The thing is when you really know what you really really want and it will have a meaning for you - then you will do it and you will be happy with it.I didn't care much about tattoos when I was younger.. And became interested about 10 years ago.. Was thinking to get one but was not sure and was changing my mind same as you .. But about 4 years ago one day I saw one picture and knew in my heart that what I want.. now I want another one or two:)) and my daughter want to make a matching mother/daughter tattoo, she is busy designing it..
People are getting inked for different reasons: some were drunk when they did it, some are thinking it's fashionable, some are doing it for themselves and absolutely don't care what other people think.

Just try and think of it as .... (in my case) ... you go out and buy a book eg:.. Elvis Biography... you read it ... after you read it ... it gets stored away... or over the years (50plus) it gets tossed away in the rubbish ....They look gross especially on a older, saggy, badly sun burnt skin...

I got a Red Rose, with leaves on one side and thorns on the other and no black ink, on my Ankle a few yrs ago! I love it.

Now i know i don't want one.
Recently while visiting my grandchildren in UK,they put two on my shoulder
of a unicorn and a rose, they have washed out now.
