When you get to 40 or over and maybe have been single for a while, experience and having the confidence to be independent means we don't have to take the first offer that comes along.
Hard to please? No, it's about knowing what we want or need in order to have a successful relationship. If that means we deny ourselves opportunities then so be it. Better to be alone than waste time when you're over 40 on empty relationships.

I don't seek perfection either because it doesn't exist, but we are, in general, more picky, nay, confident and with hindsight, as we get older.

I'm picky and if I chose a guy, it's because he's right for me. I don't need a man. I'm not afraid to be alone and could care less if I date. Any man who thinks women over 40 are needy, is an idiot!
I'd rather pay extra on a trip to be left alone, so I can have a good time.
The older I get and spend more time alone, the less I care about men.
I'm intelligent, experienced, could care less about money, status or prestige. I just want to enjoy the sun, read a book, ride my bike, jump dunes...wait, my life is simple and I don't need a man at all.
