mollybaby: It depends on whether the fear is rational or irrational.
It also depends on where they are in control of the fear, i.e panic attacks etc Fear is an emotion, a feeling. No matter how bad it will pass. It seems the trick is to to catch it before it escalates to panic mode Life throws many things out way, first thing in the morning set the minset to positive and let things come and go on their own. Easier said than done

Almost all irrational fear has its roots in some form of experienced unprocessed trauma. This can include traumatic experiences in very early life without the indiidual having any recollection of the event.
Any experiences we have become stored into memory, processed, then stored in the subconscious, including of course any traumatic experiences.
If the traumatic experiences are not processed, or "caught" as you put it, they can sit in the subconscious waiting to be activated in the form of fear as long as they remain unprocessed.
A stable and peaceful mind will process any experience traumatic or not within the conscious mind (memory) before it enters into and is stored in the subconscious mind.
Unprocessed traumas sits in the subconscious like a computer virus waiting to reinfect the conscious with the individual unable to control it's sometimes devastating effects.

How can someone process trauma if they can't remember it?
