Roxana ... something like that ... a woman would be totally covered except for her face during prayers, so those that prefer to stay totally veiled need to pray separately , along with all the other ladies who if they were to bend down in front of a male , might distract his attention from his purpose of being there . A visit to a mosque especially in the middle east is a very special experience , especially with the great art amazing challenge to the engineers of the time and the beautiful artistry in building them. I am very much in love with the mosques of Iran , Isfahan has the most beautiful mosques you can imagine . Those in Turkey are magnificent and the mosques of Egypt also very beautiful. Although I am not a religious person I love ancient religious places of worship , simply because they have so much richness there in art and architecture. I once visited the mosque of the tomb of the imam Reza in Mashad in Iran , His tomb being of solid gold inside a gold lined room many meters high , th e art work was indescribable as the whole experience , as it is quite a shrine . I would highly recommend everyone to visit the older mosques to witness for yourself how beautiful these places of worship truly are.. There is no need for nay special clothing , but modesty and respect is required,, so covered arms chests and legs , and taking of of shoes is also required apon entering. .saskia
ok , how about starting a worm farm... going with a broom and cleaning some streets... helping kids fix their bikes... starting a drive for charity ... visiting old people and reading to them in nursing homes.. helping out at a soup kitchen , starting a soup kitchen.. offering to do the shopping for old people , doing the lawn mowing for old people, go paint someones house who has no money or time. go do some good... you are wasting your life man . Write us a story even , an interesting one tell us of life where you live , to some people it will be interesting . No need to be bored , no job, make a job, you might find hidden talent s you never knew you had and omone might appreciate you for something kind you do... not that I'm saying you might not already be doing kind deeds.... i have hundreds of ideas to stop boredom .... of course they all involve getting off the sofa..depends if you want to do that or not....saskia
May i suggest folks if you would like to show your support for Malala , please go to AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL , You will find news of this very brave young girl there. sas Nice poem /song Bungey ...good on you
You are welcome Jana and i say sincerely now, that we can all learn much from you. Of course ignoring other peoples aggression toward us is as many say here the sensible thing to do... it can usually be proven that engaging in aggressiveness in retaliation is never worth it , because the initiator will never recognise his/her fault.......But human nature makes it impossible at times if we find ourselves confronted with moronic and controlling behaviour , as we both well know ,its an instinctive reaction to defend ones self , when we know the protagonist is wrong in his or her attack on us. We need the ability to recognise the fool quickly , and choosing to avoid conflict and difficulty for ourselves by ignoring that person. Improving OURSELVES as richard says, is what will help us the most in the end. your friend saskia
when people expect too much they often find difficulty in finding happiness. In this life I have admired one man highly for his utmost humility simplicity and his scope to be happy within himself. He was always interested in the welfare of the person next to him, his own welfare was of least importance to him, if someone was in deeper trouble than himself . He always walked with a little happy hop to his walk , either sang or whistled happy tunes. He always had a mouth organ/ harmonica and a tin whistle n his pocket , whenever he saw kids he wanted to see them sing and laugh , his mission was to make others happy ...this brought him happiness , he was happy ...he found happiness here on this earth in his time here simply by always giving something of himself , for no reward at all. Making others happy was his happiness. Thats one story of someone i knew who found happiness here on earth, .........he was my father. Saskia ...thanks for reminding me of him serendipity.
I love it that only you jana are so wonderfully capable with the highest level of artistry and sophistication , and with such articulate eloquence can become the deliverer of such sound wisdom for all of us .. I wonder if any of the commenters on this great blog of yours can connect any of your insights to themselves..? In the brave humility you display here you have proven yourself to be a winner as always , the lesson, the cognisance of your own and many peoples failings , is not lost on me either.
Caspach even at your age it is possible to find love ... sincerity and happiness. I hope you will be both happy. and have a great life together nd fulfil each others dreams .. You are an inspiration to all of us as we age ......... saskia
Thanks Frankie and i know i will always love you as well , because you are special , very special and always there when we need you too we appreciate that ...sas
spd spd , Thanyou for your sentiments , being a granny is the greatest thing in the world .... ariel/jana and i share a bit of a history as in we both have a bit of a following here of both lovers and haters of us both . Seems like whatever we say we have some jealousy going on by a select few here. While I hold no malice toward anyone , i find it necessary sometimes to stick up for myself , its my nature , and i think Jana and I both share this sort of spirit in us. I don't think my friend jana will mind me saying this but she is not about to be pushed over either if something is objectionable to her. I admire her for this as sometimes it is draining , but it is necessary sometimes as an individual to fight with those who challenge us. When i get into my new life with my new man , I will miss the blogs should i decide to leave ... I will miss the great people here and Jana is at the top of the list , saskia
Hi spd spd, I feel sad you must fight this dreadful illness , It seems more sad that you need to be alone from those you want closest to you now. Is it not wonderful that we can communicate by Skype and so fast by emails and texting though these days. I spend a lot of time away from my little family as well and I really look forward to being with them more and more . The time with them is very precious to me. I came back to bahrain early this morning , after an absence of 3 months and they have changed so much , my grandchildren that is ..... we have been playing together all day , they are such a delight , family is such a delight , I will do the closest thing to pray for your speedy recovery so that you too can be close to your children once again spd spd...saskia
