Harbal: On the other hand, at the root of it there are human beings with big problems; they don't just choose to have a gender mismatch on a whim. How you can come across as heartbroken over the "murder" of a small bundle of cells with no consciousness yet be completely insensitive to the awful situation that these "freaks" find themselves in strongly suggests that your moral compass is badly in need of recalibration.
I am certainly not insensitive to the psychological problems these people experience. I sympathize deeply. But I think we do them no favours by pandering to their delusions. If I claim to be a purple giraffe, does that make me one?
