The number we will never know....

Is it $200m or $1m? The cost for sending President Obama a cast of 3000 (including 150 CEO types) to India for the G-20? For a day......

Now they are talking about how a entire major and exclusive hotel was rented for the 10 day of the conference. I think that we need to host a
G-20 here in the US....down here in Florida.

We can get out the air and bass boats....go out on the lakes and swamps.....do a little fishing and gator hunting....go back to the RV and trailer park that was rented for the 10 days. Cook up some grits and deep fry some gator and pan fry some fish. Pull out a bud, sit back and enjoy the 10 days. Do some swamp cabbage and burgers and dogs.

You know...just to get the world's leaders 'back in touch with the people'. Also to get them back in touch with a 12 foot gator that only wants to snap on them and take them into a death roll. No, it is not the REP during the mid term.....but pretty close.

But aside from risking the leaders of the world to sever gator bites. That is the kind of environment you need to iron of differences. With this is being done in Mumbai...which we all know had some serious problems recently with a Islamic terrorist attack. But aside from that, you already got troubles and riots because of the G-20 in Europe.......5000 miles away.

Put these guys together.....and the 'we are the world people' start
to rumble and make noise. The 'we are the world people' totally dislike the idea of the G-20. Say "G-20" to a 'we are the world person', and the red bandana automatically comes on the face to keep the tear gas. out. The nearest rock is picked up. Ranging for the nearest law enforcement officer begins. It is like a auto-reflex response for a 'we are the world person'.

So I am thinking we need to down scale these G-20 meetings some. You know have it at Red's Fish Camp. Let them flying in and wear jeans, shorts and T-Shirts....instead of suits....let them be real people for a change. Instead of being walking and talking poster boys for Yves Saint Lauren, Gucci, Valentino, and Logdstall.

The entire concept that you can put on a suit that cost $1000+ go to economic summit were you are going to talk billions and trillions. When in Haiti today....1000s are sitting in plastic tents filled with mud and water and have Hurricane Tomas swirling over head is repulsive to most people. Specially since many of these G-20 promised aid to Haiti, after the earth quake.

If 'we are the world people' were throwing rocks for that reason, hand me one. I still got a little arm left in me. But they are not. They are throwing rocks because of the austerity plans that came to Europe. From the economic crash. Which at this point, I am dropping my rock. And am picking up a police baton and helmet.

We have heard allot about leader disconnect from the people of recent.
I am saying that when leaders to get to office.....by playing dirty politics to get there...fail then to be real people. The people at Red Fish Camp or in the Tents of Haiti have much more class and dignity than they.

The two parties spent about 2b for the mid term election. Studies show that about 1/2 the politic advertising today is negative and attack adds. Or about 1b worth political insults, rants, demonizing, misinformation and political hackery. The US government....promised
to send the people of Haiti 1b after the earth quake. Both political parties are lapse in not getting it done. Now we send the President on a trip to the G-20......that some say will cost a 1b.

As long governments fail the least of these, they have disconnected from the people, they serve and the people that placed them into office.

JSuburbia: Don't take this as an insult, because it really isn't meant to be one...But does serving in the Greek military really count as military service? Isn't that like being a national park ranger?

Oh, I served in the Swiss army as well, by the way. So you served in the Greek army during the military junta and enjoyed "the national park ranger"?

Just a small question: Why did the US-administration close the airport of Porto Prince and some 50% of the collected aid from other countries for Haiti could not reach the destination?
Some 50% could, landing on Santo Domingo airport and driving the trucks by land up to Porto Prince.

With a trade balance that is mind boggling South China Airway....one of the Red China Subsidiary companies grin decided buy $3.78b of Airbus heavy iron. Meaning that Boeing did not get the contract.

Meaning Obama's initiative to get the Red China onboard to economic tranqaulity between the two countries, seems to be failing. Now, I have to agree....selling Taiwan $6b in US weapons....some from Boeing might be a good reason for China to cold shoulder the US here. But Taiwan would have bought from Europe then....and Airbus parent company.

One is civil and the other is a military acquisition. But under China rules of economic progress, do you really think that South China Airways had a free market choice here to make? Not if the CEO did not want to end up in the rice paddy with the CEO of the China Bank director that lost the $430b of American T-bills.

Obama's trade and economic assessment of China has been weak in understanding the giant red dragon. They see it as a trade imbalance
and currency valuation. Rather it is near economic warfare that China government is using around world, were punish your enemies and help your friends is the logic and line.

In a real free enterprise global system.....South China Airways would not be ordered to buy the Airbus heavy iron. It would have a free choice decision to make. But I bet the Boeing salesman got the door slammed in his face more than once at South China.

So really, it is a misnomer to think that China is a free enterprise system. Or even a capitolist system. Really it is a Communist system that does what is best for the State.

We can dance around the pirated DvDs and CDs......the bad milk....
dangerous drywall.....toxic toys......mass shipments of AK-47s....making the Cruise missile Carrier Killer D-21......and the 1000s of Chinese in forced labor factories and prison camps making it all. But having a Boeing salesman have the door at South China slammed in his face....that is a real insult. Considering he has some great products to sale.

I think that Boeing should file a WTO violation....just to see how China would respond.....and to see what the Obama Administration, that is still trying to figure out if having Corning plants in Venesulea nationalized...would do and say.grin

well, we did it to Georgia, and if throwing one more under the bus balances takes a huge leap towards balancing the budget..I say give it a go...After the Georgia debacle, our word isn't worth anything anyways...I know technically that Georgia wasn't part of NATO, but in a sense, our word to defend them was implied which is just as good as a promise where I'm from.

Hmmm, the WTO was during 15 years and brought nothing. I don’t know about who “forbid” the Chinese to buy Boeing planes. Just tell me, I cannot know everything. The thing I know is that the Chinese owns more than 1/3 of your state bonds, and on the other hand you are still the biggest client, means you hold each other by your both noses...

3. The worldwide military expenditure was in 2003 about 1, 2 trillion and in 2009 about 1, 6 trillion, an increase of some 30%, means an increase of roughly 2.0 to 2.2 of the total world-GPD. The US military expenditure within was around 40-45% of the total. This big %- increase between 2003 and 2009 is mainly due to the increased “non self defence military expenditure” of about 200 b of a total of about 700 b in USA. This is the approximate amount which contributes to the USA total GDP, but the US weapon, arms, ammunition, war vehicle, electronics could roughly only cover its exports of some 65 b, because as I mentioned before, your industrial sector became weak comparing with your tertiary sector. The remaining gap is filled up with mergers and alliances, likewise in the petroleum and gas industry.

4. Concerning the October monetary crash I mentioned to study the tricky mechanism behind the whole game and who created it. This is of importance because as I stated, the approximate 2.3 trillion did not get lost, but just changed hands and its interesting to know to whom hands. But more important is the impact in the worldwide economy, which is estimated as much as high, because of the economy-stagnation in many western countries (including yours), beside the danger of a stagflation rising. The banks in general never loose, maybe a Lehman Brothers introducing the game will self declare concurs, but what is this bank comparing for example with City bank and UBS? After the liquidity bottleneck they will ask the governments for help, and obviously they did. For example, Swiss tax payers finally had to pay some for 4 b beside, the support of the Swiss national bank buying corrupt bonds, in order to “save” the giant UBS. Would you like to know about similar examples in your country?

Nancy is still on the bus, Conrad.

Now you got to understand the debacle, she presently presents the Obama Adminstration.

She just got waxed in the mid terms. So some in the White House want to toss her out the door of the bus. So do the remaining Blue Dogs in Congress. Or open the read emergency door....tie a rope to her....and drag her for a distance.

But she is a SF liberal. If they do that. Then coalition between SF and Chicago liberals just got severed. And the White House is seeing about the only blue in the country being on the west coast. Lose Nancy and they soon lose Boxer and the west Coast.

So with the remaining DEM in the Congress...mostly west coast liberals, Nancy stands a good chance to win minority whip. But now you have Clayborn....a black man....and the former whip both playing for it.

The White House need to play peace maker here on the power pull between the three. The Black caucus is at stake. The remaining blue dog DEM....want the former whip and not the loser Pelosi.... and Nancy has done a Mosh pit fall from the Speaker position into the arms of the west Coast liberal DEM in Congress. (That is a image am trying to forget having).

But if the White House gets into the middle of this circular firing squad that is being set up....none in the House is going to be happy with them. FYI...I did hear the 'circular firing squad quote' on FOX regarding this. I think Mr. Sensitivity should go for a copywrite violation.

So Nancy....the one that held the gavel while Obamacare and TARP II was passed...is going to get the minority whip..just to be a poke at the REP that took the house. Meaning the Black caucus and the remaining blue dog DEMs.....are available to support REP legislation. Ain't America great!

An american base in Australia? Don't really see why we'd need one there to be honest. Australian military is modern enough they don't need us, and there really is no stategic need for us to be there that the Australians can't handle.

They have talked about a shared base for about 5 years. It is to be a new base combined army/ air force. This is due to location & on the Adelaide to darwin rail link.

I dont think your country wants it permanently but with the strong alliance and for training etc its probably a good idea.

Also both countries already have shared facilities Pine Gap & NW Cape ( Harold Holt Naval Base)

Other than Taiwan is part of SEATO and when we start trading SEATO countries for China national debt....SKorea, Phillipine Island, Japan, might start to get nervous. Sarcasism is fully accepted here....it is a
Dude Obama thread...anything less and we would know you are just pulling our leg. grin

But no, a serious answer. Taiwan goes back to Chaing Chek and Nationalist China of pre WWII. One of our strong allies in the region then. Though a Island nation today, if we dump them....we lose a strategic partner. That is strategic position near China. The number of sensors and radars to listen and watch to the Chinese Red Army on the Taiwan....is about to sink the Island. The closer your sensor/radars are...the deeper into the country you can range into for electronic intelligence.

But that is the main military reason to support Taiwan.

Make sense to me. If we have a air base in Northern AU....we can hop from Pearl to AU to Diego Garcia to Afghanistan. It is a logistic link to Afghanistan from the south and west (er East if you are in Afghanistan)

Remember the Russian are letting us use the a northern route to the country...but no munitions or weapons being shipped.....they must want us to use rocks....

So it is a logistic route into Central Asia that by passes the Middle East and Persian Gulf. EG....Petreaus asked for convert operations a couple months ago for CEN COMM. Pretty hard to get a convert operation thru the Suez canal or over fly it via the radars on region.
