I'm sure the Baby Boomers will go with the 1960's or 1970's, while us Gen X'ers will likely stat the 1980's, while millennials will say 1990's or 2000's.
But hey, I could be wrong with some people in those groups.
Although I really like 70's bands, including those that came from the 60's, they were my options sought later, unlike the 80's being a fully lived moment.
The 1920's... Real music ( not thas synth/techno/rap crap ) And the dances, lmao, so fun! The guys looked gallant and the gals harmless, not like today where one risks going to jail just complimenting a woman.
What makes you think there IS a best "decade" for music? IF you like a particular "decade" of music, what you're really saying has NOTHING to do with the music, but a LOT to do with your memory of your life experiences, DURING that decade. Good music has been made in every decade. In every genre. There IS NO "best", only different. If you're a TRUE music "lover", then you'll find some music you like, in every decade, in every genre. To even ask this question is admitting that you're NOT a music lover! Youi have NO APPRECIATION for the diversity of music.
Love 80s music....it reminds of a time when my older siblings were getting ready to go out and watching my sisters get ready...when me and my younger sister were still too young to go out.
Also love Motown ..whatever decade that was I'm not sure ....I'm guessing the 60s.
The 80s would be the most insufferable decade for music. Music had reached that point where manufacturing took over but the average in sound created was still a low average, since then they’ve had 30 years to perfect mediocrity.

The best decade was the 60s, the 1860s
Agree, wasn't so much the music.....it was the time.
For example, Jimi Hendrix......in todays world of wah wah pedals blah blah blah...he did it without copying. Controlled feedback at the time was NEW. Gary Newman is another prime example, tekno etc etc. It was NEW.
Bowie (Jones) was new
Ska. Rasta etc etc. Funboy3 had more soul than Eminem. The music today has no soul.
The Rolling Stones came to Invercargill (NZ) and Mick said that Invers was the arsehole of the end of the world, he's probably right but one things for sure, people will remember Mick compared to a wannabee Eminem on a 8 mile high that never lasted a kilometre.
I wouldn't choose a decade but a combination of different singers and bands... At work I prefer to play Billie Holiday, Frank and Nat King Cole... I find the 80s and 70 cheesy-ly-rebellious...

Motown was jamming through the 60's and into the 70's.
[QUOTE} To even ask this question is admitting that you're NOT a music lover! Oh, you're so wrong on that one. There's some good music in other decades that's not bad that I enjoy, I still have my opinion that the 80's had the best. And you're right in that since, it's a lot of what you remember with experience as well to what you grew up listening to in a lot of ways. There are a few songs I actually like from the 70's and 90's. Maybe a couple of more from over the past 15 years.

I screwed up my last comment with the quote, so I'm posting this the right way this time. lol
