Yes..I've known one for some time and had a "friendship" with one..

The other one is a family number.

I was able to say NO to them both and cut all emotional cords with them.

It all depends on the circumstances?

Is he texting? Or in an email?
Is he phoning?

In which case I'd just ignore it and change the subject and see if he keeps repeating it..

Is he saying it in a moment of passion? Then I'd think he's just getting carried away.
During those moments some people often say things they don't really mean

Now...if it's during a meal or a walk and he's looking straight into your eyes...well...then he must be getting serious !!
