Wouldn't it be nice to have a neighbor who would stop by a few times a day and take the dog for a walk? My neighbor does that for several other neighbors. One dog who was an incessant barker isn't anymore.
I agree, Hoober. but, as you said, there's really nothing to be done when we're at work. It would have been nice if I could have brought him to the office.
Hello Hoober, nice to meet you! My dog (a basset-lab cross) would howl during the day when I was at work which infuriated my neighbour as she said she needed to sleep because she worked nights. I later realized that her night shifts were from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., so I suppose she did need her sleep.
Hi Cat, nice to see you again! Like Bogart, the older I get, the less tolerant I feel towards fools and ignoramuses (ignorami?). When it comes to apologizing, I apologize when I'm wrong.
Italian friends in Montreal introduced me to biscotti many years ago, and it was love at first bite. They used to dip in an orange liqueur after dinner. Yummy! there's an Italian bakery a couple of blocks from where I live and they make delicious biscotti and have even added gluten-free biscotti....not as good, but yummy enough as an occasional treat.
Sorry, Red, I don't play silly games (like posting to keep a blog going), but I did want to point out that you were very quick to jump to conclusions about my first post. Amen.
Red, I typed that on my cellphone and thought I had separated my text in paragraphs. I hate using my cellphone for things like that exactly for that reason (and a few others). Another idea might be for you not to judge too quickly?
Thank you, Red, but I wasn't lecturing you. My first sentence was the only part of my post directed at you. The rest was a general comment. I'm sorry, I thought you'd understand that.
Red, I seriously doubt that Elegs cancelled her profile. She's not a coward. Nor is Harbal. What some of the new members don't/can't/refuse to understand is that this is an international site which doesn't cater to any one particular country. As you said, many of us have had disagreements before, but we go away rather than strike up a fight that no can win. Like many here, to continually read "I have the right to free speech" is becoming the death knell of this site. We all have the right to free speech, but that doesn't mean we should always express it. Common sense and decency are required from everyone who participates on this site. The name calling and downright venom that people spew is really shocking and disturbing. Read the final post on Elegs' "Hello Mods" blog. That pretty much sums up the mentality of some of the people here - from both sides of the political spectrum. Someone posted a blog “Success, Happiness and your future”. Why would anyone gloat so publicly after what happened? There’s a lack of decent behaviour and respect. While we may not agree with the method that was used to highlight the issues, I believe it was done from sheer exasperation. And, it did highlight the excessive number of political blogs that get posted here daily. Why? Everyone has access to the same websites that you do. If people want to read about American politics, we can find these articles ourselves. We don’t need you to inform us several times a day, every day. That is not expressing free speech. It’s reposting. Just because some of us dislike American political blogs, doesn’t mean we’re uninformed. Quite the contrary. We’ve always come to CS to participate in conversation with others from different countries, to banter, to discuss serious issues, to commiserate and to share. But definitely not to dominate. There’s a section on the Forums called USA. That’s where the American political blogs should be posted.
Harbal, it doesn't take much imagination.....you made me feel like I was standing right there with all of you. If it had happened recently, we would have urged him to buy a lottery ticket!
RE: Doing one's bit.
True enough, Molly. I wonder if there's a blogger's heaven?
