Why do people become trolls (141)
tomcatwarne: Trolls have been a feature of CS for a long time, I just wondered what you thought made people go trolling.
Some people start out nice and polite but get blind drunk and find their courage at a keyboard. Others have joined fairly nasty forum sites initially and think that's just what you do online. And others I think are just genuinely entertained by it all, assuming that no-one takes their comments seriously anyway.
I do know some people from online who have fairly nasty forum personas on a couple of sites, but are pleasant and delightful on other sites. I think some of these people use their nasty sites like therapy. Online chatting is bizarre. I do believe that eventually, people show their real persona online - they can't help it, just like people in the Big Brother house after a few weeks.
I suspect its a genetic defect.

That is my answer too. In real life, after my Mother had me, she was holding me and started to drop me. She had an infection and was very sick.
Her room-mate caught me. Then after I got home, I had collic for 6 months.
My crying was driving my Mom crazy. I am real lucky she didn't drop me on my head then, ha. I'm sure that my Grandparents had to watch me also.
I was bothered by a troll. He had bothered other women. He really went off on me. During the thread, he was reported. I broke the CS rule of doing a thread about the person's attack on me. So I went to CS jail. I'm sure he was very happy. I learned my lesson, just to get off the thread if it gets hot. Just like chat. I do not go on that anymore. There are trolls there that think they rule the room and if you have disagreed with them, they will let you have it.
That is not the reason I go to CS.

the "good' ones start out with very ordinary threads to get themselves introduced to the rest of the people and then after a while they get people interested in thread and and if it is a time when a lot of people are on CS their instincts go nuts and they just start subtly saying things to get people worked up, and pretty soon they just go wild seeming to stay on CS without food or sleep until they get booted off or pass out from lack of food or sleep!
The thing is they feed on the replies to them so every time they get somebody to get angry and start fighting with them it's like a little gold star is pasted to their monitors.

His name last time was pure filth, gutteral slang. It was a very low description of what he's do to women here. I answered him in kind, and the vitriol I got back would have made a sailor blush. Nasty in the extreme.
