The 80's coz I'm a child of them. I love most decades and music, except boybands and country and pestern, but gimme me a bit of eighties cheese such as Erasure, Queen, the Pet Flop Boys and a million more and I'll be out on the floor embarrassing myself
I voted for the 80's, because most of the bands I really love are from that era. However, the 90's bring back sweet memories, eurodance 4eva.... Also love a lot of things from the 70's... And some from the 40's, 50's and 60's too! LOL
50's and 60's. For the sheer quality of singers. There has been great music in any era, but the bands of the OLDIES period were great singers. They had to SING, for the most part. Now, they still make great music, but a really good singer stands out because they are the exception.....JMO, of course
In response to: the 80's was the best for music.duran duran. culture club. human league. depeche mode. madonna at her best. and wat about kylie..
The 80s era was also my fave for music. I liked the bands that you mentioned. Also, Adam & the ants, visage, Ultravox, UB40, Dire Straits and many more
I loved the big hair and excess make up too, even on the men
I have some wickedly cool memories of the fun filled flambuoyant 80s decade..
Definitely the 70's. All the greats from the 50's and 60's were still touring and collaborating with the youngsters. Delta blues men would open for great rock bands. Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Howlin' Wolf and B.B. King toured with the Temptations and Chuck Berry. I saw some Legends! I could buy concert tickets out of my allowance and still have money for gas and a t-shirt. All day music festivals had blues, rock, funk, soul, folk and progressive played by real musicians.
All that crap in the 80's put me right off music. Duran Duran, Madonna, Rap and DISCO!!! Blech! I thought the 80's would never go away. They were awful, indeed.
Thought I'd died and gone to Heaven when I heard Nirvana. (err, so to speak)
Although I stopped doing that over a decade ago, I am still a music man at heart. Got more then 35 years of music playing in my head.
In the poll I said now. Why?
Because althou a particular era will mean a lot to a particular age group (we ALL feel the music of our youth was the best ever), like all forms of art, it is just an evolution.
If Chuck Berry didn't rock around in the 50's, would we have had punk in the 70's?
If there hadn't been a Hendrix, would we have a Lenny Krevitz?
If there weren't the Zeppelin, would we have had the U 2's?
There's a lot of rubbish around, as always. But then we got Goo Goo Dolls, we got Red Hot Chili Peppers, and so on and so forth.
