THE FICTION CALLED PALESTINE

There is no such a thing as Palestinian; they are simply Arabs. The Philistines (the Sea People) came from the Islands of Aegean Sea in Greece around 4000 years ago (at the time of Moses) and occupied the coast of Israel and other Mediterranean countries; they disappeared from the area around 3000 years ago. Then, after the revolt of Jews against the Roman occupation of Israel 2000 years ago, the Romans changed the name of Israel to “Provinica Palestina”. That name stuck to Israel since then. Now the Arabs claim that they are Palestinian and native of Israel. They are simply Arabs, not Philistine or Palestinian.

All former occupiers of Israel, including the Greeks, Romans, English, and Turks left Israel, why not the Arabs?

Jews have continuously lived in Israel for thousands of years even after their expulsion by the Romans. Arabs are only recent occupiers of Israel, and one of many. They came from surrounding Arab countries to work for the British between WWI and WWII, as stated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939: "Arab immigration into Palestine since 1921 has vastly exceeded the total Jewish immigration during the whole period."

When Mark Twain visited Israel in 1867, he described Israel as an empty desolate land that "there is not a solitary village throughout its whole extent" in his book, “The Innocents Abroad.” The British also described Israel as an empty desolate land. Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, the great British cartographer, reached similar conclusions in 1881: "In Judea it is hardly an exaggeration to say that for miles and miles there was no appearance of life or habitation." The British Consul General, James Finn, wrote in 1857: "the country is in a considerable degree empty of inhabitants."

Jews have never given permission to Arabs and Muslims to live on their land. This is different from Muslims living in England since England has given them permission to live on their land.

But most of them were not indigenous to the Area!

aspen12: because they have one of the largest army and have killed so many people

Am sorry how do you have one of the 'worlds largest Armies'...when you have 5.5m people in your country? Israel......5.5m population. China has a larger Army than all of Israel combined with 14m in uniform.

No...what you are seeing....is a small Army frequently being used. So it get a lot of media attention. Why is the Israeli army so frequently used?
Maybe because mortars/rockets/missiles are frequently launched from Gaza.

Conrad73: Well, since the Philistines came from the Aegean, the Greeks own Palestine!
Partial quote from Juan Cole:

Therefore if historical building of Jerusalem and historical connection with Jerusalem establishes sovereignty over it as Netanyahu claims, here are the groups that have the greatest claim to the city:
A. The Muslims, who ruled it and built it over 1191 years.
B. The Egyptians, who ruled it as a vassal state for several hundred years in the second millennium BCE.
C. The Italians, who ruled it about 444 years until the fall of the Roman Empire in 450 CE.
D. The Iranians, who ruled it for 205 years under the Achaemenids, for three years under the Parthians (insofar as the last Hasmonean was actually their vassal), and for 15 years under the Sasanids.
E. The Greeks, who ruled it for over 160 years if we count the Ptolemys and Seleucids as Greek. If we count them as Egyptians and Syrians, that would increase the Egyptian claim and introduce a Syrian one.
F. The successor states to the Byzantines, which could be either Greece or Turkey, who ruled it 188 years, though if we consider the heir to be Greece and add in the time the Hellenistic Greek dynasties ruled it, that would give Greece nearly 350 years as ruler of Jerusalem.
G. There is an Iraqi claim to Jerusalem based on the Assyrian and Babylonian conquests, as well as perhaps the rule of the Ayyubids (Saladin’s dynasty), who were Kurds from Iraq.
9. Of course, Jews are historically connected to Jerusalem by the Temple, whenever that connection is dated to. But that link mostly was pursued when Jews were not in political control of the city, under Iranian, Greek and Roman rule. It cannot therefore be deployed to make a demand for political control of the whole city.
10. The Jews of Jerusalem and the rest of Palestine did not for the most part leave after the failure of the Bar Kochba revolt against the Romans in 136 CE. They continued to live there and to farm in Palestine under Roman rule and then Byzantine. They gradually converted to Christianity. After 638 CE all but 10 percent gradually converted to Islam. The present-day Palestinians are the descendants of the ancient Jews and have every right to live where their ancestors have lived for centuries.

He is!

Juan R. I. Cole is Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History at the University of Michigan. For three decades, he has sought to put the relationship of the West and the Muslim world in historical context. His most recent book is Engaging the Muslim World (Palgrave Macmillan, March, 2009) and he also recently authored Napoleon’s Egypt: Invading the Middle East (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007). He has been a regular guest on PBS’s Lehrer News Hour, and has also appeared on ABC Nightly News, Nightline, the Today Show, Charlie Rose, Anderson Cooper 360, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, the Colbert Report, Democracy Now! and many others. He has given many radio and press interviews. He has written widely about Egypt, Iran, Iraq, and South Asia. He has commented extensively on al-Qaeda and the Taliban, the Iraq War, the politics of Pakistan and Afghanistan, and Iranian domestic struggles and foreign affairs. He has a regular column at Salon.com. He continues to study and write about contemporary Islamic movements, whether mainstream or radical, whether Sunni and Salafi or Shi`ite. Cole commands Arabic, Persian and Urdu and reads some Turkish, knows both Middle Eastern and South Asian Islam. He lived in various parts of the Muslim world for nearly 10 years, and continues to travel widely there.

Do you have a better expert to quote on the subject? Or maybe sources that prove him wrong?

If you go back in history of the Jews in the middleast many centuries ago, you will find that many of them were forcibly converted to Islam as they were conquered. Or risk being executed according to the Koran. Others were forcibly expulsed from the area and went into Europe and even parts of Russia.

I believe that was not mentioned in the article but one only look at the history of the Jews who lived in the middleast in general when Islam swept the area. This should answer the question as to why there is the similarity. Many Palestinians obviously do not know of their Jewish ancestry as Islam has obviously wiped it from their heritage.

Same thing happened in WW2 with the Jewish children that were taken into hiding by the Catholic church and converted. Many of those children and their decendants were not even aware of their Jewish roots until the church has opened up their archival records. Now compare that with centuries that have passed since an ancestor was forcibly converted to Islam. Future decendants would not know their Jewish roots. Same situation just different faiths.

Very interesting what science and genetics bring to light.

While you are viewing this, do look to the side and check out the Hamas videos of training their children to do jihad through plays and even Mickey Mouse stories. There are also videos there of Hamas literally grabbing a child by the arm and pulling him over to be a human shield. In another video, it is shown rounding up the children to be a a human shield around some guy's home.

Before you bash the Israelis with the Pallywood videos, do also take a view of some of the Hamas training videos I viewed from right off of the you.tube web site you posted.
