It's unanswerable, as until you actually know the person how can you form a true opinion about their personality??
Skype is no different to any other form of communication, you can meet someone in a post office, supermarket or bar, and still not really know if they are being real or just putting on a front to impress.

I only use skype for phone calls, there is considerable saving on international calls. I only use video with people I know and family.

'I agree, it is a Godsend if you have to make international calls, it uses the same networks as ordinary phones, they just but up spare time, and remember Skype to Skype is free.

I did it too to make sure he is using fake pictures or not. I've never had problem about being recorded. One ridiculous rule on this site which states not to exchange Skype only increases numbers of fakers. I broke the rules !!! I used mobile videocall.
LDR needs verbal communication & face to face too even only through screen. Not only writing/reading. Listening to his voice is important to me. If he doesn't have money, then he shouldn't try LDR.

A scammer created a thread on the forums with side-ways photos and a claim to be a web-designer on his profile.
Alexandro took a little while to work out how to rotate his profile pic and I think there may have been a joke, or two about that on a different thread.
I think it's okay to put the pitchforks down and let the newcomer approach.

I cannot see what is wrong with using Skype..
I keep in contact with CS members with it... especially those who are no longer here..
and the very best thing about Skype is... it is a free service, and using my lappy, I can show my friends what I have been up to.. usually the garden etc.. but I get to see them in their environment..
Its a beaut tool... I think..

No, it was the profile with the sideways pic of an Asian fella from Pennsylvania who claimed to be a web designer, not the Hispanic/Latino fella from Iran/Italy/France who took a moment to rotate his photo.
They are both brown and both had a sideways pic. There the connection ends.

oh that one darn it i like when there is scammers here from pennyslvania i want to meet them right away funny though they always say oh im out of the country right now 
now they dont bother woman in same state another scammer who messed up his profile.. there is one now im talking to who say he in the army but profile say LEGAL in occupation making 150,000 well copy and paste isnt working stupid scammer wrong message to fit your profile..
