door
For behind I knew I would find my Lord
Not lost - my thirst quenched and hunger fed
No longer lost but using my heart - not my head

Angel eyes who came to me
with such sincerity
instantly I felt your glow
wanting to hold you so
I looked into those lovely eyes
I was sure you heard me sigh
then when I heard you speak
I felt my legs just go all weak
then when you came so close to me
I whispered God please let it be
was this our history in the making
I really felt my hands were shaking
wondering what was in store
with feelings I've never had before
the way you looked it's like you knew
and you had funny feelings too
I know I'll never be the same
forever saying your lovely name
its like we had a kind of pact
and will never have to act
I really don't know what I'll do
If I don't end up with you
some how it just feels so right
chatting together every night
I must admit I'm so excited
and noticed you seem so delighted
when you let me write a letter
it really did make me feel better
I hope you like what I had to say
I pretend you read it every day
to me its really so romantic
and think that you are so fantastic
now listening for our nightly text
I wonder where we're going next
I don't mind the anticipation
for you it will be worth the waiting
Because for you I'm mesmorized
with your lovely
Angel Eyes
