I think Obamacare is great. Finally something is being done so all can have health care. All of us that pay for health care should not have to keep paying higher premiums for those that continue to use the ER's for medical care.

Since life has no value or respect in the US, this move can't surprise anyone. If they can't get you in the womb, then the Government will get you before you get into the coffin. The old, who are vulnerable have the absolute right to be protected and cared for - they funded the country throughout their lifetime. If the sick logic is used, that only those who can currently pay should receive support, then that logic has to apply to those who are paying, and then find themselves out of work - they should be allowed to die without any care. Life is sacred from conception to natural death - it was the old people who built the country, therefore you have an obligation to look after them when they can no longer afford to look after themselves.

You need to take a closer look at Obamascare. You will be paying even higher premiums through taxes plus costs.
My question to you is this, should a 18 to 30 year old man who may see the doctor maybe once or twice in as many years be forced to buy health care he doesn't need?
Believe me Obummercare isn't a freebee. Most of Europe has socialized medicine and it comes with waiting lists to see a doctor, higher taxes, and forcible payroll deductions.

Its not a perfect system by any stretch of the imagination, but what you're saying is dependent upon some people never getting ill.
At least with a social healthcare system people aren't left untreated, or left to die because they they've had the misfortune to get ill and are too poor to access essential care.

If you have an emergency, you don't have to wait to see a specialist here, either.
Someone might present to their GP in the morning with a lump and be on the operating table in the afternoon; in an emergency my daughter was collected from the house, processed and on a ward having life saving treatment all within 30 minutes.
What we don't have is people being offered maintenance treatments, rather than the most effective curative ones available based upon ability to pay. People can opt into a supreme level of care with all the trimmings if they choose and can afford it, but otherwise everyone is entitled to a high level of health care.
It strikes me, in America, if you can't pay, you get lesser treatment. You have to opt in and be able to afford standard care. If that's not the case, why are there moves to provide a more equitable healthcare system?

Put very simply, all elderly people should be respected, they have spent their lives contributing to the country as much as anyone else! The Government should acknowledge this... and if their children are so heartless that they cannot look after them and see them as a CRUTCH, then society in general should make sure they get all the care possible in order to die with the dignity they deserve! People are quick to throw money into all sorts of charitys, even inother countrys, how about looking after the aged... jmo

Yes. I totally agree with you, but I do NOT think it is up to the government to decide who has the right to live or die. The right to life -- or death -- should be an individual choice.

How can you pretend to be a great nation when you don't take care of your elders until they die ? after all they did for the Nation, working hard, paying Taxes, making the economy work buying and selling stuffs, employing ... oh my.. what a world is this ???
Here, not only the elders and the poors are the priorities of our Social Security, but we have special days dedicated to the old people, i mean we go to work for free and the money is blocked for them (altzheimer and high dependence most) . It sure is not the best system in the world but at least we still consider our elders our treasures to respect and love !
