It's an entangled love affair...

In a sense, I agree with this except it goes both ways in a sense. It's like a bad marriage, they are each an excuse of why things went bad and they both have someone to blame.

Republicans will go back to archaic principles of free enterprise and unregulated corporate dominance.
20% unemployment will turn to 70% and property values will continue to fall. All lending will cease.
Many many more will walk from their homes leaving banks with eventual collapse. Governemnt in washington will continue to fight over partison power and deadlock on any decision making.
The dollar will further devalue, and foreign investment will go elsewhere. doh

Are you serious or are you just trying to promote California grown marijuana?

Someone would have to be stoned to believe your prediction.

The change has already started and the people of this country want something better from both parties. The Democrats will not make the smart move and run someone more qualified for president in 2012. They will try the same trick of marketing Obama with catchy buzz words. They will lose the White House. The people of this country will not forget the lies they were told and the disrespect they have been shown in two short years.

No way will Obama serve a second term.

My concern is that we go back to archaic principles of government with proven failure - outta spite for a power struggle for party take-over. We all lose with this one...

I think we already lost a along time ago.Our government sold this country out a long long time ago.If anyone thinks that things are going to get better have binders on.

Our politicans don't really care and it doesn't really matter to which party they're from. We're led to believe that we're suppose to be the richest country but we can't even provide for our own people. We shouldn't have poor and unemployed people in our country.Nor should anyone be homeless. Our politicans should be ashamed of themselves for what they've done or haven't done. All they do is lie and we fall for it every time.

Obama lied when he said that he would bring all the troops home from Iraq.No instead he left several thousand troops over there.
the only way our troops ever get to return home is in body bags.Yes I understand full well that sons, daughters, husbands and wifes volunteered to serve. The whole war is all about politics and noone can convenice of it not being true.

A lot of it comes from campaign contributors.Like in big business etc.

ttom500: Let us begin this here.

California one of the two remaining bastions of Blue (DEM) power in the country....is $138b in debt. New York the other bastion is near bankrupt.

Arnie has traveled to every Washington hand out since of President Obama came to office in 2008. Yet could not not get a extention of CA credit or government funding.

So with that back ground....

Why should the rest of the country having begun a nationwide austerity program to cut the national deficits.....being responsibile American willing to tighten the belt. Why should the rest of the country bailout California or New York in the future?

If Arnie could not get CA to pass the Obama/DEM test for creidt in the stimulus years. Why should California be so priviledged to have the rest of the country bailout it during the austerity years.

This flies into California voting in office.... Barbara Boxer.....nominated for Miss Entitlement of the Year Award for 6 years running. Barbara has not seen a entitlement that she does not hug and embrace.

Californians would have us think that their high property values, their liberal movies, their open sanctionary city policies is the 'fair and just' direction that the country should take. 'Fair and Just' being used here by REP Nancy Pelosi.

Californians needs to see that 3/4 of the country rejected those positions last night. So now is it fair for California to burden us with their debt? Because you got to know that Gov Brown and Senator Boxer will soon be in the White House asking for a California bailout.

Why should the rest of the country invest money into California, when California cannot get its economic house in order?

Better you ask Mr. Greenspan, the great creator of the mechanism leading to the economic disaster in October 2008, claiming now for austerity measures, not only in the USA-states, but worldwide. And yes, maybe Mr. Obama is going to loose the elections in 2012, because he spent too much money for social affairs instead into wars, which seems to be much more interesting and welcome to some circles. As for my point of view things, give him some more time to achieve, GWB had 8 years to show, but Mr. Obama had only short 2 years until now. However, don’t forget that USA owns some 1.5 trillion $ to state bond holders worldwide, alone to Chine more than 1 trillion, but USA would still going on printing out $, justifying it with the Breton wood agreement, without real equity. Now the IBS in Basel Switzerland, based on G 20 resolution, thereafter created and sponsored by the Rothman imperial, rushes to implement a new “global currency”, relayed on the “exchange value of assets” of each country. Be care full American friends, maybe GWB will come back, maybe not, lets see. But the things I referred above are not your unique, internal problems anymore.

We saw how well you handled austerity in Greece. Seems your entitlement program lead to making fine citizens that when the dole ended.....they turned to self help by rioting. Were is your bond rating at the present time?

So as a old business professor once said....who would you rather do business with....a firm that cannot pay it accounts and bills or one that can? The answer was easy.

By the way....after Obama was placed into office...the Iraq war supplement was $20b per month....twice that of GWB. It is not the war that is hurting the economy. The war funding is only a small fraction of the countries GNP. Rather is is the financial mechanism on main street that are keeping small business from loans and credit line.

I find it hilarious in a sense that there is zero outrage about these facts in the media anywhere. I think between all the races this year (Senate, House & Governors), an estimated $3 billion was spent....That is honestly a disgusting figure when you think about how else that could have been spent.

I bet for half that, if they put it in a fund for those needed help with mortgage relief, they could have easily saved alot of homes and gotten more people elected on the fact that they are showing they care. I guess it's just more important to buy TV airtime.

Hot_Single_Dude: House of the representatives went absoloutely republicanised during the elections of yesterday. Milloins of americnas showed they are not pleased by politics of the Obama administration and democrats, but still other millions made sure that the presidency have not been all failed and a new path toward better times for America is lightening up.

Sentae still got a majority of democrats and even this majority is rather small and eight democrats lost it to Republicans... still it will be possible to stop Republicans being able to run the show all by them selves, and with out possibilities for Democrats stopping Republican-only kinds of legislations and of course stopping the exact same kinds of horrible mistakes which brought America to the current economical situation from happening.

Republicans are the representatives of the big oil and big corporations and the amount of money aviable for those is colosal and not easy to out challenge what so ever and then the challenge of the american government is now even bigger.

We got a political opposition in America now, which directly taking money from foregin players with real interests in oil business and anti environmental efforts and then out challenging this huge oponent needs increadible skills and beside a presidency which really truelly creating results which are easy for americnas to see and feel rather faster than later .

One of the major important ideas of the Obama administration regarding new jobs have been more federal investments in green tecnology and beside more investments in infrastructur whcih both are THE most important ways of bringing a country back to the right economical track when asking majority of experts and scientists and the way forward which have helped Germany, China, Brazil, Norway, India, Malaysia and several other nations all better off the recession time, and now president Obama got a real problem...

Republicans do not like Green jobs, they Deny Green house effect and they beleive federal investments on infrastructur are bad for the economy and only private companies shall lead that effort.

How Obama can use lots of positive experiences form other countries recovering from the recession, with a ´Republican majority in the house this wise act will become a serious misory for all americans who need a job and Republicans will for sure being able to get some Dem,s on their side as well going "anti environmental bozos", and Obama will really need using his presidency power to start this very important effort and as longer he waits , as harder the challenge will become.

There are always Riots sending bombs by courier in many countries, especially in yours, even without a political reason behind, likewise also in Austria some years ago. But the Greek police have acted quite tough in that case.

Concerning “the old professor”, sure, I wouldn’t do any business with theme. But I also wouldn’t ever ask IMF for help. IMF has changed constitutes in its role since 1981, just serving “Globalisation” plans. Just a small example: Argentina. Read about.

Concerning Obama, he did NOT DOUBLE the costs, he only had to carry on the costs in Iraq, and increase theme in Afghanistan, and this was a heritage from Mr. GWB. The problem in here, as I mentioned in another thread, is that he -most probably- cannot keep his promise of such a quick withdrawal from Iraq.

Concerning Mr. Greenspan and that “the war funding is only a small fraction of the countries GNP” you are totally wrong. The weapon industry follows the oil industry, and after a big gap follows the chemistry, pharmacy and so on. Just read about.

Finally: The October 2008 financial crash came from your country, yes or no? And this crash caused about 2.5 trillions of money losses (the money however never get lost, it just went somewhere else), but the damage on the worldwide GDP stagnation is at least as much. And not to speak about the uncertainty it caused to hundreds of million people being faced with the so called STAGFLATION. Ever heard about?

The present US GNP is over 13000b annually. In the 1960 and early 1970, the country fought the Vet Nam war on a GNP that annual was around 8500b. At the same time, it fought the cold war with Russia and China. Today DoD is fund to a 606b annually and the Iraq/Afhgan war are costing $20b per month. Which is twice what they cost with George Bush. He was spending $10b per month on the two conflicts. So with the yearly war cost of $240 annually, I would call that a small percentage of the countries GNP. We can do this for another 10-15 years.....and not see any major economic effect.

In Vet Nam, we supported Army that 3 times the one deployed today, with a GNP that was 2/3rd the size of our present one. We did that over over 10 years, to no ill long term economic effect. The country was able to survive the 70s, the 80, the 90s, to the present with the cost of the SE Asain War.

The weapon industry is actually a economic money maker for the US, A recent $60b deal with the Saudi and a $6b deal with Taiwan being examples. All the DoD funding cover its weapon development and procurement programs.

The 2008 crash....as you call it.....was triggered in the US housing industry. But because of the weakness in European countries quickly brought them into the crisis because interlinking banking industries.
If we cause you some headaches...consider it even steven..... for 40 years standing on the West German border watching the Russians and getting frostbit feet.

The only folks that do good in America anymore are the rich and they just get richer. My question is this: When will the rich have enough to let the folks in the middle and bottom get their share?

When the poor and middle class take it by force. Why would the politicians do anything for the poor and middle class? Our taxes may pay their paltry salries and health benefits (which is still more than most of us make) but we aren't the ones who pay their true wages....
