Oceanzest

two sticks

outlines in the dust

outlines in the dust

thousand year winds

wrought the valley

I met two sticks crossed in the desert

and piped long with the deliverer

there, there, gather the menagerie

there, there, gather the free

Sands of time

The sands of time drift about within the wind
Feel how it blows softly against the skin
Thoughts and feelings are but grains of sand
See how they sift gently from the hand

Words of love seem to have little meaning
but it is the hope of those still dreaming
They sometimes just leave us screaming

The sands of time blowing sublime
Caressing our soul with its passionate heat
As we search blindly to make us feel complete
Watch the ocean waves ebb and flow
rushing to drown us as it pulls us in the tow

The many times I see the foot prints
I still wonder if I am still being carried
Or have I lost my way as I wander aimlessly
into the fray.

I despise my bitterness and dismay
I feel so old and grey
I reflect upon my younger day
when love was a bit easier to play
Its just getting too hard today

So I shall gather a handful of sand
and let it drift softly out of my hand
and consider every grain is nothing
more than unanswered dreams
drifting in dried up streams

Why should I care for a face so fair
with flowing soft hair?
For they don't seem to care either
for a fool thread bare

I Would

I would like to spend quality time with YOU, have fun, hold your hand if you would like that too.

I am sure it would bring me great pleasure.
Just being in your company, me being me and YOU being YOU would truly bless me with joy and give me fond memories to treasure.

I would enjoy spoiling YOU, and cherish YOU forever

if YOU were mine

I would like to break tradition by me surprising YOU sometimes with chocolates, flowers and a bottle of wine !

I could massage your shoulders after a hard days work and run YOU a hot bath to soak in if YOU were my lover

I would love to cook for YOU, share a special meal, glass of wine with you and maybe we could spoon feed dessert to each other.

Remember

Remember when our days were simple
as we hugged and wrestled as I kissed
your dimples.

Remember our dreams for the future
seemed so distant and far
We couldn't wait until we could drive
a car

Remember our scraped knees and little ouchies
the games we played in the yard and even on the couchies

Remember the hikes in the woods and climbing trees
as high as we could?
Those summer lazy days and nights that never seemed to end
the soft tender touches I always tried to send
often to remind you that I will always be your friend

Its very sad today seeing how those days have passed
Our lives have changed and we grew apart
yet, you were always in my heart.
Now, I am pondering the memories as I hold your hand
once again as they now have tubes hooked up to
machines to keep you alive until you leave to the promised land

Remember the moments that count
Remember the joys of your heart
Hopefully they will carry you into your next
chance to start

I shall remember you always and the times we had
We were there for each other in good times and bad
I guess its time to let go

The dream killer

I see poems written on walls
Colours, rainbows, gardens and waterfalls,
I seek the universe in a grain of sand
And only find a pull that keeps me on the ground...
I see children playing, daydreaming,
Building castles, screaming, laughing,
I seek inside my inner child
And wonder why it went off wild...
I see lovers holding hands,
Kissing, hugging, sharing a band,
A tight rope that unites them
In time of hope, of love or shame.
I see myself walking through life
In endless pain, troubles and strife...
But I'm not dead, just off the rail
And as always, fragile and frail
I see my life going nowhere
Without aims or goals, no sense or dare..
I seek again inside of me
A truth, a voice, a friend.. maybe?
But I'm alone amongst strangers
Who have no time for my angers
I see faces, smiling at me
When all I want was them to see
That I'm alive, like all of them
With their routine and their problem
And if I come across like different
It's just a phase, just a moment..
I seek for God, the one above
To light the path from his alcove
But all I see, are bright yellow
Rays of sunshine through my window...
I see poems written on walls..
Please tell me you see them all...
Please tell me I'm not dreaming
I see life form... but it's fading...
Grant me Goddess the noble heart
And touch thy soul that falls apart
I'm not perfect, I'm just weakened
By carrying heavy burdens..
Grant me Goddess to see the day
For all of us to live at bay
From hatred, violence and crimes
I want colours, poems and rimes..
But all I get and all I see
Is market place and covered mall
Shopping centre full of people
Walking about, searching a deal
A cheaper shirt, a mobile phone
A bargain bag, a pair of jeans...
Money will kill all of our dreams...

About this poem:
On that day, my son was attending an open day at a University.. and I went walking in town, waiting for him... I sat at a coffee in the heart of a shopping centre... and wrote down my impression of that moment... between advertising on walls, shoppers and sad reality of our "modern" society...
Not too sure in what category this fall in... so I went for dark poetry... free verse...
The dream killer...

Backpacking in Nepal, June 1974

Resting in a hill station guest-house,
over the worst of dysentery.

The bazaar dealer's tab,
“Sir, good stuff... straight up...
San Francisco. Yellow Sunshine."
Is starting to hit and
I'm smoking a chillum of charas.

Through the fog of writhing smoke
and dancing rainbow mountain mists,
I watch a woman,
a Mahavidya - maybe
pad the jasmine track
to a distant wayside shrine.

Pennants and wind chimes
line the pathway.
Incense drapes the trees.

She sings a hymn;
echoing against granite crags
rebounding in the songs of birds
it entrances me even
as it mystifies me

‘her gods are not known to me,
all gods are unknown to me’

She made the journey yesterday,
shoeless,
and the day before.

I feel the pulse of
foot... foot... foot
bruising the grass.

And with each weighted step
the sighing of rooted blades
that would walk beside her
if they could.

I am rooted too.

My angel in the heavens above

As i look at your eyes shining brightly through the heavens above your beauty shines high above me through my darkiest hours above my head your shining beaken of hope glistens through my fragile heart as it beats for your true love as a angel shining brightly above the heavens clouds your warm smile gives me hope and a love in my heart.

Time Wasted

Time wasted fretting over the loss
looking at your pic its faded now
and lost a bit of its gloss

Counting the memories of our joys
and sorrows wishing there more to borrow

The love you offer is just so confusing
its lost its flair and not very amusing
Promises never made or kept
You made sure you had no obligations
to be met.

Though your beauty is without measure
and you are the most beautiful treasure
I see you slipping and falling away
each and every day.

I dreamed for eternity in the hope
for the day to kiss your lips
To taste your love with every drip
feeding your nectar that fills my bowl
I ask for more to nurture my soul

How I long for your scent to engulf
my air that it is only you I care
Yet, you fight me tooth and nail
with your anger behind your veil

Such a waste indeed in my hour of need
I can never leave as you hold me captive
for your beauty is a poison which is of a
unique breed

It makes men go to battle and destroy or build
nations it makes one go crazy picking daisies
as the sun sets and the sky gets hazy
You are the sun and moon of my dreams
You are the water I drink in the streams

Beloved of my soul you gave a shovel
to dig my own hole
For you I do it with gladness if it could
mean I could one day taste your love
and set myself free and fly away like a dove

Goodbye my friend

Goodbye my friend
Until we meet again
We talked so much
of dreams that would
never end
We danced around
the tree of life
Often with joy
and strife

We watched mountains crumble
to the sea
We counted clouds drifting endlessly
We kissed among the flowers
Yours was the sweetest they could be

We cried many tears
and suffered many fears
We walked through darkness
for so many years

Now I hear the call of the angel
I see her gentle hand
She beckons me home
to make my final stand

I am going away to a place
I have never been
I wish you were with me
for I am shaking like a leaf
I never felt so much grief

I see shadows and images
faces and strange places
yet they seem somewhat familiar
but still they remain peculiar

If only you were with me my love
I wouldn't feel so cold and alone
The angel led me to a stone
carved upon it was a dove

Written upon the stone
were the names of everyone
I ever knew that I had to atone
All the pain all the strain
All the regrets and all things
I tried to forget

I had to let go so that love
could continue to flow
I had to forgive so that
I can once again live

Out of the ground came chains
of steel they were wrapping themselves
around the stone ever getting tighter
as if it was going to crush it
into pieces
I could hear the voices screaming of those listed
upon the stone praying in anguish as it tightens
then releases

They cried unto me to let them go and my
resentments to allow the flow of atonements
I set them free most urgently and prayerfully

Yet there is one which is you my love my guardian
angel in whom has been my friend to the end
How shall I look upon you knowing my ways?
Will I be able to let you go for the rest of my days?

Wild Violets

Try as she might, she could not get him out of her head.
He was still there, rummaging through her thoughts
Rearranging her messy heart,
His breath planting wild violets underneath her skin
Laying claim to her soul
She wonders if he has any idea of his effect on her
And if so
Why...how.... Is he not here?

About this poem:
I love the way the author uses the nature around and us to perfectly depict the emotions within us. Be it a flower or a season, we are nature and nature is us. We were born into it and we gave life to it. The storms that rage within us probably look a lot like the one's we seek shelter from. Nature is a mirror of the seasons within us.
