241 KPH @ Road Atlanta on the downhill just before the bridge. The only thing that kept me from being sucked out of the car was the seatbelt. 80 KPH going downhill on a bicycle with 15 lbs of camping gear on the back.
Good question. "Salt is currently mass-produced by evaporation of seawater or brine from other sources, such as brine wells and salt lakes, and by mining rock salt, called halite. In 2002, world production was estimated at 210 million metric tonnes, the top five producers being the United States (40.3 million tonnes), China (32.9), Germany (17.7), India (14.5), and Canada (12.3)." "Table salt sold for consumption today is not pure sodium chloride. In 1911 magnesium carbonate was first added to salt to make it flow more freely. In 1924 trace amounts of iodine in form of sodium iodide, potassium iodide or potassium iodate were first added, to reduce the incidence of simple goiter."
Salt for de-icing in the UK typically contains sodium hexacyanoferrate(II) at less than 100ppm as an anti-caking agent. In recent years this additive has also been used in table salt." According to the Mayo Clinic there is no health difference betwee sea salt and table salt. I do prefer the taste of sea salt though.
I read an article about 20 years ago which advocated avoiding like the plague, refined white sugar, enriched white flour, and ordinary table salt especially non-Iodized salt. Since then I have switched exclusively to honey including in coffee, I can no longer stand the taste of coffee with sugar. It has a terrible aftertaste. I eat only whole wheat bread and only sea salt. If I need sugar in cooking because some things just don't work with honey, it's brown sugar.
Somewhat off topic but I couldn't agree with you more, in fact you saved me a lot of typing. I would like to add to your post that law enforcement agencies around the country should spend the next few years stockpiling all the controlled substances and illegal drugs they sieze in drug raids and warehouse it in a totally safe location(s) instead of incinerating it, and use it as inventory for prescription distribution to people addicted to these substances. These people could be placed in a 12 step program of withdrawal to rid them of the addiction or at least make it manageable. Think of the savings in the cost of incarceration, the 1000's of able bodied men & women in prison on drug charges, added to the workforce, the savings in police payrolls due to the drop in crimes related to drug use. It would end the drug wars in Mexico and remove a major chunk of funding from the Taliban. We could even buy the entire crop of raw morphine base that is grown in Afganistan as some in government have suggested already it would be 1000X cheaper than letting it come through the black market as it does now. Drug companies already ARE buying morphine from the countries that produce it so what's the big deal?
Over the years I've met many many good friends and dated some. Were it not for the internet my life would be a lot lonelier. It's too early to tell, but internet dating may yet provide me with the ultimate achievement, a lifelong partner.
I've never been out of the US except to Canada several times so I'm not qualified to comment on anyplace I haven'e seen. Like many people I'd like to see where my parents or grandparents came from namely Budapest and Northern Italy in fact I think if I ever went to Italy I might not want to leave that great food. The same goes for Hungary, I would consume large quantities of Apple & Walnut Strudel. I have been all over the US and to me the most beautiful state hast to be Utah. Heading west into the rocky mountains is breath taking.
This is the most touching story I've read in a long time. Only 33 years old? You are to be praised for offering him a second chance and he is to be priased for wanting to purge his bad behavior before returning to you and the kids. for you and a for him. Do the doctors know why he died so young? Such a shame, just when things were starting to look up too. Do you think deep down he knew something was seriously wrong? I'm so sorry for your loss.
There is not a shred of doubt in my mind that Obama is doing a great job as president at this point. He is systematically undoing many of the agregious executive orders that Bush put in place and as most people can see, he's wasting no time in this effort. Trust me, this is just the beginning of the task of restoring the morality and image of America in the world. The voters of this country made a horrible mistake when they elected Bush in 2004. I don't count 2000 because that was a fixed election IMO. I never thought I'd see the day when a president of the United States would think it was right to torture anybody or spy on the public without a court order or imprison an American citizen without being charged or even allowing him access to a lawyer. This is not the America I grew up in!
Obama is putting this country back on track after being derailed by a blithering idiot. I couldn't be happier with the job Obama is doing so far and I'm sure there will be many more good things to come. At the rate this president is correcting the last 8 years of the Bush debacle, he probably won't even need a second term.
I have a spreadsheet I use for my trucking business and one December I decided to erase all the data so that I could use the basic template for the coming year. After I was satisfied all the old entries were gone I saved the file. only problem was I forgot to rename it. Yep, a years worth of records lost and all I had was a printout which was about a month old and no backup. Needless to say I now backup my work religiously in more than 2 places.
Such a pleasure to know there are people around who know what a Fiat 500 is!!! Me thinks here in the US with what's going on with GM & Chrysler (insert Fiat) my countrymen are about to learn.
