Raynew1959: I've said it before and will say it again. Religion was created to keep the masses in line. When a Bishop said something, kings and queens would jump to do it without question.
The only things saying there is a god is a book written by MAN and a bunch of old men living high off the hog using what you dump into the plate at church
You certainly have a right to your opinion - but it's not what I've experienced in my own church - no one is living high off the hog using what "is dumped into the plate". Money is used for the expenses of running the church, the pastor is not wealthy(not even close), and if there's ever extra, it's used for things such as the May 3, May 8, and last May's deadly tornadoes & hail storms, and other community projects, including a food pantry.
swade777: There most certainly is a GOD, and regardless if people want to believe it or not, every living soul will face that God either in judgement for eternal damnation, or acceptance into His Eternal Kingdom because of their willful faith in trusting Him and His Only Begotten Son (The Lord Jesus Christ - Who is GOD in the flesh).
Is ETERNITY worth gambling on, when a simple step towards accepting Christ as your personal Lord and Savior in faith is all it takes to change that eternal destination?
Entrapment by the fear factor by the sounds of it !

(Would appreciate not being stereotyped.)
"And the village is making its Sunday collection in church The church wobbles 'twixt hell and heaven's crumbling perch Unnoticed the money box loudly endorses the shame As the world that Christ fought is supported by using his name
And O how the sea she roars with laughter And howls with the dancing wind To see my two feet standing there questioning"
And even if there was a God, I would not feel anything but contempt for an omnipotent being who chooses to watch the pain and the misery that he/she/it created.
Am not sure if its quiet on topic but this was posted in the IE forums by Libra. A great read and pretty logical.
HELL EXPLAINED BY CHEMISTRY STUDENT
The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid term.
The answer by one student was so 'profound' that the professor shared it with via the Internet.
Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.
One student, however, wrote the following:
First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.
Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion at a time, we can project that all souls go to Hell.. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.
This gives two possibilities:
1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.
So which is it?
If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'
To OP - thanks for including a poll with this. I made a comment yesterday re: political & religion forums and polls - it's great to add a poll, as people who don't care to be attacked by posting a comment, will still vote in the poll.
To view the comments here, you wouldn't likely guess the current poll results:

Yes there is a God, whether one believes like we christians do, or like athiest or agnostic, who dont. Accept or deny it is our choice, but why miss the greatest source of love offered to us all. You can find out. If you seek him honestly with a wanting to know if God is or not, you will find him: Seek and you shall find. We all owe it to ourselves ...just in the slightest chance we could be wrong..your eternal future destination rests on what you do..i wish you well

Now how about to proffer some Objective Proof for your assertions!

... a bit more work in the faith department required here I think.
