No, it's not something I've personally encountered in the workplace but did encounter it once in personal business. It was very annoying, and the person had a shrug-of-the-shoulders attitude towards it. Do people also not respond to requests left in voicemail?
I believe in replying, and I work in a business where my email inbox is inundated daily.....from clients, associates in my office and at the corporate office. It's common courtesy to reply as it acknowledges that the email/request was received and doesn't give the impression of "you and your request are not important". We shouldn't have to follow up to see if our requests have been received. Guess, like you, I'm old fashioned.
In the world of business where almost everything is done electronically, how can not replying to or acknowledging emails be acceptable? It isn't even professional. Must be very frustrating for her associates!
Thank you, Jim, for the clarification. Sometimes my comments are silly just to counter the strong opinions that are posted which I find get very boring very quickly. If blogs go off topic, it would seem that the OP has managed to inspire conversation amongst the participants which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's the finger pointing, name calling and arrogance that bring a blog down....not the fun banter. Anyway, I knew there was a reason why I left here!
I've never read the rules. Does #6 mean that, if someone asks "How are you today?", they've broken rule # 6? Common sense and basic good manners should be number 1 on the list.
When I stopped eating gluten and dairy, I noticed I wasn't spending nearly as much on groceries. A lot of gluten-free items aren't at all palatable so they're easy to avoid. Like others, it's quality over quantity.
When John McCain died, the Halifax Chronicle Herald posted a political cartoon of Trump standing and holding an open newspaper with the headline "John McCain Lies In State" and Trump's comment "Big deal. I do that every day."
My eyes have been open for a long time, but my eyesight has deteriorated. The opthamologist said it was a relatively new condition known as The Trump Glaze and was the result of being surrounded by a continual barrage of verbal diarrhea and general stupidity from Trump and his flock of sheep.
In January, I was driving home around 1 a.m after visiting with a friend who was dying. She lived in a small town about 30 minutes off the main highway so the night wasn't distorted by street lights. I pulled over and parked in a farm track and got out of the car and started walking. An incredible sense of peace washed over me. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and looked up to see the most amazing display of Northern Lights (and I've been blessed to see many!). When I got back to my car, there was a message from her husband saying that she had passed quietly and with a smile five minutes after I left. I like to think that beautiful display was my dear friend, Rita. I'd have aMcCoffee with you too if politics were not invited.
Agree that the ridiculous time frames he insists on are for his benefit only. Also agree that waiting until after the midterms could very well be more beneficial. Clearly, he doesn't have the best interests of his country in mind. And to be perfectly honest, I never watch him on the news.....hard to take anyone seriously whose voice and rhetoric sounds like it's straight from a wrestling match.
While I believe that NAFTA is good for North America, it doesn't mean I believe we should give in to unreasonable demands. Chrystia Freeland and her team are doing an incredible job considering who they have to work with.
Well said, Lady! Trump is in way over his head. He's a real estate huckster who reached his level of incompetence long before he reached the White House. An illiterate, ignorant malignant narcissist.
Hello Lady, EEEK! A very good reason to switch to a sports bra! We enjoyed a three day reprieve from the smoke, but we're socked in again today. I usually wake to the sound of birds chirping.....today I woke to the sound of birds coughing. Can't imagine how bad it must be for everyone in BC.
Chat, my family doctor was my age and I realized her solution to everything was to write a prescription. I switched to a doctor who had been practicing for only a few years and was much more open minded. It makes the annual visit much, much less stressful.
Lady, a trip to my family doctor about two years ago showed high blood pressure. I took meds for about a month and felt awful. So I visited my naturopath. She helped me very successfully with my thyroid and I felt confident she could help me with this. She didn't let me down! As my weight was fine, my diet healthy and I exercised every day, she suggested my energy may need rebalancing and recommended Reiki. After one session, I could not believe how much better I felt. And, yes, my BP is normal and has been since the second session. Sometimes alternative medicine can "cure" what conventional medicine cannot.
