The whole epic of "Joe the Plumber" would have been totally forgotten 10 seconds after he asked that question of Barack Obama were it not for one man and that man was..............
Interesting perspective you've got there. He offers a Rep senator a cabinet position and the guy says he can't work with the president and drops out. So who is trying to be inclusive and who is not? We came closer to becoming a dictatorship under the last administration than at any time in the history of our country. This man will do a great job if people will stop trying to bring him down and give him a chance. I gave Bush a chance, twice, he screwed up twice.
So why is gasoline still going up? Oh and BTW, wouldn't it have been wonderful if we could have topped off the SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserve) at todays prices instead of at $140+ a friggin barrel?
And one more thing, Where are all the "Experts" who said we will never see 35 dollar oil EVER AGAIN?
A man staggers into an emergency room with two black eyes and a five iron wrapped tightly around his throat.
"I was having a quiet round of golf with my wife," he tells the doctor, "when she sliced her ball into a pasture of cows. We went to look for it, and I noticed one of the cows had something white in its rear end. I walked over and lifted up the tail, and sure enough, there was my wife's golf ball stuck right in the cow's butt. That's when I made my mistake."
"What did you do?" asks the doctor.
"Well, as I was standing there holding up the tail, I yelled to my wife, 'Hey, this looks like yours!'"
HAHAHA Oh Yeah! I find myself singing that song in here quite often. "In the field of opportunity it's plowing time again There ain't no way of tellin where these seeds will rise or when I'll just wait around til springtime and then I'll find a friend In the field of opportunity it's plowing time again."
I love Neil Young. My favorite is Four Strong Winds. I can't remember the female who sang harmony on that with him I think it was his GF and I heard she died. Neil Young is an uncompromising artist. As to CSN&Y I have to go with Suite Judy Blue Eyes. Although I've heard it 1000 times I still like it.
I've had several nick names at times. In RL they were "Speed" "The Whip" or just "Whip" for short, "Baldy", "Moe", "Mutt". A story behind all of them except maybe Moe.
To be honest I am very surprised that so many people have never tried a cigarette even just once out of curosity when they were kids. I'm glad of course but this poll was to determine if there is a tendency for people who've enjoyed their very first cigarette and those that didn't as it relates to who became smokers and who did not. Sorry about the generalization. I actually learned something I wasn't expecting to learn.
Journalist Will Bunch says that the legacy of Ronald Reagan, which is claimed by the right and was so often referred to by Republican presidential candidates in the 2008 election, is not an accurate depiction of Reagan's presidency.
In his new book, Tear Down This Myth, Bunch argues that the Reagan legacy was created largely by Washington conservatives in the 1990s, who wanted a hero who they could associate with the conservative agenda.
As you may be aware, the FDA is continuing their investigation into the Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak caused by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), which manufactures peanut butter and peanut paste. We recently communicated some information regarding this recall to you and we wanted to give you an update on this issue.
Over the course of the last few weeks several products have been recalled. Since this is still an active investigation, there may still be additional products recalled.
We would like to assure you that Food Lion, LLC (including Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom Dollar, Reid's and Harveys stores) is diligently working in cooperation with the FDA to pull all products that may contain contaminated peanut paste as an ingredient. The safety of our customers is our utmost concern. A number of products containing peanut butter or peanut paste have been recalled, including a few from our stores, however, peanut butter sold in jars at our stores is not affected. The peanut butter being recalled is sold by PCA in bulk packaging to distributors for institutional food service industry use. None of the peanut butter being recalled is sold directly to consumers through retail stores. Information regarding the ongoing recalls can be found at the FDA web site:
Do a search for your preferred age group, distance you're willing to go, smoking or not, religeon etc and start sending out flowers. Some fish will nibble.
Good thread subject Tamarin! I have many connections to the UK and the continent my sister in law is from Edinburgh. I've worked for a British car co for a few years with a great bunch of Irish mechanics. Also worked for a Dutch shock absorber co for 12 years. I love the British accent though the Irish are a little hard to comprehend but Irish women are gorgeous, and yes guys, Blondes from Scandinavia are real blondes Gordon Brown? well, he ain't no Tony Blair but that's about all I can say about him. Interpret it any way you like. Oh, and I love Thatchers grit. That woman was tough as a hogs back. The French? No comment except they seem strange.
I try to forget things I've done out of kindness or generosity for friends or strangers, but I do remember one instance. A friend introduced me to a young lady who was on disability from a bad car wreck (neck, head & back). Her husband died and she had 2 teenage daughters. They lived in a tiny house with no heating system just an old wood stove and almost no firewood. 4 of the windows were broken and she had 1 room that was crammed full of her stuff because she had no place to put it. Winter was coming on fast. I measured the windows and went to the hardware store to get glass and installed the missing windows. That was priority no 1. Next I bought a folding stair for the ceiling and installed it in the living room. I then went to the Home Depot and bought plywood for the attic to put down flooring and after thet I ran some lights up there. This enabled her to move her stuff up into the attic and free up a room. Next I scouted around and found someone getting rid of a load of firewood which I picked up with my big 22 foot truck. A few hours with a chain saw and splitting maul and she had wood for the winter. Oh yeah, one of her daughters forgot to leave the lightbulb on in the pumphouse and it got really cold and the waterpump froze and cracked so I replaced that too. It felt really good to know I made somebodies life bearable.
I disagree, I've emailed a few of the regular guys on here. It doesn't mean I want to smoke their bone. I have male friends as well as female. BTW, I've never blocked anybody and doubt I ever will.
RE: What would Joe the plumber say?
It was John McCane in the 2nd debate I believe who resurected Joe the Plumber from the scrap heap of history and gave him a platform.
