Get Guinness on the phone. He may have the record. dunno thumbs down
I've never seem a more prolific liar in my life.
What's your point here? All past, present, and future politicians/ world leaders lie. It's called mass manipulation or manipulation of the masses. The amount of people that complain repeatedly never cease to amaze me. They talk about politics like they are actually expecting honesty and transparency from a system that was designed to control the masses and currency. The issue isn't Trump, it's the POTUS. The issue isn't Trudeau- it's the PM. The issue isn't who fills these roles but the roles themselves. I've yet to see any politician at any level not complained about. All government systems are faulty and defeat the very purpose they were constructed. Neither Trump nor Trudeau are responsible for creating any system- just governing it and if not them some other lying schleps would.

We work for the system, not the system for us. This is backwards from its created purpose but is the current status quo. People need to understand this so the concept of system reconstruction can begin. The old saying "If it's not broke don't fix it"- well, SHE'S BROKE.

I agree that making false or misleading claims seems to be a current feature of politics but what stands out in Trump's case is the extent:

an average of nearly 7.6 claims a day
since he became President up to September 12, 2018.

As Jim says, he may have the record.
I tried to read the list when I quoted it, or perhaps their previous one, on my own rite-of-passage Trump blog a while back. It's actually a bit ridiculous, with lots and lots and lots of duplications because like any con artist he knows if you say the same thing often enough, and confidently enough, some will take it as truth. So let's say 3000 of them are art-of-the-deal misinformations. And 1000 of them are the sort of political porkies that any and all politicians use as a matter of course.

There. Doesn't that look better? Only around 200 outright lies.

More than anyone would accept in a partner, or a friend, or an employer, of course, Can you imagine having to be with someone who treated you, as an individual, with such utter contempt for the truth? But that's for his wife and family, and the White House staff, to deal with, it's someone else's problem. Phew.

Considering he has never tried to hide his true nature, I think he's showing great restraint, really. So far.

If he sails through these midterms with increased support, of course, the gloves will come off. But on the other hand, if it turns out Americans on the whole don't like or trust him much, the gloves will come off anyway.

We live in interesting times.
When John McCain died, the Halifax Chronicle Herald posted a political cartoon of Trump standing and holding an open newspaper with the headline "John McCain Lies In State" and Trump's comment "Big deal. I do that every day."
Socrates44 How is keeping tabs exactly helping the situation aside from informing the general population of what he is doing- which they already know? Counting lies- seems redundant. Once one knows someone is always less than truthful, counting their lies does not make them any more or less of a liar. It's already been proven he's a liar, focus needs to shift on HOW to remove him, not WHY. Political structure and the legal system is allowing him to govern, this is where the problem lies and this is why he has not been removed. Trump's presidency is showcasing a severely faulty system and a great lack of insight for true change. People are targeting him instead of the system. This is wrong- the system needs to be altered such that the American people never find themselves in another "Trump" situation again. Obviously this cannot happen overnight but change needs to start with awareness. If focus was to shift to the system, regardless who the POTUS is, true progress could be made for future generations. There are lessons to be learned from his presidency and they should be heeded otherwise nothing is going to stop this from happening again and again. It will continue with various leaders until the system is corrected. Counting lies is doing absolutely nothing for anyone except Trump himself, bad publicity is still publicity.
Trump is really going to have pick up the pace if he has any reasonable chance of catching Obama in the next six years.

Can you please enlighten us and tell us how system reconstruction can be attained?
The OP should pick another name. Socrates was the father of Western philosophy, or ethical thought. The only thing these two have in common is the direction.

cool
Are people so in lack of real life that they need a topic to indulge in dunno. If everyone actually lived a real life. Many wouldn't get the publicity they so earn for dunno . Why do people feed them dunno
"like any con artist he knows if you say the same thing often enough, and confidently enough, some will take it as truth."

That is, if they even remember what they heard the other day. Americans are notorious for short attention spans that correspond with the interval between commercials.
Socrates44. System reconstruction = changing policies and rules within. Every government system has this. Our British North American Act was implemented originally in 1867- it was amended in 1982 and now called the Constitution Act. It defines government operations etc. There are plenty of Americans who could be sifting through policies and seeing what needs to be adjusted. Once a "Bill" is presented it is brought to the Senate and other various channels before being pronounced Law. Too many are focusing on the man and not the machine he is responsible for- in the process he is being given gas to keep it running whereas someone needs to find a way to cut the power. Literally.

I never said this would be easy, but it's doable. The first step is getting people to realize this and actually put their noses to the grind, heads together and do what's needed versus complaining about or contributing to his actions / social media presence. Its time to be studious and assertive, not divided.

I'm not American, an American should be answering regarding how change comes about within their system. Knowing something is broken and having the ability to fix it are two different things. With all the negative media and online attention he continuously receives, I'm surprised there hasn't been a Coup D'Etat yet.

I won't be commenting further. I feel my input is understandable and I'm finished here. Trump doesn't deserve this much of my time, I've overspent already.
@ScotiaNova

Your premise is good, it is the execution that is floored, because the changes you suggest would need to come from the incumbent President. That won't happen while Trump is occupying the white house.

So people push Trump's failures and lies to enable the greater good to support an alternative leader, maybe one who would be more open to making sensible suggestions.
Flawed not floored doh
The Washington Post is liberal isn't it? :what:
I guess some people don't mind supporting a presidency based on lies....apparently the truth is something people don't want to hear these days....they feed off the lies like pirannahs and spread the same like wildfire.....dunno
What political figure from either party tells the absolute truth cause if they did they wouldn't get voted into any kind of office.
I f he isn't under oath or urging a War, who cares? rolling on the floor laughing banana
Nothing';s changed. The trend continues. cool
Well over 10,000 lies at this point. It is truly despicable, as is the corruption he has brought to the office and the administration. It will take a long time to correct the damage Trump has done to the USA. His presidency stands as the the absolute worst in US history. Corrections and better safeguards need to be undertaken to prevent such a travesty from ever taking place again.
I f he isn't under oath or urging a War, who cares?

You should. scold
socrates44: How many has the Washington Post exhausted? The number of BLATANT LIES CNN and MSNBC have unleashed and do each day without shame can't be calculated.

Just The Truth... applause
Trump is a waste of everyone's time.

We all know who he is and what he is about.

The fools will keep on following and drinking the kool-aid.
You're partially right. He has no equal. He is OFFICIALLY the worst president in US history and it isn't even close. He scored the lowest of any US president in history on 50 presidential criteria scored by 170 of the top expert presidential historians (liberal and conservative). These are the true experts in that field, not some unqualified idiots on a dating site, who are partially entitled to their worthless unfounded opinions, but the most educated people in that field.
On many levels, what Trump has done is harmed the country, not helped it.
Trump makes Nixon look like a choir boy. cool
Trump is a waste of everyone's time. We all know who he is and what he is about.

He's all about himself isn't he? It was all about improving his brand. I think his brand took a hit though. cool
His supporters don't mind. dunno
It comes naturally for some. laugh
